Cathe for Overweight Exercisers
All things are possible! I am 5'3" and have done Cathe’s advanced workouts weighing as much as 230 pounds. I love Cathe’s personality and style and enjoy her workouts. Her step workouts are intense enough for someone who is significantly overweight to get a good workout by using a 4" platform with no risers. Your cousin will likely be able to handle this since she is not new to exercise. If not or if she has weak knees, she can start with a mat as her step and do the workouts on the floor. I recommend buying a rebounder. I use it for the super high impact blasts in IMAX3 and the Kick Max blast challenge. Tuck jumps are a blast on my rebounder. Literally! Push-ups can be modified by doing them on her toes instead of on her knees. She can also skip moves like stability ball pikes and single-arm dips that are too advanced. I am a big believer in making my workouts work for me by modifying up or down. I listen to my body and modify accordingly. I am personally motivated by a challenge, and most of the workouts that are sold in stores never inspired me.
I recommend starting with Low Impact Step, Low Impact Circuit, and Supersets/Push Pull. Low Max is good too, but the choreography might be too complex for her if she is brand new to Cathe’s style.
Please encourage her to join the forums too. This is a very loving and supportive community, and the time I invest here blesses me beyond measure. I would be delighted to start a check-in with her.
Blessings,
Heather B.
