My first (& probably last) pilates experience

My gym has this fabulous pilates studio, so in my efforts to change my workouts to include more flexibility, I figured I'd give it a try. So I signed up for 3 training sessions at $60 each ($180 total--money I really can't afford but hey, anything for the old bod), figuring that would be enough for me to learn the machines & strike out on my own.

Well, it turns out that no one is allowed in the pilates studio w/o a personal trainer, meaning you have to pay at least $65 each time you want to work out (the $60 was an introductory rate). How insane is that? If I want to do pilates once a week it's gonna cost me $260 a month, in addition to my $80 monthly membership fee.

I am so disappointed. I really enjoyed the workout & was looking forward to adding it into my routine. Friday I'm taking a yoga class, which is FREE thank goodness. But now I'm thinking I need a $120 refund b/c there's no point in doing the other 2 sessions if I can't continue with it.

I agree!! Get your cash back. I think that's a total ripoff! If you've paid good money for the gym membership, why isn't that all inclusive?

With all the crap you got from that jerkoff personal trainer and then this? I think you might want to check out some of the other gyms in your hometown and fly the coop. Go to a gym where they appreciate your business rather than try to rape you for every penny you have in your wallet.

(ok... i'm getting off of my soapbox now. sorry bout that!)

What a goofy program!

My friend paid a personal pilates trainer that works with mostly professional ballet dancers. She took tons of notes and really created her workout with the trainer. Now she just goes back for brush ups once in a while. She does everything at home with minimal equipment. She has been THRILLED with how she feels and she is pretty much an elite athlete to begin with. Might be another way to go?

You are having some bad mojo a the gym lately!

LOL! I know, I have had some bad luck lately, haven't I? I've lived here for about 2 1/2 years & this is the 4th gym I've joined. I can't leave b/c the equipment is so fabulous. But I'm thinking from here on out I need to stay to myself & leave my wallet in the car. ;-)

I can think of a whole lot of other things I could spend that money on, like equipment for my OWN house!

They really don't treat you very well there. You sound like such a sweet person to have these things happen to you.
