muscle definition

Hi Cathe;
First off, I love your dvds. Thank you for making extremely high quality and effective workouts for us home exercisers. I have a question about seeing definition in my arms. I have been doing Muscle Endurance & Pyramid for approx. 2 1/2 months(my heaviest weight is 15 lbs. and I don't have a barbell set). I also do a Jari Love dvd that's low weight/high rep. However, I'm so impressed by your w/o that I would like to eliminate that one and stick only with your w/o. Anyway, what will help me get "cuts" in my upper body- heavy weights or light weight/high rep? I see slight defintion but am unsure which w/o is producing it. I was considering ordering Push & Pull/ Supersets. Thank you in advance for your help.

Obviously not Cathe here, but typically you do less reps with higher weights to gain muscle. You may want to try Cathe's Slow and Heavy Series..this has always worked well for me to see muscle definition. Hope this helps!

Was hoping for a reply from Kathy (though all replies are appreciated). Wanted to add that I'm 5'5, 138 lbs. (w/ 10 more lbs. to loose) and don't have skinny arms. Here's a list of videos i'm considering for strength and definition, though I'm unsure which ones would be for what:

push pull/ supersets
muscle max
gym style- upper body
slow & heavy
body max 2 - for the upper body section

What do you think. Any suggestions would reaaally be appreciated.

Hi KC, also not Cathe here...
I have the Gym Style series and Muscle Max. MM is a whole body workout, where the gymstyle focuses on muscle groups. If you are really looking to gain muscle, I would recommend GS and Slow/Heavy.

Also keep in mind that definition is mostly due to diet, so you would need to eat VERY clean to see real definition.

And then, there are those that are like me, where no matter how clean I eat, and what I lift (heavy or light), NOTHING gives me definition in my arms. I have seen vast improvements in strength, but it's just not in the cards for me to have nicely defined shoulders. Oh well. :)
