I can't believe I finally am posting. This site is so wonderful. I have been reading for over a year now and have decided to figure out how to post. I currently have the following DVD's"

Body Blast Series, Upper and Lower Body Pyramids

I really need to lose 10 pounds and shape up. For some reason it has just come on over the last 3 months even though I have been doing things the same. I will be 49 in April, so no spring chicken, but in pretty good shape otherwise. So, I'm thinking I need to kick things up a bit to change up my body. What do you think. I really haven't been doing much cardio wise except a 30 minute walk (about 3.5) so do you think if I increase those to some interval type of exercise that should help? Also, do you think the cardio will help to keep my legs leaner rather than bulky? I love the Body blast series, but am still learning the step ones so I couldn't count those as a work out yet. I have been doing this for the past couple weeks:

Friday-KPC
Monday-PP
Tuesday--BC
Wednesday--rest
Thursday-SS

Friday--KPC
Monday--L&G
Tuesday--Walk 35 min and trying Step Blast

Do you think this type of set up if I increased everday to include the treadmil for 40 min and vary from interval to steady state would achieve my goal?

It looks great. Be sure to put 48 hours of rest between strength training sessions and to eat properly so you can maximize muscle developement. I think adding cardio will get you to your goals more quickly. Let your muslces rest and repair and grow. The more fat you lose, the more muscle you'll see and don't worry about bulking up. With the right mixture of cardio and strength work you have lean muscular legs and thats what we all want! Good look and I am glad you posted to say hello at last. :)

Hi Kel, I don't like to give advice, because others here know so much more than I. Just wanted to say hello and welcome.

Hi, Kel, welcome!!

Changing things up is a sure way to get better results, especially if you have cleaned up your diet. (That's my problem, personally. I swear I have a tapeworm, heh.) You might also try some of the premixes on those DVDs so that you are not doing the exact same workouts every time.

Good luck!
Marie

Hi Kel and welcome! We're happy to have you. Like Robin, I'm not one to dispense advice because there are too many wonderful and intelligent forum members who know far more than I. I would just like to say that if you want to learn some big words, Robin's (buffettgirl) your girl!

Hi everyone! So you say to rest a day between strength. I don't lift yet as heavy as Cathe. Should I still not do back to back, say like PP and BC or PP and PLB? Seems so confusing yet to me.

You can alternate muscle groups. Do an upper body workout one day and follow it with a lower body so one muscle group rests while the other works. You can put a day of cardio between strength workouts.

I use to do treadmill M, W, and F and then Upper Pyramid Tuesday and Lower Pyramid Thursday. But now I have the Body Blast Series minus the timesaver. Most of those are leg workouts, or totals. So I could do one of those on Tuesday say and another on THursday?
