hello! i have a question, muscle max is one of the dvds that i purchased and i picked it because it sounded like it would help me gain some muscle mass (i'm naturally thin)but a friend of mine told me that it was more of an aerobic workout instead of strength gaining because there are so many reps back to back on one muscle, therefor it wouldn't help in gaining some muscle...any input?? i would really appreciate it!! thanks:)

It's a muscle endurance workout, certainly not an aerobic workout, even though your heart rate might rise during certain exercises, probably the leg and glutes ones. It will help you build strength, but maybe not much mass.

For a thin person to add muscle mass, what you really need is the Slow & Heavy series, where you take out all the momentum from the movement by adopting a slow 8 count rep. I am also an ecto, and this is the series that can add mass for me. You'll also need to commit to eating more, especially more protein to build that muscle, and to cut down on the cardio you do too, probably, no more than 3 per week. Then add on the Gym Style series with its heavier weights and slower counts. I personally plan to rotate between these two series for a while now, cutting out endurance style workouts for the upper body, but I shall still include them for the lower body.

I agree, except that Gym Style Legs doesn't seem to be as strength and mass oriented as the other two workouts in that group. (CT, BSB). I was a bit surprised.

Another good series for mass-building is Pure Strength.

thankyou clare, i did order the slow and heavy but haven't even watched it yet, now i'm excited to try it!! i was doing cathe's cardio kicks a couple of times a week too, i may try a less "vigorous" aerobic wk/out, i try to eat more but usually it's fruit or something that doesn't really help in gaining muscle...how long did it take you to see results from doing the slow and heavy? i know it takes longer for our ecto body types (much longer, if it even happens!which i'm hoping for...) and do you drink protein drinks? thanks for your input,i'm going to try your plan! cin:)

thankyou for your input too, i actually have pure strength but haven't done that wk/out in a long time! i need to wipe the dust off of that one!(bad i know) thanks again:) cin
