mini review on B&G Bonus Stability Ball Abs

15 min to core bliss...

I'm on week one of the sash series (as it's been called) and I did the bonus abs on B & G after doing a low impact premix from KickMax (nice mix btw).

I love love how the ball was used in this section. I don't have coremax so I don't know exactly how it compares to Cathe's over pure core productions. I found it very fresh, challenging but not too dreadful. The use of the ball was not too functional to make it weird - but it was there making the difference.

Some of the sections from memory:
-Supermans ( i never do enough of these - glad to see them)
-Rollouts with the ball
-Planks on the ball while making circles with upper body (WOW)
-Oblique crunches - half lean on the ball with band overhead (i was very unstable)
-lay supine? flat- hold ball over head, crunch, pass ball between feet, back down, back up and pass back to hands, etc. (killer)
-Ball between shins - torso twist-ball to the floor on one side and other
-move to upper core - knees and shins supported on the ball with a variety of crunch directions - up to laces, criss cross, etc.
-shine moment! V-sits (8) with ball balanced on shins

I think there's more too--anyhow I loved it!

Hope there'll be some other fans on this too. :)

Thanks!

Elle, I have to agree with you. This was a great ab workout. The ball exchange was killer for me too, also, the V-sits. I think you covered it all.

Right now I do the V-site w/out the ball. I think my core will be much stronger after the November rotation. I love this ab routine and I love the regular ab routine included in B&G. They are tough and different from Cathe's usual ab/core offerings.

I found the move where you get yourself into a plank on the ball and then twist your hips (I didn't explain that very well) VERY challenging. Also drawing the circles with the elbows on the ball. Tracey Staehle has you do this move in her workout. She tell's you to "write your name" with your elbows. I'm always so thankful at that point that my name has only four letters!!

I truly love this entire series. Both ab segments from B&G are stellar!! (And I like the ab segments from LIC and BMax2 as well).

I agree that move is ultra challenging. I couldn't do it at all! I have no idea how they do it, honestly. I think you must have really good ab muscles and extraordinary balance to pull it off. I kept falling off the ball, so I thought it best to give it up. ;) Drawing circles with your elbows on the ball was tough, too, but more do-able IMO. I think I can get that down in time. But the first one- not sure that will ever happen.
