Morality/Legality question...

Ok, so I was cruising some other sites and came across some Cathe's for sale. Sounds good, right? I've bought used Cathe workouts from this site before and been very happy. This time, though, I was sort of shocked. One post had the new Cathe's for sale, for $22 each, but they only ship after the seller receives the replacement DVDs!?! Would you really buy DVDs knowing they have some defect (and might not work at all) and you would have NO RECOURSE? Also legally, what can SNM do if someone does this? I've seen speculation that people would have their CCs charged for another set of workouts, but I'm not sure they can do that legally. Hmmm... Another listing had the FitTV version(s) of Cathe's workouts. These are clearly burned DVDs since they're not FS anywhere. Would you really pay $15 for a DVD-R (especially since the FitTV versions are usually not the whole workout)? Just wondering what the standard is, especially in light of the recent "Where to buy Cathe cheap" thread... I don't want people to get sucked in to raw deals. Thoughts?

Obviously people buy things from discounted websites all the time - amazon.com bluefly.com ebay.com ect......everyone is usually out for a good deal and that doesn't bother me - what bothers me is when people will try to copy a product and distribute it illegally - wrong! That is just wrong!

To be honest- Cathe offers a heck of a deal - if I have a problem with one of my dvds I know they are a phone call away....

My CTX is skipping in odd places, but I cannot bear to part with it -even for a moment, that i have not called customers service yet - at least not until I am onto another rotation - LOL -

I decided to use CTX through December bc of the time frame - its worked great so far!

Also, when the replacement DVDs are sent out, they will be sent with RASS envelopes for the old DVDs to be returned. I wonder if SNM is going to track whether or no the olds ones are received, and if they are, I'd be interested in how. I would think that they would try only so that the defective ones don't end up on the market by this same way!

Is it possible that the person selling the new Cathe DVD's are waiting to ship tthe DVD's after the replacements have arrived because it's the replacements that they will turn over to the buyer???

Sarah, that's definitely a possibility, and if that's the case, then I think that's very thoughtful of the seller :) I hope so for the buyer's sake!

Legit FitTV Cathe workouts are for sale at the Discovery store (Discovery I think is the parent company of FitTV), and yes they are the shorter versions. I don't know why anyone would want that version when they can buy the 'whole' workout and get that much more -- but to each their own.

Here's link to the FitTV vids:

The ones you are looking at could still be bootleg, so my advice is to only buy from a trusted source. There's too many dishonest people out there.

Not to be contrary, but I have the Core Max and Low Max DVDs from FitTV and it is the whole workout and contains all premixes that the DVDs on Cathe's website contain. So, it is the same DVD that you get from Cathe, but with some FitTV nonsense in the beginning. I totally would have bought them from Cathe's site and not bothered with the FitTV versions, but they were a very thoughtful gift from my mom after a trip to the mall.

That's what it sounds like.

As for selling "Fit TV" versions of Cathe's workouts, I think they might mean the ones that FitTV sells (packaged with a different cover, but basically the same workouts, I think) and NOT workouts they taped off of TV.

OK I just feel like I have to say this, & I don't mean any offense to anyone here, & I know we're all in different financial situations, BUT.........

I won't buy my Cathe DVDs from anywhere but directly from her. I don't know what kind of cut sites like Collage take from her, & I want to make sure she gets any & all profit from my purchases.

JMHO. Cathe does so much for us & I feel like it's the least I can do to remain loyal to her. I might be completely misguided in thinking that's how she can make the most profit, & if I am hopefully someone will correct me.

Again, no offense meant towards anyone. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it.

Yes, I can vouch for that too. I bought Low Max from a reputable seller on Ebay and it is a full 70 minutes with premixes even though it has Fittv on the front. I think they are the same workouts. They're just packaged for Fittv.

Carol, I am not as surprised by the people who burn DVD's and sell them illegaly as I am by the people who buy/bid on them and then leave positive feedback knowing the DVD is burned! That really chaps me!

I don't think Cathe will be tracking who returns the DVD's and who doesn't. No way could she charge again if you did not return the old ones. Can you imagine the uproar? What if people just "forgot"??

I think it is a morality issue. I think SNM will lose a lot of money from this oopsie. I bet it won't happen again. But if they send the return envelopes they stand to lose less $$. I know I will be sending mine back so I can sleep at night, LOL....;-)

No, actually, I would bet this incident is covered by SNM's commercial insurance which would likely respond to defective product claims.

I guess people could get away with not sending the old ones back, but I personally think that's pretty lousy. Who knows if they're tracking or not and if that might affect your future ordering capabilities??

Mine was labeled with tracking.I sent them back. My originals were fine except for a b&g premix.
I would think they are tracking. This keeps the bad ones, that makes them look bad off the market.
