Moment of Truth/Fall Check in-9/21/05

Thanks so much for making me feel welcome you all! Just finished my workout for today. I kind of fly by the seat of my pants & do what my mood suits me (that and what Aiden will let me do..hehe). I went to the gym and did sprintervals for 30 min - alternating 1 min run 8.0 up to 9.0 and then walk a min on 3.5. Wow that was an amazing feeling - quite a challenge from steady state running. I also threw in 15 min hard rowing. I love how that really gives a full body burn!! I came home and PP - this is such an amazing workout squeezed into a short amount of time. It is really awesome when you want a punch quickly. Added CM2 onto that. I feel really, really good!

Got to go run to Babies R Us this afternoon. I want to check out halloween costumes. Oh and a few other errands to boot. I think Dunkin Donuts will be a detour for my coffee }( I'm so in love with that stuff it ain't funny!

Nancy - hey girl, I have those eating days. I know you just want to kick yourself after but darn it's tasty! Not to worry, jump back on and all is well. Remember no damage done in one evening!

Becky & Kali - you go, girls!!! It is so awesome to see your support for one another!

Wendy - so glad you're feeling better!

Charlotte - wanna come over and paint my house??? HA! you're a burst of energy.

Hey everybody... I am back from the doc's. He said I was doing well but I still have some room for improvement which I knew. He said the Humira hasn't come to full effectiveness yet, it takes about 8 weeks and I started on August 2. He said, wow, you have some nice definition in your arms, what are you doing? Well, he was probably sorry he asks, I told him about Cathe, the Butts and Guts rotation I'm on and that I am running in the 5K Komen run next month. He told me to keep it up because it was definitely helping me to stay active. He said he was amazed at what I am able to do with the severity of the degree of my RA. He believes, like I do, that my fitness regimen feeds off itself. I am able to do what I do BECAUSE of what I do. Does this make sense? He believes my anemia is better also if I'm able to do all I do and recover quickly which I am doing now. I will have repeat lab work next week so we'll see if my anemia is better.

I read halfway through the posts but I have got to get something to eat!!

Wendy - for breakfast this morning I had oatmeal with natural chocolate peanut butter in it, plain yogurt with splenda with Go Lean Crunch cereal mixed in. I had a protein bar while I was out. Now I'm off to a deli roast beef sand w/mustard on WW and that baked apple smoothie. It is absolutely sinful tasting isn't it Becky!!!

I will talk to ya'll in a bit. I got my SJP/SB DVD, it was here waiting for me when I got home!! YIPPEE!!!!! SJP in a while!!!!



ETA - my doc always knew I was into intense fitness training/running but he never asked me specifically about my weight training... I even told him about Cathe.com and he could check out the DVD's and see what I'm doing.... LOL... not that he'd actually do that.... but I couldn't help volunteering the information.

Wendy, Kali and Terri, very interesting what you say about being a SAHM. I know it's not a perfect life, but it would never have occurred to me that anyone would rather work. I guess it's true about the grass being greener. It's just I've been on this side of the fence for SOOOOOO long, I'd just like a little time on the other side. Just for a year or so. Maybe I can rent a kid for a year. LOL.

Nice to see ya here! Ah, I think I am done painting for now. My neck is feeling alittle tight from painting that ceiling, but it is all done now. I think DH used the wrong paint for the ceiling. You would not believe how much smoother and better it looks! I am relieved it is done.

I would love to come to Colorado and clean for ya. I would love working for ya. Now, who is going to clean my house though????? LOL!
I did some stability work too while I was painting. Perched myself right up on the arm of the couch to reach the ceiling. Reminded me of what they were all doing on Biggest Loser last night as they were all walking along the plank. I thought, heck, if I have to paint, I might as well throw in core work too. LOL! Now I am off to do some real workouts!

I'm back, just had some sandwich and smoothie, I am suppose to eat grapes too but I'm full, I have that in a bit.

Nancy - those whitening trays sound very uncomfortable. I did the Crest Whitestrips about a year and a half ago and those were uncomfortable to me, not swallowing etc., I can just imagine what those trays must be like. Don't worry about the pics.... from your picture I can tell you are very photogenic.

Wendy - mozzarella salad sounds perfectly reasonable for breakfast, lots of calcium:+ Just balance out that with what you have the rest of the day and you'll be fine.

Becky - do your smoothie have the consistency of soft serve ice cream with those frozen solid apples? I eat mine with a spoon. I can't believe it is healthy!! We are just too good aren't we?:+

Kali - are you around this afternoon?

Debbie - sounds like a very good workout. Say you like Push Pull? That is the only BB DVD I don't have now because you don't hear very much about PP/SS on the forum.

Well... I am off to vacuum, fold clothes, actually try to get something done on my day off. I was in the doctor's office for two hours this morning, bless his heart, he is always behind. He doesn't get in a hurry but when he is in the room with you, you get the feeling that he is there only for you, you are the reason he came in today, and he is there as long as you need him to be. That is why he stays so far behind but because that is the reason, I never mind waiting.

Sorry you aren't going to the wedding, it sounds like you were looking forward to it. Is going my yourself an option? I go do some things by myself because DH refuses to go.
 
seriously folks, I love PP! I have it off of FitTV for now, but I think that is the one in entirety on there b/c it's only a 45 min w/o anyhow. It packs a mean punch if you are limited in time or want a shorter weight w/o. My advice is to work up to going as heavy as you can for the duration. I want to try SS next. Anyone really like that? Charlotte, I thought I remember you liking that one. TTFN ladies!

