Moms 2Be Check In: August 28/05

FiddleFit

Cathlete
Hi everyone! How has your week been? It's been a difficult week for quite a few of us, unfortunately. I hope this week turns out better.

This was my activity for the week:

MON: Cardio Hits Combo (SF w/u; SF combo 1; SW combo 2; PM combo 3, c/d & stretch).
TUES: High Step Circuit
WEDS: SJP w/u, step combos, SB Challenge, c/d, & stretch
THURS: KM combos, MM lower body premix
FRI: Classics Combo (SJ w/u; SM combo 1; SJ combo 2; SH combo 2, c/d & stretch).
SAT: BS, MM upper body premix
SUN: rest

Last Monday I lost a small bit of mucous plug, and had some menstrual-like cramps off and on for a few days. My midwife thinks that I'm probably already dilated a couple of centimetres, although they don't perform internals. Apparently it's quite normal for women who've already had a baby to begin to dilate early. I could be this way for weeks, she says. But it has spurred me to actually get us ready for the birth! I spent a good chunk of my week (and money!) preparing for baby. It feels good to have everything ready.
Personally, I will be surprised if I go the full 40 weeks, but that's just my hunch. Baby may surprise us and decide to hang around even longer (please no!).

Have a good week!
Sandra

Sandra - Wow - how exciting! :) I'll be watching the boards and keeping my fingers crossed for you... (hmmmm...could THIS be the week?! :) )

My past week didn't go as planned, but I'm hoping to do better coming up:

Sunday - Family Reunion for DH - didn't know ANYONE, so spent (literally!) 4 hours at the playground entertaining my kids (lots of walking, swing pushing and carrying)
Monday - Rest
Tuesday - Walked 5 miles (treadmill) - even jogged a bit :)
Wednesday - Walked/jogged 3 miles
Thursday - nothing - worked late
Friday - nothing - studied (exam coming)
Saturday - went out of town with kids for the day(DH had a golf tournament) We got some walking in, and had lots of activity, but no w/0

I have a dr's appt this week with the quick glucose test. Not anticipating any problems, just dreading the time spent hanging out at the lab...

Anyone affected by back-to-school? My DD#1 started a pre-school program, but it's at the same daycare that she's been going to, so it hasn't affected our schedule. She's been moody and prone to tantrums, but I'm thinking that's part of the transition working itself out. It's hard to switch from the summer schedule to a little more structure, and she manages to hold it together until she gets home (no behavior problems at school) so it's just something we'll have to get through...just wish I had more energy and patience some days :)

Monday- walk 2.5 miles, run some stairs
Tuesday- walk 1.5 mile after dinner
Wednesday- Basic Step, Bootcamp lower body stuff
Thursday- big nothing (except I got a haricut)
Friday- Imax 2 step 1-10, intervals 1,2,7,10 (I think- just the easy ones), ME upper body
Saturday- walked to farmer market (about 1.25 miles each way)-- about keeled over with ligament pain (I think it's from hunching over while pushing the stroller- i will ask dr.- it never happens when i walk without the stroller)
sunday- nothing-- had brunch this morning and a picnic this evening

my older daughter starts her 2nd year of montessori preschool tomorrow. i think she's ready, but i am not ready to start packing lunches and driving.

have a good week.

Oooh! Sandra--you are so close. 37 weeks--how time flies. I hope you are not late either. It does not sound like you will be, but I'd be nuts if I was late. That last month of pregnancy seems to drag.

Gracenote--I hate situations where I don't know anyone. Very awkward. I'm something of an introvert and not good at small talk, so that does not help. As far as back to school, I home school and we school year round with breaks, one of which started last week. I will begin again October 3 or maybe a week earlier. Depends on how restless I get. This is my long break, so I am doing lots of lesson planning and home organization to get ready for the next year.

Kristan--where is your ligament pain? I get pain over my uterus that is so bad I literally cannot move. I've been stuck before, unable to get up. Lord help me that none of my kids have a crisis or we have an earthquake or something when I am in that condition. I have to wait 2-3 minutes for it to subside so I can move again.

