moms to be check in 6/4

Cathlete
hello everyone. hope you are all feeling great and enjoying your pregnancy. what a crazy week i had. emotions are very up and down. started normal enough, but my us on weds showed a drop in fluid. was told i may need an amnio or induction and i needed to stop major activity. on friday at my grop b strep was happy to know i could keep working and doing light strength training and walking my dag. also was 1 cm dilated and my cervix is soft. then, the repeat us showed my fluid was back up! i was very very relieved needless to say, but i am struggling with reduced activity. i am a cardio junkie and miss my fix. hopefully am progressing along though as i lost my mucous plug saturday.

rachel and linda - are you guys feeling differences every day now?
curly - i hope you are still feeling great and maybe swimming a bit - sounds so nice.
glad some of you first trimesters are feeling less nauseous. i didn't realize how bad it was until i started to feel better.

my abreviated week:
sun - kpc, bootcamp legs and upper body ONLY
mon - low max, 30 min strength
tues - imax 2, cardio and weights step only
weds - stepblast, muscle endurance
thurs - no exercise at all
fri - legs and glutes, walk my dog 30 min
sat - 35 min toning, walk dog 30 min

Morris, you did enough exercise the last 9 months to last you years! Believe me though, you will get your figure back even with reduced activity. Glad the fluids are back up.

My week was not that good:

Mon - 30 minutes LowMax All Blasts
Tues - 30 minute all over body weights
Weds - 30 Minutes Tae Bo Extreme

This is all I did. I have been sleeping badly and extremely busy at work. My husband has also been out of town since Weds and will return tomorrow. Luckily this is the last time for him until after the baby comes as he still has not put the crib together and he has been crabby because he has so much to do at work. I don't dare ask my mother for help as she will only remind me that she had 4 children and how hard that was. She is the queen of having it worse than everyone else. (Sorry, I am feeling a bit sorry for myself today and needed to vent. Seems like everyone expects me to do all that I used to even though I am nine months pregnant.)

Hopefully I will get enough sleep tonight and work out again tomorrow.

What exercise does everyone plan for between delivery and 6 week check up? My doctor says walking only but I don't know how long I can wait. I rode my horse (which I no longer have) at 5 weeks postpartum last time. I had a really easy delivery though.

Rachel

Morris,

In answer to your question I feel the same most days just more tired as I get less sleep.

Glad your fluid levels are up.

As of Friday I am not dilated at all but baby's head is down.

I took my daughter to the hospital on Saturday for a Sibling Celebration party. They got to see a real newborn. I had forgotten how small they are! It made me even more anxious for mine to come.

Rachel

Due 6/25/06 with girl #2

rachel, i know just what you mean after seeing the little ones. my friend brought her 7 week old to work on friday, and i just couldn't put her down. cannot wait. glad the baby's head is where it should be. and i am sorry your dh is out of town. i had a terrible time emotionally when mine was gone for so long. but i am sure he will get back and get things going with the crib. i miss sleep too. seems like 3am is the time to be up! makes work exhausting for sure.

i am interested in what people say about workouts after delievery until 6 weeks. i saw that shopaholic is doing some stuff in addition to walking. how long did you bleed after your daughter? that is great you rode so much postpartum before. i miss horses as lot as i mainly just take care of small animals now.

We're getting so close!!

Morris - I'm glad your fluid levels are back up. Hopefully they'll stay that way until delivery.

Rachel - I hear you about being tired. I don't sleep very well at night anymore (I'm a bit uncomfortable and *hot*! all the time).

First Trimester Ladies - Hang in there!! The baby books aren't lying when they say that the second trimester is the "honeymoon" period.

My GBS test was negative - yay!! It looks like it's "all systems go" for me. Doc says the U/S won't be fixed before my delivery, so no ultrasound for me. I've also requested not to have cervical checks, since any information they provide would either: A) make me think I'm going to deliver tomorrow (and be disappointed if I don't); or B) make me feel like I'm not progressing enough. My doctor *can* verify that the baby's head down, though.

Workouts are continuing, with lots of modifications:
Sun: Prenatal Yoga
Mon: 30 min walk, CIA All-Body Cardio
Tues: Firm BSS4 Cardio
Wed: 30 min walk, Cardio and Weights
Thurs: Seasun Rock Steady Step
Fri: Frim BSS3 Cardio/Weights
Sat: LowMax

After baby, I plan to start walking ASAP. For indoor work, I bought some Leslie Sansone vids to start off with. I'm also planning on using Cathe's Basic Step.