Hey Kali and Jane...about the wedding-

Well, only DH knows the people getting married, I don't so I don't see why I would go by myself...they would be like, "Who are you"?
It is what it is, and I have just accepted that were not going so...whatever. All I can say is that I still expect to be taken out somewhere elaborate...that dress is getting dust on it. LOL! I guess I am in a frump because I don't really get out enough, but hey, I am going shopping on friday and now I am in the mood to spend...so watch out, here I come!!!!!

Hey Debbie. I have more Fittv versions of w/o's than DVD's still. Unfortunatley. I just add on to them if I need more of a workout. They're still very effective even tho they're shorter. I like SS. Except for the explosive lunges. I HATE explosive lunges. I'll do em' but I don't like em'.

Hello everyone else! DH and I are taking the boys to ride their bikes over at the school. Then I'm off to Homegroup meeting tonight at 7pm.

Hi everyone!
I didn't have time to read through all the posts but just wanted to check in and say that I worked out at the gym this morning after my shift, 25 mins on the stairmill, and 25 mins combined running and walking on a steep incline - that's all I had time for today.

School was fun, we practiced blood pressures - mine was very good today, 92/56. We also did glucose tests (mine was 86, but I had just eaten lunch)and we each had to try attaching a 12 lead ECG to a dummy - much easier on a dummy than a person. We found out today that we're going to go to a facility that does hydrostatic weighing (bodyfat analysis) and we each get to be dunked...yikes! I'm not looking forward to that but it will be interesting to see anyway.

Hey Shannon and everybody else... Shannon it sounds like you are having fun at school. 86 for a glucose after a meal is very good. I'd love to have my BF analysis done that way, I just don't know where to go to do it.

Charlotte - if you wouldn't know anyone, yes.. it would be pretty pointless to go. I'm with the others, make him pay... he needs to take you to a nice restaurant and like Nancy said, wear the dress.

Well Step, Jump, Pump is history. I really really liked that w/o. I had done the step part and upper body parts on the TimeSaver but never have done the hi/lo segments. I like hi/lo... it sort of reminded me of MIC....

I'm off to the barn now to feed the horse and then feed myself. Talk to y'all later.
 
Hey girls,

My goodness you ladies have been busy today! I just got home and got to go take dd to jazz class. So I thought I would be able to ride my bike tonight cause dh was going to pick one up! Well the one I picked out is gone and none of the other stores had it either. I am so sad! DH said that I can go looking for another one soon. He is afraid to bring one home without me looking at it. Yes I'm dissapointed but I have learned the meaning of patience in the last few months. Now I don't even feel like working out now!



Debbie- we are glad to have you. We are a bunch of supportive ladies. We have lots of fun!


Lori-You had a grueling workout yesterday. And ME is no piece of cake for me. That's a tough one.

Jane- I'm glad everything went okay at the doctors. See girl, those workouts are paying off. Compliments always gives us more motivation. Hey give up that smoothie recipe, I enjoyed the banana one you gave.

Nancy- Those stupid eating days really p*ss me off. I've had those days for quite a while. I'm still working on it, but not feeling sorry for myself. Nancy I always feel like a zombie when I stay up all night! Shame on you!


Charlotte- You do not have to worry about being 116#. You look great! Now go wear that dress!

Becky- The step is so much fun in SJ&P. And let me know how that smoothie is.

Terri- You're bad girl! Doing coremax all the way through. Lucky you!


Kali-SJ&P is a great workout, and hope to get back to it soon. Hey a little bit of that cake is no big deal. At least you worked it off.

Kali - I just re-read some of the threads because I've had to rush through them today after I got back and didn't feel I'd caught everything. Sure enough, I didn't... I'm sorry DH is giving you problems. Hang in there.. I've seen just how tough you are. Don't worry about the cake, with this rotation, it went up in the inferno of your metabolism... I know aaallll about emotional eating, I get a medal if it was an Olympic event. ;) Hang in there, ok...

Kim - that smoothie is one cup of cubed baked apples. Bake your apples the day before, just halve them, leaving peeling on, core them, sprinkle with splenda and cinnamon and bake until tender. Cut it up into cubes, enough for one cup and freeze the day before.

Add the apples, one cup skim milk, one scoop of vanilla protein powder, a dash more cinnamon and two ice cubes and blend. It tastes like apple pie ice cream!! YUM!!

I just ate and I am stuffed. I ate a little late today but I had to get some house cleaned up before I started SJP and that threw me later preparing supper.

Now I'm off to take a shower and relaxing 'til bedtime. I'll pop back in a little later.

Hope everybody's day went well today.

Yes the smoothie was like a frosty from Wendy's.....thick and creamy and I ate it with a spoon! What a treat!

I wanted to ask you.....I think it was you who posted on another thread something about emergenC? Was that you?
I am wondering what it is exactly (large doses of vitamin C?) and what do you use it for?
I feel a cold coming on......this morning I had pressure in my face and ears and now one ears is popped.
Wendy , Did you breathe on me????
Anyway, I am hoping to stop it before it's too bad. What does everyone do at the first sign of a cold???
