I just had to share this with someone and I felt my fellow Cathe fans would appreciate it. Today I wanted to do an extra intense workout so I decided to do Cardio Only from Boot Camp followed by Blast Only from Imax 2 (on my usual 10” step height) then finish up with a repeat of BC Cardio Only for a good 1-hour workout. Well, I have to say that by the time I got to the second interval on Imax 2 Blast I said to myself “Robin, there is no way you are going to be able to get through BC Cardio a second time!” This especially since I had done MIS yesterday with 66 pounds on the barbell and 46 pounds on the dumbbells for leg work and my legs were cooked!!
Then I went into interval three (the one legged hops) and two thoughts came into my mind. One was of my dear, beautiful sister-in-law (who has been a “big sister” to me for over 20 years). Exactly one week ago today her left leg was amputated from the hip joint because a dangerous cancer was discovered in her hip that would not respond to chemo. The cancer has spread despite the operation (she is a mother of 2 boys) but as of yesterday she was up and walking on crutches and determined to fight for her life.
My other thought was of a movie DH brought home last night called “Men of Honor” which, ironically (we had no idea what it was about when we put it on), was a true story about a Navy Salvage Diver played by Cuba Gooding Jr. who had lost his leg in an accident (he was in his 40’s at the time) and went on to fight to get himself reinstated as a Diver (he was taken out of service because it was thought he would not be physically capable of doing this difficult form of diving again) and then went on to become the first African American Master Diver in the Navy…a very inspiring film…
Needless to say, I was inspired to press on and finish the workout as I had planned and I did. It wasn’t easy – that second set of terminator squat thrusts were tough – but I felt good after I finished. I have been feeling rather depressed lately about getting older (I’m 48 and have just started into menopause this year), but today I am grateful to have two strong legs and my health…and countless other blessings…I’m sure we all have so much to be grateful for…

P.S. I ordered all of the new DVD’s today – yahoo!! Can’t wait!! I’m sure we’re in for a real treat!!
