Cathlete
Good Sunday morning everyone!

Sundays are always my rest day, and I have the hardest time getting going in the mornings, without my exercise boost. I enjoy the extra sleep, but man do I have to drag myself around, and force myself to get going for the day.

My week was enjoyable:

MON: IMAX2 (modified some blasts); CTX chest & back
TUES: KickMax combos 1-4; PLB standing legs; CTX shoulders
WEDS: Christie Taylor's Totally Cool Step; CTX biceps
THURS: BodyMax step; KickMax leg conditioning drills; CTX triceps
FRI: All-Step; Power Circuit; PC abs (on the stability ball)
SAT: Christie Taylor's Step Heaven (first half only); MuscleMax upper body premix
SUN: rest

Gracenote - The situation at your work sounds dreadful and extremely stressful. Are you still on "wait and see", or are the layoffs over? Push Pull is a great workout for pregnancy, IMO. I really enjoy it. Supersets comes on the same dvd and it's also extremely good. Has your body finally understood that you're well past the 12th week?

MSJ - You're doing some great workouts, despite your fatigue. How many weeks along are you now? Is the end of the first trimester in sight?

Dana - how's your son doing at his lessons? Is he actually learning how to swim, or just getting comfortable in the water? I've got my dd enrolled in a 2-week daily swim lesson, in July, and am wondering whether she'll actually learn how to swim this time. Or at least, keep her head above water.

Julie - excellent work on the running! You'll be back to your regular pace and distance after the baby's born, I'm sure. Pregnancy hormones conspire to make things like that harder than they need to be.

Kristan - how did you like Step Fit? I didn't buy MSB until I'd already had most of Cathe's workouts, so it's never seemed that hard to me. But my first group of Cathe workouts were Step Jam; Step Works; and Power Max. I remember thinking the power scissors in PM combo #1 were just exhausting, and that Step Works was super advanced. Boy, did I get a shock when I first tried IMAX1!!

Kristi - Sometimes a week's rest is what the body needs.

Cheers,
Sandra

Hi Sandra & other Mommies to be!

My workouts aren't too marvelous, but I did something anyway!! I told my boss about the pregnancy Saturday, so now I'm just going to relax and enjoy my pregnancy (does one ever 'enjoy' their pregnancy?!).

Anyway:
Mon: 4 mile run
Wed: FIRM Complete Aerobics + Weight training (got at garage sale for ten cents)
Fri: 4 mile run

I always tell myself I need to workout at LEAST every other day. FIRM wasn't too bad. My back was actually sore the next day. ;)

Hi everyone!

Sandra--9 weeks today and still not feeling very well, but a bit better overall. Your workouts look great.

Melani--I'm impressed that you are able to run 4 miles. I don't think I could to save my life. I was going to start again, because my knee has been feeling much better, but then...well I'm not going to start in my current condition.

My workouts for the week
Mon-SH chest+IMAX 3 1-5
Tues-SH back+Lowmax 1-4
Wed-SH shoulders+HSTA legs/cardio premix
THurs-SH biceps/triceps+IMAX 2 1-7
Fri-walk on beach
Sat-2 walks on beach
Sun-rest

I was eating really well, until we took our mini-vacation and then not so well, but I did not gain this week. Hurray!

Maggie

This week wasn’t great, but not horrible. I’m still sick, especially as the day goes on, but I managed:
Monday: Walk
Tuesday: Firm – Total Body Sculpt
Wed: packed a picnic, loaded the car, took 2 toddlers and 6 loads of comforters/pillows to the Laundromat (seasonal cleaning), went to the park for lunch and ran around the playground for 2 hours. I figure that counts for aerobics, plus strength (carrying all those loads of laundry should count for something! :) )
Thursday – Circuit Max
Friday – worked late, sick – no workout
Saturday – sick again. Had a lower digestive ‘attack’ that was pretty rough - almost like the flu. Not sure what caused that…
Sunday – swimming with the girls

Sandra – They say they’re done with the ‘streamlining’ as they call it, but in the same sentence, they talked about market conditions, etc, so it leaves the door open. They want to keep us edgy, I think. I still don’t know what the benefits will be – we’re keeping what we have until the end of the year, so I know what I’ll start with, but not how it will end. I’m feeling cautiously optimistic – I kind of like the energy around the office these days, although I would have preferred a different way of creating it!

