Found this interesting. Saw it on TV. Did anyone see this story? I've love to read more about it. It was a while back though.

Coffee
Movie popcorn
Bottled water
Brand name prescriptions

Pop isn't on there? (I guess you call it soda in the States). Pop is just water with syrup, and costs about a penny to make 1 can.

Oh boy, let me chime in with cables on this one!
Printer cables, TV cables, etc...

They are marked up nearly 80%. I work in the computer world, and I know what we pay for them direct from Belkin, etc...

Ex: We bought a new TV a couple of years ago with the whole HDMI thing. So we needed the cables for that. The store where we bought everything quoted us $350. FOR 6 CABLES!
We bought them here at work for $80, instead.

Ripoff.

I have to add to this: I used to work at Bath and Body works. At that time you could buy a shower gel for $7.50, and the cost to manufacture and bottle it was $.05.

Oh, and this has to be up there: glasses' frames cost 10 cents each to manufacture, and are sold anywhere from $100-$500 each.

Don't forget HP toner cartridges!

I can't believe I didn't see toner cartidges on there. I really wonder what it costs to make those because it kills me to have to buy them. Does anyone buy their prescription drugs from Walmart? Is it true that it only cost $4?

I was thinking salon hair products. Most salons have to mark them up %50 percent to make their profits. As much as I would love to keep my money local I end up buying from the JC Penny sales, where the cost is much lower to get my Biolage ;)
