Moms-to-be Check-In week of 11/05/06

Good morning mommies,

Here are my workouts from last week:

Sun - off
Mon - 30 min treadmill walk
Tue - PH Lower Body only + Abs
Wed - 30 min treadmill walk
Thu - PH Upper Body only
Fri - LIC cardio only w/o blasts
Sat - off (lamaze class)

I just loved the LIC cardio only w/o blasts workout on Friday. I did it on the platform with one riser each and it felt great. I can't wait to do the whole workout once the baby gets here.

I had my lamaze class this weekend, 4 hours on Friday evening and 7 hours on Saturday, which also included a tour of the hospital. I really enjoyed the class so much great information and it's getting so close unbelievable!!!
I will go to the breastfeeding class next Sunday for 4 hours and I am really looking forward to it.
We also bought the mattress for the crib yesterday and I washed all the bedding for the crib and got it all set up. It looks really nice! :7
Other than that, I am still feeling great, still sleeping great (except last night, we had thunderstorms all night long and it kept me up x() and my little baby girl is moving around like a champ. I had some swelling last week and I know it happens as soon as I don't drink enough, so I am trying to drink as much as I can.

Anyway, I hope that everyone else is doing good.

Looking forward to hear from you
Kristine :)

hi all moms-to-be,

I only got in one workout last week- Basic Step - urgh x( ..I'm disappointed b/c I don't have much longer to go now and then I'll be dealing with different challenges other than a pregnant body;-) . I had a tummy bug from Tuesday until Sunday - took forever to shake and I was in the hospital twice over that period for dehydration and monitoring. I hope this week is better for workouts and health in general...baby is doing just fine which is the important bit!

Kristine, I also went to a 4 hour long breastfeeding class - make sure they concentrate on the how-to basics. I thought my class was more like an advertizement on all the beenfits of breastfeeding. But, it was actually a good idea to attend if only to meet other women in a similar situation with first time babies. I really liked the hospital tour too.

I saw last week that someone was doing the Yoga Mama's prenatal yoga dvd...It made me chuckle b/c I bought it and tried it out but it made me cry everytime I did it during the first trimester (when emotions are running high), so I abandoned it!

I hope everyone has had a good week.

Take care,

Annie

Oh Annie, I am sorry to hear that you had a stomach bug. It was going around here at work too and my husband was so worried that I would get it too.
I am glad you are felling better and that the baby is doing fine!!!

Kristine :)

Hello Mommies,

Kristine - keep up those excellent workouts!! I'm always so inspired when I read your posts :) but not quite enough to get my lazy self up and actually do onex( Anyhow, glad you enjoyed your lamaze class. I decided to skip this time around. With my first pregnancy I had 60 hours of labor and I could not remember a thing from the lamaze class I took except not to tense up when the contractions hit (I remembered that at about 48 hours in, but I swear it helped to finally get things moving). Hopefully, you will be a better student than I was and will actually use what you learned!

Annie - Glad to hear you're feeling better:)

I have a question for all of the expecting mommies....what are your plans for flu shots this season? I've never had the flu and never had a flu shot, but my Dr. is strongly encouraging me to get the shot because treating the flu while pregnant is difficult. Of course, I'm very nervous about it, especially since many of the vaccines may contain thimerosal...a preservative containing mercury, which I've heard has been tied to autism. Since I only have a few weeks left, I'm considering skipping it. I'd love to know what others are doing?

Toodles,
Trish

Trish - I am due in 3 weeks, so I decided not to get a flu shot for the very reasons you've stated. I guess you could take into account when you're more likely to go into labor since it's not your first? I guess you're due just after New Years? Maybe you could find out whether the flu shot you would receive contains thimerosal? I thought thimerosal was only present in vaccines that combined more than 1 vaccination? not positive on that, but it seems to ring a bell...albeit vague one:) Also, I am not sure when the flu season usually peaks? If it's Jan or Feb, I'd definetely skip it.

Hi everyone!
Kristine, great workouts and that's so exciting you went to your Lamaze class.
Annie, so sorry you were feeling bad, I swear it's so hard to shake bugs when you are pregnant.
Trish, as far as flu shots,I am going to skip mine since I'm due in January. I honestly don't feel too worried about it, so hopefully I don't come down with it!

Last week went pretty well work out wise. My twin sister was in town this weekend and we had a great time getting pregnant gal pedicures (she is due with her first in June), and going for some nice walks together. Here's what I was able to do:

Monday – Fit for 2 Prenatal Class (Cardio & Toning – 45 min)
Tuesday – Rest Day
Wednesday – Fit for 2 Prenatal Class (Cardio & Toning – 45 min)
Thursday – Rest Day
Friday – D. Austin Fit & Firm Pregnancy (Cardio & Toning – 40 min)
Saturday – Walk (30 min)
Sunday – Walk (20 min)

Oh, very excited to hear that the new Low impact circuit dvd is a good one, I'll definitely be getting that and the low impact step dvd post baby to help get back in shape. I'm going to get the Crunch YogaMama dvd from my library to do in the last months for something real low key.

Have a great week all:)

Stacey

Baby#3 due 1/22/07
Emma born 4/27/03
Alex born 9/7/01

Thanks Annie & Stacey for your replies. I'm due on Dec. 31st and my 4-year old arrived a week early, so I expect this one will be early too. I think I'm going to go with my gut and skip the shot. I've never had the flu or a flu shot and to be honest, I feel like my immune system is stronger when I'm pregnant - maybe the body just goes into super-protective mode ;)

I'm so glad to hear that I am not the only one who will be skipping the shot. My Dr. was starting to make me feel a little weird about it - unintentionally, I'm sure, but still weird.

Take care!

Trish

HI Everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. As you know we have moved out of our house and have no internet connection. I am at DH's work right now using his computer.
I had a horrible nights sleep last night and I am feeling the effects of it today. I am so sleepy! It doesn't help that it is raining and cold outside.
We are hoping to move into the new house this weekend but nothing is final. If not, we will be in there early next week. I can't wait to get in there and get straightened away...then get the babies room ready and all its new clothes washed!
Anyway, just wanted to checkin to let everyone know that I am still alive and not gone into labour yet.
Lori:)

Hi Lori,

Geez! Moving is always a pain -- throw in 7 months pregnant to really make it horrible:-(. I hope you get settled soon. I'm sure once you're in the house working on the little one's room you will forget about all the discomfort ;-)

Take care,
Trish

HI all,

Sorry I'm checking in so late. I went in for my 8 week appt. and sonogram on Tuesday. It looks like since I got pregnant immediately going off the pill, I am really not 8 weeks. I guess when you first go off the pill your cycle is not what you think. The doctor thinks I am earlier than that around 5-7 weeks, so I'm scheduled to go back in next Tuesday for another sonogram so we can get a better view of the baby and measure just how far along I am. I cannot wait! Ugh!

I took a yoga class Sunday and really liked it. I'm going to another yoga class at my gym tonight.

Hope everyone is having a great week!