And yes, it has been a rough week for a number of us :-( . I hope things improve.

I tweaked my back, my lower back, probably from trying to do to much, which is generally the reason I have injuries. Normally, I take rest weeks every 10-12 weeks, because my injury-prone body seems to need it, but because I was slowing down for pregnancy, I decided not to do this. Big Mistake!!! Now I am going to have to take a rest week or risk hurting myself to the point of not being able to work out for a long time. I hope my weight does not shoot up.

My week:
Mon-Rythmic Step (back hurt a little, should have stopped)
Tues-Power Hour (back hurt)
Wed-Low Max (back hurt more)
Thurs-rested
Fri-ME upper body premix, 30 min stationary bike
Sat-45 min stationary bike intervals
Sun-rest

I may do some light upper body this next week and some stationary biking and stretching, but mostly I am going to take it easy:-( .

hope everyone is doing better
Maggie
21 weeks today--and feeling the baby lots more:7

Hi ladies! DH bought us a Sleep Number bed this week. Yahoo! Love it, especially pregnant. We don't have our sleep numbers set yet, so it sounds like we have a ventilator in our room at night. Every once in a while one of us will change our number. It's quite comical.

State Fair is this week. I've never been to the Minnesota State Fair. A friend of mine invited me & the kids, so we'll be driving 4 hrs with 4 kids for this thing on Wednesday. I figure I could probably forgo working out that day with all that walking (and eating, of course).

I too have a p/g check up this week. I forgo the glucose testing. I've never done it, and don't plan on ever doing it. I know...I"m just too impatient & figure I"m such low risk. If I become symptomatic then I'll get tested.

Sun: Janis' Kick it + Abs
Mon: off
Tues: off/ super tired I took a nap
Wed: Mindy's Cardio Options
Thurs: High Step Challenge TS#2
Fri: Cardio & Weights
Sat: off (it was my Sat to work a 10.5 hr shift, no NRG to w/o)

Me too! That was what happened when I had my DS (and my water broke too). Keep us posted!

My week was ok but I didn't get in any Cathe.

Sunday: walked 1 mile
Monday: walked 2 miles
Tuesday: walked 2.5 miles
Wednesday: nothing b/c my son broke his arm so between being at the hospital and giving him some TLC there was no time to workout
Thursday: walked 2.5 miles
Friday: walked 2.5 miles

I also have a dr appt this week, mine is on Friday morning.

Last night I put together the crib and cleaned out the room we are going to use for the baby. I got some cute gingham valances and I put those up. I have a spare bed in there so I want to get some blue sheets & a comforter to match. I still need to get a dresser and I'm debating on whether or not I want to put up any wallpaper border. I have all the clothes and blankets washed - just need a dresser to put them in. I even bought diapers, wipes, etc. So I'm prepared.

Have a great week ladies!

Sandra, your workouts amaze me! Like usual mine are minimal compared to yours.

Monday - push mowed lawn (1 hour)
Thursday - took DS and dog for walk (1 hour)

I've been experiencing a lot of painful Braxton Hicks for the past week and a half. After my walk on Thursday I had BH all night long and was really worried that I might go into labor. That normally would not be a problem however DH was in Iowa for work.

At my doctors appointment on Thursday the doctor checked my cervix. I'm 2-3 cm dilated already. However that probably does not mean much because with DS I was dilated 2-3 cm by my 36 week appointment then too and the doctor induced me the day before my due date with DS. However my doctor jokingly told me that if I wanted to have the baby that Thursday night to come on into the hospital. She was on call. It won't hurt my feelings any if DD decides to come early. No matter what she will be born Sept. 9 when I am induced.

Sandra, I hope you don't have to wait til the 40 week mark or later (GASP!).

Sandra, after rereading your post, I wanted to add more to mine but the time has expired. You might just be the next one to have your baby! I don't think you will have to wait until 40 weeks at all!

