Hello,

Has anyone seen it yet? Was it good? I’m thinking about going tonight or tomorrow. I just found out it is 3 hours long. I think since my child hood till now I have never seen a King Kong movie that wasn’t good. What is your take on this movie. Thanks

If you like a lot of special effects, then you will enjoy the film. I thought it was way, way too long and some of the sequences could have been edited--especially the one with KK and the tyrannosauruses and the finale on the Empire State Bldg. I also thought the "love" sequences between Naomi Watt and KK were a bit loopy. Not much dialogue and the natives looked like refugees from one of Romero's zombie films. I was entertained, but overall, I'd give it a B.

I enjoyed the movie but thought it was too long. It took way too long to rescue the damsel in distress and it just wasn't enough conversation for me. Don't regret going to see it at all!!! However, I like the older versions better.

It was well made, but a bit too long for me. I felt they could have shaved an hour off the film. Great special effects, but skull island and the airplane scenes were way too long. My kids loved it ages 8, 11, 13 & 14. Of course the 8 year old only like it when Kong was on and no love scenes.

I haven't seen it but my movie-going sister has and she said it was an awesome movie, didn't seem like three hours. She highly recommended it.

I saw the movie to and thought it was a good movie, I actually liked Jack Black in his part, I thought he was perfect for that. However, I must agree it was way too long. The scene with the ape and Naomi on an ice rink could have been dropped, as well as a few other scenes, I mean come on this is an ape. A larger than average size ape.

I think they could have cut 45 minutes out of the middle. It seemed to "Jurasic Park" to me and like they were showing off with the computer animation. Get the ape to New York already!

I am a big fan of Jack Black, but didn't like him here. I know he was supposed to be an unlikeable character, but it seemed a bit over the top.

Also, you have to leave you sense of logic at home. Kong rips Naomi from being suspended by ropes tied to her wrists. The ropes break, but she doesn't dislocate a shoulder? And how come the ropes aren't seen still tied to her wrists? Also, she runs barefoot through the jungle for hours on end - I can't walk down my driveway barefooted! And how does that small, crippled boat haul King Kong to New York?

On the plus side....

The scenes and depiction of the depression era were fabulous! And King Kong had the greatest range of emotion than any prior releases.

Go see it, and make your own judgement!
