My 1 yr old is driving me nutso today

ay yay yay...let me preface by saying my son is normally so low key, but for some reason he just won't nap so far today. Normally he needs a good morning nap. He is definitely tired, but today it has been play around in the crib, throws blankie over until I come back, get hungry, gets tired again, repeat like five times...

ACK! Someone send some sleep dust over here so I can at least go take a shower ;)

Is this his morning nap? do you think that he's ready to go to one big afternoon nap. i remember all of those transition phases from three, to two, to one nap. I remember thinking what the heck is going on. It's hard because I counted on those certain times of the day to get things done. Now nobody takes naps!

That's the thing about wee ones. Just when you think you've got some kind of routine figured out, they change it on ya!

Hang in there Debbie! Maybe he is transitioning to one afternoon nap, or maybe today is just an aberration. That's the joy of kids. No two days are the same;)
 
Sounds like he is ready for one nap a day, now. Just think, one long and peaceful afternoon nap instead of two short one or 1 1/2 hour naps! yeah! My son just transitioned in the last two weeks (he is 14 months), and I gotta say I am loving it!

I would love to help you dust, but I got this thing about dusting. I hate it. I only do it when absolutely necessary. I can come over and vaccuum for you, though! :p

I totally feel your pain. I have a 6,5, and 2 year old. They all stopped napping a couple of months ago and I really miss that down time when they napped. I now save there t.v. watching time for the afternoon so I can get stuff done. One is a tough age though, because they won't sit and do something on there own yet. Good luck and hopefully this is just a fluke. :)

Before my daughter was in her big-girl bed (age 2), I would just put her in the crib and let her cry if she didn't want to take a nap. But I was also working 2 days a week from home and absolutely depended on her giving me a couple hours alone during the afternoon.

She stopped taking naps at 2. She usually doesn't even sleep during naptime at preschool anymore either.

You know what might work? Since it stinks so much to leave your child crying in the crib (you know it won't hurt them, but it tears your heart out), I used to lay down with her sometimes and pretend I was going to take a nap too. Then once she fell asleep, I'd get up and do whatever I had to do. Sometimes, though, it got too comfy and I ended up napping too. Shhhh! Don't tell my employer - they paid me for those naps! Ah heck, who cares if they know? I don't work for them anymore anyway.
 
LOL! Thanks for the giggles and the tips, gals. I don't think he's quite on 1 nap a day yet, but he's certainly heading in that direction. I think it's just one of those days. Luckily I wasn't planning on doing Cathe today, so that worked out well. The upside is that now I know all the Disney cartoon theme songs by heart. Anyone up for some karaoke??
