motivation lag : (

I haven't been quite on track for a month now. I took a week break and then started P 90X. I don't know what's wrong- heat, new videos, or what. I just don't feel motivated. I used to feel bad till I worked out, now I am making excuses NOT!!! Oh and my eating is going to pot too. I know I'm not overtraining cause I'm lucky to get 3-4 workouts in per week. I've been a regular exerciser for 3 years and don't want to give it up, but it's becoming a struggle. Once I work out I feels tons better.

well thanks for listening. I just needed to vent.

Work out. You'll feel tons better.

I too went through a period week before last where my mojo was in the toilet, and last Sunday God flushed - I completely blew off my Sunday 3-hour monsterthon . . . and regretted it the rest of the week. Today especially, when I hit my heavy weights and they hit right back at me.

I find when I get off track, in terms of scheduling AND intensity of workout bouts, my appetite also goes right into the pot as well. Working out keeps me wanting good, healthy foods; not working out drives my appetite down AND makes me crave junk more.

I'm finding that the hot, humid heavy air here in the midwest is affecting me. Summer is a time for me to endure, workout-wise.

Catherine and A-jock...Let me tell you about my crappy run today! I was hoping to do 12-14 miles. At about 7.5 I had to walk...not sure if it was the heat. I am in Northen Cal and don't have much humidity. I ended up walking a bit after every mile from the 7.5 and then walked the complete last mile! I barely made 11 miles. Maybe a rest day would help?
I have consumed too much junk food myself...those damn kettle chips...:)...I will say Catherine, I loved P90X! Except for KenpoX. Tomorrow I am going to try a Cathe workout that I find fun to get back into the swing of things...nice to know I have company...:+..Carole

I think it's a snowball effect and it will only get worse if I let it. It's nice to know I'm not alone!! It's so true about working out and healthy eating they go hand in hand. The more junk I eat the more I want and then the more I feel like a slug!! I had 2, not 1 but 2 pepsi colas yesterday!!!! Today has been some better though. I'll just keep on pushin forward.

thanks ladies!

You're all singing my song! June was a tough month for me and I was exactly where you're at, Catherine. I'm off from work this week and so yesterday I renewed my commitment to consistent work outs and am looking forward to getting back to them without the pressures of my job. I've trained for 20+ years but this truly was one of my worst slumps. It's all behind me now though. I'm not even getting hung up on easing into the routine with shorter, lighter sessions. I know the important thing is to get back in the game and stay consistent.

Good luck to all of you facing this challenge. As in all things, this, too, shall pass.

Catherine, I think we've all been there many times. For me a upswing has always followed the downswing, but I still dread those times when working out is more of a "chore". As Kim said so well, this, too, shall pass. This has been my mantra through my life. This was one of my dear dear aunt's favorites sayings and I've never forgotten it.

I just went through this after my spring break. One day turned into about SIX WEEKS!! I felt horrible. I gained about 2 pounds a week!! Picture yourself at that end and maybe you can pull yourself out of it.

For me, I had just done the Hardcore Fat Blast rotation, which was killer. I had to do something else for awhile. I have now found running, with only a few DVDs through the week for strength and abs. I have lost the weight I gained, but I am sad when I think of where I could be if I hadn't let myself go during that time.

You are aware that you want to get out of the rut, and that is the first step! Good luck!

I was in a bad lag for awhile too and it really stank! At the beginning of the year I made a goal to gain more muscle, lose the extra fat I had by working out with Cathe (that is when I started her videos) and by eating clean. I did great through March and I surpassed my goal weight and body fat %. Then I let myself slack a little thinking I could keep my success and had my cousins wedding, a vacation, and finals among other things that threw me off. For a good 2 months or so I would do great for like 2 weeks and then I would fall off again for like a week. Its only been a few weeks (Ive kept it up for more than 2 weeks so hopefully Im sticking with it again!) but I feel sooo much better and Im getting back close to my goal. What works for me is keeping a food and training journal that helps me hold myself accountable. Also I set daily goals and focus on one day at a time...which works wonders for me! Well I know we all can accomplish whatever we set our minds to! So keep on trucking girls :p
