muscle definition for the naturally endowed

Cathe,
Even though this may seem to be a crazy question, it is one that is always on mind as I exercise diligently with heavy weights and intense cardio (for the last 20 years, I'm 42). Although I have some muscle definition in my legs and arms, I don't think it reflects my clean eating and my workouts. The only abs I ever see are my upper abs and an inkling of obliques. Is it my body type...think Jayne Mansfield, Rachel Welch, Sophia Loren..that could be causing this? Don't get me wrong, natural curves are great, but I think I'd like abs too! Any advice would be great even if it's "quit whining and get on with your life." I always am envious of you and the rest of the crew with your muscle definition... Maybe Cedie would have some pointers?
Thanks for your excellent workouts.
Amy
