I just started doing pilates - have a basic pilates beginner with ana caban and have taken a few beginner classes. I've read a lot of people like the mtv pilates. A local store has both the mtv pilates dvd and mtv pilates mix. I was curious what the difference is - should I buy both? I was hoping for some good descriptions.
Is the mtv pilates more geared towards beginners or are both good for beginners??

I truly appreciate your comments.

- And yes, I agree with the pilates/yoga post - I find the pilates to be good core work, and after taking two classes I felt like I was naturally standing staighter - spine felt like it was in proper alignment - so I think it does have a usefulness - just my 2 cents

:)

I have tried both videos from Netflix and I greatly preferred MTV's Pilates Mix. It's been a few months so I can't remember all the differences, but I really liked the Pilates Mix DVD - everything just seemed to flow and the time flew by, but I just didn't enjoy the other one as much.

I guess I would say that they are both intermediate, but definitely doable by beginners. I have taken a few classes and done Denise Austin's Pilates (because it was FREE from the library) but otherwise do not have a lot of experience with Pilates, and I was able to follow along with everything.

MTV Pilates is your standard pilates workout--basically the same pilates moves you'll see in other exercise DVDs. MTV Mix is completely different--it's pilates with a twist. It's much more creative & fun, although the difficulty level is definitely higher.