Melanie – I hope we can all enjoy these months. I have to say, every once in awhile I have a moment when I feel so powerful and amazing. I’m blown away by the idea that we can ‘make’ a new person! To heck with the pains, discomfort, stretch marks, weight, ugly clothes etc. We are doing a really incredible thing… yeah, then a wave of nausea knocks me on my butt and that’s the end of that! ;) I figure I will only be pregnant for a short time and I’ll have the rest of my life to enjoy Cathe after that. Someone remind me of this the next time I complain, okay? ;)

Maggie – your week looks really great – if that’s your ‘current condition’ you have nothing to worry about! Glad your knee is feeling better, too.

Did anyone have pre-pregnancy fitness goals that got interrupted? Any preg fitness goals? Don't mean to be nosy - just trying to get a feel for where everyone is/was and what your goals are/were. I was trying to get in better shape (lose weight - maybe 10 pounds, strengthen all over), but TTC at the same time. I seem to need to cut back a bit to get pregnant, so it was slow progress at best. My preg goals are to maintain or improve arms and legs strength plus control weight gain.

hope you all have a great week!

KC

Gracenote, I was hoping to run 1/2 marathon this year. 2 years ago I ran my first 10K. It was tough (but I was about 9 wks pregnant when I ran it). Last year I ran a 5K & came in 1st in my age group. Yahoo!!! So, I was hoping to take it up a notch. DH won't let me run races during pregnancies. I guess I don't blame him. There's a 3K that I MIGHT run. Haven't decided yet...

Goals that got interrupted? um, yes. I had gone from a size 18 to a size 6(after #5) and was working my way to my goal, a size 4. Now I feel like a big hurking cow at 9 weeks.

My preg goals are to gain no more than 40 lbs (a small amount for me --really) so that I have no more than 15 lbs to lose after the baby is born, instead of my normal 30-50 (which I have lost numerous times, but it's a lot of work and I don't want to deal with it this time).I think with a little self-control on the eating end of things, I can do it!!!)

I am jealous of all you ladies, who do not seem to gain weight as easily as I do.:9

Maggie

Hi ladies.

Gracenote: during 03-04 I lost 30 lbs and I wanted to lose 20 more before getting pregnant. Well that didn't happen! So my post-preg goal is to lose all my preg weight + the 20lbs.

Sandra: swimming lessons are going great. The pool where he is going is having the High School swimteam run the lessons. So the groups are very small. Gabe is in a group with 2 other boys and they have 2 instructors in his group. Each group is assigned to their own lane. The lane, the group, and the instructors are the same for every class. They are not allowed to wear arm floaties - they use kickboards to keep the kids floating. He is learning arm strokes, kicking and they are going off the diving boards. A lot of the kids are just handed off the diving boards to an instructor waiting in the water to get them familiar with it but my Gabe loves it. He jumps right off.

I had such a busy week my workouts suffered. Not to mention it rained almost every day so I couldn't walk at lunch. I got in 2 measley workouts.
Tuesday I did PS chest/shoulders/triceps & walked 3.5 miles
Wednesday I did PS back/biceps/abs & walked 3.5 miles.

This is going to be another bad week. We are having HOT, humid weather high 80's, low 90's so it is going to be way to hot to walk during my lunchbreak (I hate coming back to my desk all sweaty & smelly), we've got swimming lessons every night, and I've got a viewing to go to on Wed night. I'm not going to worry about it this week - I'll get in what I can and hopefully next week things will calm down.

So far everyone looks to have had a great week! Keep it up! :)

another week that i haven't been able to do too much. i've have horrible back pain for the past week. i've called my dr. to see if there was anything that i could take for it because it is literally keeping me up all night long :-(
they told me at 26.5 weeks along i could take motrin but to stop immediately at 27 weeks, as it could cause my cervix to open:-(
as it was so close i choose not to take anything but just grin and bear it. however i plan on calling the dr. again this week as it hasn't gotten any better.
i didn't have any pregnancy goals except to continue working out and not gain alot. however now i've set my sights on my post-preg goals and that is too loose the weight and gain back my muscle tone ASAP.

you gals are looking great!

KC,

I'd met my pre-pregnancy fitness goals, which were to lose all the weight from baby #1 (and then some), and get into great shape. My pregancy goal was to exercise throughout the pregnancy, and continue to eat healthy, in order to keep my weight gain at less than 35 pounds. Well, that goal got substantially revised when first trimester hormones prevented me from intaking anything that was healthy, and only eating high cal/high fat foods (mostly protein). At 10 1/2 weeks I was also put on bedrest, that ended up last 9 weeks. As a result of these two things I think I've put on about 10 pounds that I otherwise wouldn't have. So, my pregnancy goal now is simply to keep the weight gain at a healthy pace for the rest of the pregnancy (eating as healthy as possible), and continue to exercise at a level that makes me feel good.