Hi laaaaaaaaaaadies!
I did Lo Max 3 times last week, was super busy.
Had some nausea here and there, and too some hormonal swings;(
I get light headed everytime I get up from the floor playing with Hannah, my FIL says it's cuz it's my 2nd preg and your uterus is thinner and lower and the blood doesn't always get to where it's needed so quickly. Man there's times I think I'm going down, but I always revive quickly. I drink a lot of water so I know it's not that.

Chi chi, it's in the 100's here!!!

Morris, I stopped bleeding at 3 weeks and was in the water right when it stopped. Also, I had an episiotomy, like completely cut in 2 (didn't feel it though, don't worry;-) ) I started walking right away, not long distance though. My FIL said it's important to walk for leg circulation and to avoid leg blood clots. Then I started the elliptical gradually at the second week and once healed started Cathe intensively. But careful because you'll get air up there at first til it goes back to normal, LOL! Do those Kegels. I know some of you can relate:7

curly, b/c i am so new to all this, pleasse explain what you mean when you say be careful about the air. is it bad? painful? annoying? i was hoping to start back by walking and doing some very modified step workouts as well as weights if it felt okay. figured i'd just see what i felt i had time for and was up for. but i cannot wait to run with my dog again. course i know i will have other stuff on my mind too.

LOL! Well, have you ever done yoga and went upside down and accidentally due to nature some air went up your you know what....
hee hee. I know others know what I'm talking about. Okay after you have a baby your you know what opening is stretched and when you kickbox or jump, air goes up there, it won't hurt you it's just totally strange, and has one way to come out;-) But your you know what totally goes back to normal. But the month following just having a baby that can happen:7 :7
You are so funny, nothing to modify or worry about, you'll see what I mean. Not painful, funny.

thanks for the info curly. i am sure i will know just what you are describing in the not too distant future!

Rachel, looks like you'll be joining us moms soon!
linda, I was glad I had the internal exams. With both kids, doc said I would go soon and within days, 2 weeks early, went with both girls.
Morris, you've gotten some great advice here but ui'll add some more. One, yes, you are dying to hold your newborn but be prepared they are tiring and never sleep when you want them too. The rewards of babies come later when they smile at you and say momma for the first time. I warn you of this because half my friends had postpartum depression. All will say they were greatly looking foward to the newborn stage. I , on the otherhand, thought it would stink (well the poop does stink) and dreaded it both times. As a result, I was realistic in my expectations and enjoy being a mom again. Next for execise, remember you shouldn't jog with a newborn. next, the first week you will be bleeding alot and sore even with an easy delivery. The second week you start feeling human again. At 2 1/2 weeks postpartum my bleeding has slowed. It stops and returns slightly at night.

As for you other moms to be questioning postpartum exercise, I have been doing walks , postpartum tapes and recently began doing light weights. I think the leslie sansone tapes should be good, basic step and I did step for 2 (step for pregnancy) last time.

its funny you posted today, shopper, as i saw the doc and asked about ppd. has been at the abck of my mind for a while d/t family history and always hating hormonal fluxes. what you said made a lot of sense though. lower the expectatins or at least know it will be hard. i am excited to meet my guy. but i know i am not the best at being exhausted. did most of your friends require help with the depression or did it pass on its own? glad your bleeding has just about stopped. is it worse after you exercise? also, i know i won't jog with my guy until next year, but i look forward to at least jogging myself:)

Hi Morris, glad I didn't sound too negative. I find the bleeding worse the end of the day, not necessary after exercise. 2 of my friends went on antidepresants, 1 let it pass and one didn't realize it was postpartum depression until years later. I was really fearful of having it due to my family history but I didn't have it at all. I really believed it helped to have realistic expectations of parenthood, and of ourselves. I allowed dd#1 to cry at times to care for myself and didn't expect to be a perfect parent. Oh, morris if you didn't know it I am a liscenced therapist. Back to exercise, I am sure you will love the day when hubby takes your little one, and you go back to running.

Hello there,

I have been a lurker on Cathe's forums for quite some time - and have always been impressed by the knowledgeable and warm people who post here ... and today I found out that I am PREGNANT!! It will be my first (I had a m/c last October - so I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one) and I would really like to know some other moms-to-be out there and to share their experiences.

