My heel saga continues..........

I had my 2nd cortisone shot yesterday and am going to try NO CARDIO for the next 2 weeks til I go back. We will see if that helps any at all. He is also suggesting orthotics but I have to save money for them. I will be weight lifting only and doing pilates. I already found a strength rotation on fitnessfanatic's rotations that I will just leave the cardio out of and can do pilates on one of the 2 rest days. :) Pray that this works and that I can go back to stepping and high impact aeorbics again. I haven't stepped in 7 weeks now and I miss it terribly. Even taebo and KPC or even riding the bike didn't work because it aggravated my heel even with putting the emphasis on my arm work and upper body.:( Maybe in 2 weeks I will be rippling with muscles..... .... NOT or Maybe!!:+ . Only time will tell.:7

Thanks for all the support and suggestions you have given me in the past.:D

I'm just starting my second week of no cardio/impact/stepping, so I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to be over seven weeks into cutting back. How does your doc determine that you're still aggravating it? Is it just a matter of the level of your pain that suggests the healing is not happening?

I am actually concerned about standing yoga poses (bare feet--yikes!) and some standing pilates work that seems to not agree with the heel. (The problem may be that lots of docs don't really know what we mean when we tell them what we do to work out; after all, we're just girls, how hard can we be working?) I was told not to do squats or lunges or leg press (machine or step-ups ala Cathe).

Do you have it in both feet or just one? Good luck with your weight routine. I've been riding my bike a little, but I miss step and KB so much!

Hi Ann

I was doing lower impact stuff like riding the bike and kickboxing just emphasizing the arms over the legs moves. But there were days when by the end of the day I was still in pain. I can still weight lift and squats and lunges don't seem to be as bad on my heel as the jumping around and stepping. Because I am still in pain we don't know exactly why it hasn't healed other than the mechanics of my foot are messed up and the orthotics will correct that we hope. Stepping he said was the worst thing that I could do so I cut that out first, but continued kickboxing and taebo type stuff. Now I have stopped that too.:( My doctor is a sport medicine podiatrist so he hates to limit activities and prefers that you continue with your activity. But since nothing else is working and I suggested stopping all cardio he said to try it and see how it goes. I did portions of Legs and Glutes today and tomorrow will be more weight lifting and Wed. will be pilates. My pilates tape has all the abdominal centering section on the floor so I won't be on my feet at all. I don't do yoga.

Praying that we both get better soon:7

Yep, me too praying for you BOTH! Injuries are no fun especially when you are used to working out with a pro. (Cathe!) I can totally relate to what you are both experiencing having withdrawal from your normal workouts. Hang in there and hopefully we will all be back to what we love SOON! Thinking of you both!