Sandra

Goodmorning!

Well my week was like last week - 3 workouts, but three really good ones:

Monday-Wednesday: rest

Thursday: Muscle Endurance (all but abs) 59 min apprx

Friday: rest

Saturday: Low Max 45 min.

Sunday: drum roll please - 3.7 MILES jogging! total 50 min making my time 13.5 min pre mile! - all while pushing my 3 year old!!! We went back to the lake we went to last week and I started to run, and felt so great I decided to do the whole loop around the lake and did it, with no hip pain and felt strong the whole way!!! I'm so thrilled! I feel ssoooo comfortable running there as it is such a smooth paved path I have no qualms that I would trip or anything! Anyway - the weather was hot but not to muggy, so I was able to do the whole thing! Now how often that will happen, I have no clue as St. Louis is already showing signs of an unforgivingly humid and HOT summer! Anyway that's my bonus for the week - I figure that makes up for not getting in 4 workouts this week! :+

My fitness goals were to define my abs more and my arms, and tone down my legs further (why oh why does everthing bad thing travel south on my body??? x( ). I was also hoping to eventually work up to 10 miles running - but wasn't sure if my joints would allow it. So that was me prepregnancy. My goals now are to watch my weight like a hawk - and I'm doing really well so far. I hope at the end to gain 30 total and less if that is what my body does. So far I'm really opptomistic that that MAY (hopefully!) be tangable. Just as long as I don't get snack happy the next 4+ months.
:)

Glad to see everyone is doing so well!

Question: I think I may have some extra cash to burn, so I'm thinking of buying another Cathe workout. Is IMAX2 ok to buy considering how far I am, or is it something I should learn not pregnant? I'm just fine with modifacations so that doesn't bother me, I just want to make sure it's doable - and others here see to be using it. Or any other suggestions?

Hi Ladies,

Just checking in to report that I've been in slugsville for a couple of weeks here. I have been pretty busy at work waiting tables and haven't had the energy to do formal workouts. I did get some walks in with the dog, at least. :)

I was in great shape before I got pregnant and would like to maintain my muscle tone. I keep hearing about the burst of energy that comes in the 2nd tri and I hope it comes soon so I feel like working out again! My goal for this week is to do some light weightlifting combined with walking.

Julie- Imax2 is a really fun workout with great music and as you are fine with modifications I say go for it!

Good afternoon ladies! It looks like another productive workout week for many of us. Last week was like the weeks before, not much to report. My only workout was push mowing my lawn for 1 hour on Tuesday. On a bright note though, even though the 80-90 degree hot humid weather of summer has arrived, I think maybe my allergies are starting to get better. So far yesterday and today has been tolerable and pretty mild from what I have been dealing with for the past 2 months. Let's hope this keeps up! Today I felt pretty good during lunch so I decided to walk on my treadmill (20 minutes). Unfortunately 20 minutes is the longest my walking can be due to time constraints and needing 5 minutes to cool down before driving back to work. I think I might try either a short upper body or lower body premix during my lunches and then try to add at least 30 minutes of cardio at night. I guess we shall see how it goes. Any suggestions on short UB or LB premixes?

KC - I hope you start feeling better soon.

Sunnydelite - I'm sorry to hear about your back pain. Do you think taking regular strength Tylenol would help? It is listed on my okay-to-take list from my Obgyn. Hopefully the pain will subside or the doctor can do something for you.

Dana - I'm glad to hear the swimming classes are going well. I've considered signing DS up for them, but I don't know where I would find the time unless they offered them on the weekends.

JulieL - Wow girl! 3.7 miles!! I can't even walk 2 miles without any pelvic pressure. Great job! You are my inspiration!

Let's see... Here was/is my goals:

Pre-pregnancy - I was hoping to lose 10 pounds before getting pregnant this time around, but that did not happen.

Pregnancy - My initial goals were to exercise almost every day and not gain more than 30 pounds. However, due to circumstances beyond my control I had to revise them. My new goals are to exercise when I can and not beat myself up if I'm not able to do anything and to not gain more than 40 pounds.

Post-pregnancy - This is where I will be really focusing all of my efforts. I would of course like to lose the baby weight and an additional 20 pounds (pre-wedding weight). I also want to increase my running mileage to running 5 miles comfortably. In the near future I would like to run some races and maybe a year or two down the line run a 1/2 marathon. Primarily I just want to be in the best shape of my life and be the healthiest person I can be. That will take some time, but I know I will get there eventually.