Well, it's been kind of tough on this end too, but then I think about what you're going through, JulieL, and I know I should be grateful that it's all minor discomforts. But far be it from me to refrain from complaining so here I go....OK, so I apologize in advance if this is TMI and I caution the squeamish not to continue, but I'm am in so much pain and discomfort in my nether-regions. More precisely, I now suffer from a horrible case the dreaded H. Yes, that's right--hemerroids. I am so uncomfortable that all I want to do it lie in bed. I've tried over the counter remedies and no relief. I see my doc for my regular four-week appointment on Wednesday, and I just pray that there's something she can prescribe that's stronger than the OTC stuff.

This past week wasn't a great one for exercise, and my current condition makes it unlikely I will be exercising any time too soon (Sigh). Actually, I blame the squats from my Saturday workouts from sparking this current discomfort. Oh no! I'm turning into complainy pregnant lady!!! x( So here's my weak week:

Sunday: rest (tightness in abdomen Saturday so taking it easy)
Monday: rest
Tuesday: LM step only; MM legs only
Wednesday: Walked two miles on incline (30 min); upper body & abs (my own routine)
Thursday: rest
Friday: KPC/L & G premix + abs
Saturday: nada—spent all day working on the nursery!

Hi everyone, I hope this week is better for you!

Very busy at work lately, with no relief in sight. I had to work late last night, so no workout. :(

However, I did take a week of vacation last week :) so I did get a lot of much-needed rest.

Sun: Walked almost two miles
Mon: Walked a little more than two miles
Tue: 3 mile run/walk, Pure Strength Chest/Shoulders/Triceps
Wed: Pure Strength Back and Biceps, Step Blast Combos 1-3 add-on
Thu: Crunch Yoga Mama
Fri: KPC/LG premix #15 - Kick/Punch Drills With Leg Work(Ankle Weights) + abs
Sat: Kick Max - Kick and Punch combos and Leg Conditioning Drills

Sandra that sounds so encouraging to be getting so close! Your past the term mark so that baby is good to come any time! :) Let us know what else is going on!

MSJ - your ligament pain sounds aweful. Does it have anything to due with having multiple pregnancies? I hope you get some relief. Does it happen every day? I swear pregnant bodies are like broken down cars! I hope things improve for you!

Kristi, maybe you'll be next ;) Or it could be a tie between you and Sandra! Hang in there, your getting so close!

Monica don't feel bad, being pregnant is hard no matter what. Sometimes it's just good to vent, we all understand! I had a slight problem with the dreaded H a week before all of this ctx stuff started, thankfully it went away, but that is an aweful feeling. For two nights I sat on a ice pack groaning - so I hear your pain! Hopefully the doc can help you out! Oh and working out like that is NO fun either! Here's to some relief for you!

I introduced myself a few weeks ago to this board, but then dropped off the planet (okay, I sank into the couch).

I am embarrassed to admit that I am a sloth these days. I've been so nauseous that the idea of exercise has me exhausted!! I'm starting to feel a bit better, which is a welcome change

I had my 8 week check up on Friday. I've only gained 2 pounds so far, so I'm quite happy about that (and I got weighed after eating a slice of veggie pizza and drinking a lot of water LOL!).

Does anyone have a Pilates or yoga for pregnancy video to recommend? I'm in the market.

Allison

New Catheite here...

just did my first Cathe cardio yesterday (I have been doing the Pure Strength series for about a month)

I am 5 weeks pregnant and feeling okay...

Allison, Yoga Mama is good...don't know of any others...

Firmmama,

Congratulations and welcome to the pregnancy forums!! What was the Cathe cardio that you did?

I hope you have a good pregnancy! Is it your first?

Sandra

Allison--collage video sells pregnancy pilates videos, but I have not done any of them. I don't know about yoga. I hope you are feeling better soon. Feeling sick sucks! But at least you are not gaining much weight. I always gain like a pig in the 1st trimester.

Firm mama--welcome to the forum! I like your ticker.

Maggie:)
