Morning heart rate

My birthday is at the end of the month, and the BF says he will get me either a couple of Cathe tapes or a HR monitor. I love Cathe, but I think that at this point I could really use a monitor (not sure on that--tough decision!!).

Anyhow, I was reading the Polar web site and was wondering: How do you take your morning heart rate? If it's supposed to be first thing in the morning before you get out of bed, how do you manage to get the chest strap on without squirming around so much that you're no longer at your morning and/or resting heart rate?? Or do you have to sleep in the damn thing--I think that would make me nuts.

Take your resting heart rate before you do anything. You don't have to put the strap around you, just lay it across your torso. You're going to squirm a little as you set up & send your heart rate up a bit, but just relax and give it a few minutes to drop back down.

I always have to get up during the night so I put my strap on then & take the reading when I wake up. The strap isn't very annoying to anyone who has worn a bra.

Hope that helps.

Thanks--I used to own a heart rate monitor that came with my treadmill. It was a Polar, but the strap only, and I can't imagine sleeping in it. (I'm a restless sleeper.) But if it works to just lay the strap across your torso, I can deal.
