Motivation

I've been using S&H now for a couple of weeks, and have been finding
that I get bored with the Chest and Back workout. I am much more motivated to work on my legs, shoulders, biceps and triceps because I can actually see those muscles developing. I'm also motivated by the ab and lower back work.

But even though I know how important they are, I can't see or feel my upper back or chest muscles develop, and it is therefore hard to motivate myself. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi Nancy,
I am right there along with you.I don't like working my back or chest either. My back more then my chest. But I think what keeps me going is he fact that my chest is usually sore after a work out so I know I have worked those muscles. So, I guess you could say that that is my motavation. But sometimes they only get worked once a week while my tri, bic, and shoulders get worked 3 times.
Thats about all I can help you with.I slept in and I need to do aerobics before I go to work.I wish I could stop the clocks for an hour..........

I had that problem initially, but once I started seeing the results, it helped.
I didn't see results though until I started going REALLY heavy with weight for both my chest work and back work. I mean, REALLY heavy, especially for my back. Like I had to push myself to increase the weight to like 60#bb for bentover rows, triple rows, etc., and use a 25#db for 1 arm rows, and 15#db for rear flys. Talk about struggling! But in just a short time, a matter of a few weeks (3-4), my back muscles were like "BAM!" My hubby noticed it first and commented on how my back was looking sculpted. Same for my chest work, but the heaviest barbell weight I've been able to get to is 50# (w/S&H) but for other series, usually a 40#bb, and I use 20#db for the chest work which require dumbbells. And the muscles popped right up. So once I could see the results, I began training them with as much enthusiasm as other body parts.
So try really increasing the weight you're using and I imagine you'll begin to see results that will make you happy.

Nancy---Give it some time. If you're sore and/or you know you worked the muscles hard, you'll eventually see results. I got a big surprise a few months after starting Slow Heavy---got a glimpse of my back in the mirror and I have some "cut" muscles back there! Also, my torso shape has changed from being wimpy up top --- I have more of a taper because my shoulders, chest, and back are much more muscular. I can really notice it in my delt/armpit area, if you know what I mean. PHave faith---you work hard and you'll see some results. Suzanne
