My husband is gone

He just left for an out of town 6 day trip. Whenever he's gone any semblance of a routine goes out the window. I feed the kids only when they complain about being hungry. It could be 8 o'clock at night and they'll go "Gee mom, it's almost betime and we haven't had dinner yet."

My bed won't be made and I won't make the kids put their toys away. I won't even put my own stuff away. The day he gets back it will be like The Cat In The Hat around here.

I will spend a huge amount of time working out though. I've got THAT all planned out on a piece of paper. I guess that shows what my priorities really are and what is simply obligation.

Well that sounds exactly like what my husband does when I'm out of town! As long as the kids don't go hungry I think you'll be okay. You have your workouts all scheduled to help keep your sanity if only for a short while. It's only 6 days and counting down....

I can relate to you on giving food to my daughters only when they ask, procrastinating on daily tasks, etc. ...Only I do it when I am with my husband. He is in the Army and he stays away for longer periods of time. I have found that I do a lot better in every aspect when I am alone with the kids. I can organize my time more effectively and the pressure of having more responsibilities pushes me to do better. But that is when it is a long period of time, like when he was in Korea, that was a year. A few times, when we were in Maryland, he had to go for a week and I did exactly like you describe!!! hehehe

I have to say, I look forward to my DH being gone so my house stays clean while he is away....funny...huh?? I also work out way more....But, don't have kids just animals....:)...Carole
