I was going to entitle this Mom's of Toddler's who won't sleep through the night thread. What is the deal....just when I get Noah to make it a night through, the next night he screams for an hour in the middle of the night and he gets up at 5 am screaming again. He used to LOVE his crib, but now he wants to be held to get to sleep. Oh my!! I'm wondering if he's teething...although I can't see anything going on.
Oh a good note...I completed the 5K. I was wiped out from Great America on Thursday so I skipped going to the ladies weekend on Friday night and almost opted out of the 5K due to sore ears, nose and throat and NOAH keeping me up all night. But in the morning, I figured....well it's either do a Cathe workout or go do the 5K...might as well run. I was super surprised when the times came in and I got first place for my age group. I thought...your kidding!!! It's not a big 5K...there were 120 participants, but most of those were adults. I remember looking at this one lady before we took off and she was tall and long legged and in my age group and looked VERY athletic and thinking....well I know she's gonna blow me away, but she came in 8 minutes behind me. Mel...when you ran...were you surprised by the outward appearance of those you thought would do great and how they actually did in the race. Looks can be very deceiving. ON the OTHER hand...there was this lady and her daughter (found out she was 37), who I was observing in the beginning.... stretching etc...she had incredible legs, sinewed muscles....gorgeous calves. She did extremely well. I think she came in at 22 minutes and her daughter was just a few seconds after her (daughter was 10).
Other funny thought regarding 5K's. The officient (is that a word) at the beginning of the race said..."will all those who are faster runners step up to the front of the line" and a huge group of people stepped forward (in front of all us slow ones). I told the lady next to me....why didn't he just say "will those not wearing clothes step up to the front of the line and we'll begin". (the guys with tiny little shorts on (no shirt) and the women with sports bras and teeny shorts - long legged, thin, muscled individuals) When all was said and done....these WERE the fastest runners. Next year....I'm running NUDE. I think that's the ticket.
So how is everyone else doing??? Maggie...they told me my daughter had "slapped faced syndrome" (is this the same as fifth's disease?), but I insisted they do a lymes test and she was positive for lyme's. When they first thought it was "slapped face syndrome"..they mentioned that you don't want to expose her to pregnant women...but it's extremely rare for anything to be contracted by prego's and they mentioned it's only while they are in the first trimester that there is a risk. Also...they mentioned that most people have had this at some point in their lives so you may have had it when you were younger. Hope that helps.
Briee (sorry this got so long)