So far, so good (11 dpo) tomorrow I go to the doctor to get a pee/blood test for progesterone and hcg level monitoring. Has anyone else done this? How often did you have to get your levels checked and for how long?

Thanks everybody,

arancini:)

hi arancini

congratulations! it is wonderful feeling, isn't it? good luck at the dr, and try not to worry. i had hcg levels done, and my understanding is the frequency will depend on your level and risk. my level was borderline at the first etst so they repeated it twice over the next 10 days so they could see it rise correctly. no progesterone levels for me - they just supplemented me. that was probably the worst part of my whole pregnancy just b/c of side effects, but you get used to it, and it sn't so bad. keep us posted!

hi everyone!

i'm very late checking in (as usual x() so i won't bother to review my workout from last week. it wasn't too exciting anyway!

arancini - congrats and welcome!! will this be your first child? i'm near the end of the 1st trimester and am really looking forward to the 2nd.

morris - i suffered from (self-diagnosed;)) ppd. after my DD was born for the first 3 to 4 weeks i cried everyday when she would go to sleep and i always felt very lost and alone even though my husband was there with me. as funny as it sounds today, all i wanted was to be with my parents -- and i was 30 years old at the time!! i would sit in my bathroom and cry while my DD slept and i never wanted to leave the house - for any reason. i didn't know it was ppd then and i still don't officially know now, but i will certainly recognize it sooner and seek help if i need it.

toodles,
trish

Good morning Ladies!!!

I am the last one to check in this week, wow! I was just so busy at work the last three days, that I just didn't have a chance to check in.

I can't remember my workouts from last week, but I did workout 5 days last week, yeah :7 , I am so proud.
I am starting to feel a little better, less nauseous, that's for sure and now it only really hits me if I don't get enough rest, like last Friday.
I had a long long day on Wednesday and didn't get a lot of sleep. I still made it ok through Thursday but on Friday it really caught up with me and I was just laying around all day and I was nauseous all day. x(

It seems like I am getting a little more tired again, but I can handle that as long as I am not nauseous. It might be the heat too, we are having over 100 degrees  .

I have another Dr.'s appoinment tomorrow and I am excited. Hopefully we get to hear the heart beat. I'll keep you all posted.

arancini - Congratulations, this is wonderful!!! This is my first one as well and I am really excited. These girls on the forum are awesome and you can always ask questions.

I hope that everybody is having a good week.

Kristine :)

Hello everybody -

Thanks for the warm welcome! I went to have my pee/blood test this morning to verify the pregnancy and check my levels - I about died when they told me the urine came back negative!! My home test was not even one of the most sensitive ones (ept - it takes a level of 40 hcg) and that was yesterday. I drove home and just got the call that the blood came back positive (a very faint +, but ++++ :). Whew!

Now it's off to the fridge - again. Anything super hot and spicy has been all I've wanted for the last week, so anything covered in jalapenos will do ...

I hope everbody has a great end of the week - good luck at the dr's, Kristine.

Hello!

I'm fairly new to Cathe F. step aerobics. Received the basic step dvd for Christmas and LOVE it. I plan on buying more of her dvd's as I progress.

I'm also new to the forum, and just discovered I'm pregnant with baby #3!! I also have a 4 1/2 yr old boy and a 3 yr old girl. I'm so excited to join the forum, and am quite inspired by all the fit moms here. My goal for this pregnancy is to be as healthy as possible, eat well and exercise at least 5 days a week (as my body permits).

Here is my workout schedule from last week, it really helps motivate me to type it up each week and keep track of it.

Week 1 (May 28-June 4):
Monday – Gin Miller Step Aerobics (30 min) & Walk (30 min)
Tuesday – Rest Day
Wednesday – Aerobics/Arms Toning (30 min) & Walk (30 min)
Thursday – Rest Day
Friday – Rest Day
Saturday – Cathe F. Basic Step (30 min) & Pilates Arms Toning (10 min)
Sunday – Prevention Walk your Way Slim (45 min)

Looking foward to chatting with you all
Stacey;-)

Omigosh, it's soooooo funny how Basic Step on 6 inches feels like the most challenging workout being this pregnant. LOL. I'm soaked and winded. Boy does my belly tighten I swear she's about to slide out sometimes doing it!! I'm so low, I don't know how I have 7 weeks left!!!
emackey, I agree with you. The hotter the better. I put jalapenos on my sandwiches. I put Tapatio hot sauce on everything and cook it in everything too. hee hee.
Chichi, is your boy here yet???????????
