Muscle gain

Hi Cathe, or any others available,

I'm new to posting here, but have done your workouts off and on over the past year and a half. I have Upper adn Lower Pyramids and have just purchased Body Blast minus Timesaver. (I don't know the step well yet, but I am going to get it!) My question, my legs seem like they are getting bigger even though I eat pretty well (Southbeach style). Is this going to lean out once the fat gets burned off? I am 5' 6" and need to lose about 10 pounds, or firm up that much :7 anyway. Is it the cardio that will do this or should I decrease the amound of strength routines I am doing?

Hi Kel402!

The main thing you have to do is stay consistent with your workouts and good eating. A combination of about 4 cardio a week, a solid weight training program a couple of times per week, and a sensible clean diet on a steady basis will make a huge difference. You also have to make sure that you burn off more calories than the amount you eat. Burning off 500 extra per day (250 with exercise and 250 by cutting back on your daily intake) will allow you to safely lose one pound per week. I don't recommend losing more that 2 pounds per week at any time (500 cal exercise and 500 cal food cut back). Its seems to creep back on when it is lost too fast (not to mention that it takes some good nutrients, water, and muscle with it). Fast weight loss also leads to saggy skin.

Good luck and work hard :)

Thank you so much!! I really want to make this work this time and stay in the exercise program year round. Your workouts are just so fantastic! I love weights and really would prefer doing them everyday, but know I need the cardio too. Seems in the summer I tend to drop off because I then play golf maybe 4 days a week.