I hope everyone has a great day!

My week:
Monday: run 2.5 miles to the office, run/walk/crawl up 11 flights of stairs in office building.
Tuesday: short walk after dinner with family
Wednesday: LowMax 1-5
Thursday: nothing
Friday: Stepblast sections 1,2,3; a core section from Timesaver, shoulders, biceps, back from Timesaver
Saturday: nothing
Sunday: LowMax 6,7, about 1/2 of TImesaver legs/abs, chest and tricep stuff from Timesaver

Sandra- I flew through StepFit. I have no idea why I shelved this for more than a year. I want to do PowerMax this week.

Julie- I just got Imax2- i split it up, made a couple modifications, and it is fine.

Whomever had to throw away 60 bags of frozen milk, I almost cried for you.

my goals: maintain current cardio status; maintain/improve muscle status. I am one of those people who doesn't gain a lot of pregnancy weight, and leave the hospital about 7 pounds from my prepregnancy weight. Sounds great, right? Well, no, because that's about ALL i ever lost. 2 babies and 14 pounds extra, I am in no way near my original prepregnancy weight. I used to be an easy size 6; I am now a "full" 8. So, in conclusion, I hope to be fit enough to start making immediate progress after #3. With my second pregnancy, we moved when I was 38 weeks. So, I totally got deconditioned because I had no time to work out. I don't want that to happen again because I had a lot of ground to make up postpartum.

My plan: accept that on most days, I may only be able to exercise 20 or 30 minutes. don't eat like a pig while bf'ing. stop concentrating efforts on cardio; muscle mass is just as important. Accept that I will NEVER be a size 4 again.

Kristan, due 11-1-05 with #3

Oh, i just wanted to post that GETTING PREGNANT again was my goal. I complain a lot, and I really shouldn't. I wanted this pregnancy & antoher baby badly. We've been 'trying' since justin was born as I wanted two close together in age. So, the pregnancy itself was the goal....certainly ahead of the 1/2 marathon and any other goals I could've had I would certainly put on hold to mother my babies!!! :D :D

Kristi,

I just did Muscle Max's lower body premix this morning, and it's 23 minutes long. It includes the w/u and stretch, and packs a good punch in a very short time.

There are other great premixes that are about as long, and I'll check my notes sometime soon and list them for you.

Cheers,
Sandra

Thanks Sandra! I will give ME LB premix a try. Yesterday I tried L&G Ankle Weight Premix (~21 minutes). It was really great too, even though I had to omit the lying glute raises. They would be great to alternate with each other.

So far this week is looking better workout wise. I hope I can keep it up. It is great to finally start to feel like my old self again now that quite a bit of the sinus problems have minimized.

Hi all you moms to be....just reading through your thread makes me want to be pregnant...just a little, but it's definitely there. Just had to say that you are all doing so very well workout wise.

Melanie....13 weeks and 6 days, 183 days left.....I can't argue with that one (you know what I mean girl;-) ;-) ). Man I miss being prego with you!!

Okay I'll get out now...you guys keep it up and you'll be holding your little ones before long and have flat abs shortly thereafter. :D :D :D :D :D :D

Briee

Briee, what are you doing over HERE? R U jealous? Want #7?!?!? Actually, I tried to update my ticker b/c my due date was changed to 12/5/05--so I lost a couple of days... :D :D :D Nothing wrong with that.
Last pregnancy it seemed that everyone was having boys. Now it's girls. Does this mean I get a girl too?!?!?

Mel...are you going to find out if it's a girl/boy or are you patiently waiting?? Am I jealous....yes...but my problem is I want a baby born at the age of two. Not that I don't love babies, but the last two were close and I presently can't wait until Noah turns two and is a little more independent.....and while he's at it he COULD learn to sleep through the night, and sit in his car seat without screaming, and sit in the cart while I shop at Walmart. Uh oh was I complaining there - sorry. He is a blast and I love him very much and he's so darn cute, but not at 2 am, he's outgrown cute at 2 am. How's Justin doing...is he still cute at 2 am??? I have to keep reminding myself that this stage will pass and I will miss my cutie being so little.

Briee

We're not going to find out the sex this time. And yes, Justin is still cute at 2am. BTW, Justin has just weaned himself! He's just not interested anymore at 17 weeks. PERFECT. :D
