He was told today that he has to leave on sunday at noon b/c some other guy who was supposed to go was not physically ready for bootcamp and my brother is. he is glad to get it over with sooner, but wasn't mentally prepared since we thought he had more time. i would like to ask that all of you keep him in your thoughts. he starts boot camp monday morning.

Jes, I'm so sorry to hear about the fast switch!! I'm so glad you had the party last weekend!!!!

He (and all the other recruits) will be in my thoughts.

Wow.

My husband is a Marine (Semper Fi) I'm sure all will go well, it is a shock when a date is moved up that drasticly.. All the best to your brother!!

Jes,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your brother. Like Amy, I'm so glad you had the party last weekend. That worked out perfectly and gave your brother a chance to see his friends and family all together. He's very lucky to have you for a sister!

Michele:)

Jes,

I'm sorry that the switch happened so quickly. That is tough to have to switch gears like that. I wish your brother all the best and will keep you all in my thoughts.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow - what a ride!’ — Peter Sage

my best to him jes. its not easy but the sense of pride he will gain from acheiving this will far outweight those 4am runs.(dh went through it too).

WOW! That was fast and I can imagine a little scarey too! Well, your brother sounds like he's got it all on the ball so I'm sure he'll do fine! I know you will miss him and worry about him though. I will keep him in my thoughts. He'll do great though, I just know it! :)

He will be fine.
My sister has been in the navy for 17 years.I never thought she'd make it through boot camp. She has a mouth.
She says once camp is over it is just like any other job.
Except for when she gets shipped out for 3-6 months.
Hopefully they will all be back from Iraq soon and you won't have to worry about him getting sent over there.
She did say they treat you like sh-t in bootcamp to prepare you mentally and physically.
She said you are dirt till you graduate. It will put him in great shape.
He will be too buisy to worry about it.
You will be sooooo proud of him when he graduates.
I have heard that marines have the toughest training.
( LIke the biggest looser).
Tell him good luck and God bless. Keep his mouth shut and just do it. He will be OK.

Hi Jes,

I didn't know anything about your brother enlisting. Wow. He's made a very courageous choice, and I wish him all the very best.

Sandra

Jes,
My thoughts are with you. My DH works with many military guys in Iraq. I will be thinking of you as it is hard having a loved one in an area that we know is not so safe.

Jes,

God bless your brave and noble brother, God bless your family. For all the blustering of our "fearless leaders" throughout this war, it is your brother and the brave men and women in the military who are truly the fearless leaders. You are all in my prayers.

Julie

OMG, Jes! I will be thinking of you and your family! I pray your dear brother will stay safe! What a courageous decision he has made. (((HUGS))) to you and your family.
