My Daughters progress

My daughter came home from the hospital on Sunday, they scraped out all the tumor from her leg, he had to make a bigger hole in the bone then he anticipated but it came out ok, the took the bone marrow from her hip and transplanted it into her leg, her leg is still swollen, they put a splint on till the swelling goes down then they can put on her cast, she should be able to get her cast on Tuesday, I am crossing my fingers and praying tons that the doctor can put on the cast, She is on some pain meds and they make her very ill, so they gave her some anti nausea medication to take a 1/2 before she takes her pain meds, so far it seems to be helping, seems to be a very long recovery process for her right now and she gets discouraged a bit because she can't do anything this summer, as soon as she is off bedrest though I am going to take her out to the movies to see a movie she wants to see. Very hard on everyone all around, she is so dependant on me more than ever, I have to wash her hair and tons more and the other kids are feeling that and became more demanding than ever so very hard emotionally but we are coping,

Thanks so much for posting an update. I was just checking the forum to see if there was any news on your sweet daughter. I've still got you in my thoughts and prayers. How long before they know if the surgery was successful? I remember you said they weren't sure if this procedure was going to work.

Also, how's your dad doing? He had a stint put in the same day as your daughter's surgery, right?

Can your other kids help your daughter too? I'm sure she just wants you, but it might help the other kids to understand how much she can't do and why you have to do so much more for her right now. I am so feeling for your situation right now. Hang in there and God Bless! Lots of hugs coming your way!

Lesliemarie, ditto everything gym mom said. I was happy to see you posted an update and I hope and pray things settle down for you soon. You've sure had your share of stress lately. Take care and know that you and your family remain in my prayers.

Michele

Lesliemarie,

My prayers and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} continue for you and your family. I understand this is sooooo stressful for you, your daughter, and the entire family.

Try to get some workouts in to help relieve your stress and I like the suggestion of getting the other children involved in helping their sister. Not only should it help them understand the situation better, but I bet they're feeling a bit helpless and concerned about their sister and this will help their anxiety a bit.

Take care.

Lesliemarie, best wishes, prayers and hugs to both you and your daughter. I hope she has a quick, painless and uneventful recovery and appreciates all her mom does for her.

we won't know for sure when we will know if the surgery is a success, the doctor did say that only a small percentage of those that had this procedure done actually cured them, and a good portion of those that had this same surgery had the tumors grow back, we are still praying that she is in the small precentage, so right now it is a waiting game to see if it worked, right now we are just focusing on her recovery of the surgery, we have to take her in every few months for new x-rays to see the how we are on the tumors, she goes in on Tuesday for more x-rays and the cast,
My dad is doing ok, not sounding all that good, he has so much stacked against him right now, he is obese and diabetic and also suffers from congential heart failure all at once, and his kidneys are also only working 60% at this point for my father is that I hope he doesn't have to suffer so much, he deals with so much emotional guilt of the past and my mothers constant abuse. so I am really praying that he gets the peace he so longs for.
My youngest daughter is such a sweet heart to my oldest daughter, she will help her out when she can, and she is doing such a great job on helping around the house and my stress level is so much better than it was a few days ago. My daughter did get outside yesterday to get some fresh air but the puppies came and jumped on her, lucky they missed her leg, but she had to hollar at them and tell them no and then they just came and sat in her lap to be petted, I think they understood her pain and tuned into it, even the cat came and smelled her leg and layed down next to her leg,

So glad to hear the procedure went well. Your daughter is one tough kid...and so are you! Do she enjoy arts & crafts, puzzles, board games...things she can do at home this summer?

Yes she loves that stuff, I was going to get her more of it to do, I just took her to the doctor because we just found out two of her toes are numb when they shouldn't be, the doctor took off her wrap and put new dressing on and re-wrapped it not so tight, but her toes are still numb. I have to call her orthopedic surgeon and see what they want to do,

Lesliemarie, thanks so much for letting us know how it's going. I'm so glad that the kids and pets are cooperating, and that you are less stressed. I am sending get well vibes to your daughter and hoping that this operation is her last.

Lesliemarie:

Hugs, prayers, good vibes all coming your way.

It's so hard to much harder to see you child having problems, all you want is for them to be well. I pray your DD is in that small percentage you discuss.

The best advice I ever got (my DS has medical issues) is just like on the airplane be sure to put your oxygen on first. What ever you need to do, prayer, naps, nothing, working out, try to do it.

We are all here for you.

Hugs
