Hi Kathleen,
First of all, I've received so much help and knowledge and support from the people on these forums--it's just unbelievable! I hope some of the other fine women (and men) will add their 2 cents. Believe me when I tell you, I'm just winging it here!
Strength training and flexibility have always been my strong suit in the past, but I'm afraid I've slipped on all counts recently. Up until about a year ago I had been working with a personal trainer in a gym and didn't have much in the way of exercise gear at home. I've had to start from scratch and I've been slowly adding to my equipment.
So, in answer to your question, right now my plan is to do 2 full body strength workouts per week with 5 to 6 days of cardio. For cardio, I'm mixing some Cathe with Leslie Sansone, Michelle Dozois, and Charlene Prickett. I'm not following a rotation yet but I might at some point. I don't have many of Cathe's DVD's yet either--just her beg/int and the one with Power Hour.
Today I did the High Step Circuit DVD but I bumped up the weights. I haven't done PH in eons and that would probably be tough for me right now so I'm going to stick with the beg/int stuff for the time being.
I intend to follow this plan for 5 or 6 weeks then re-evaluate. I'll probably keep the cardio about the same but bump up the weights to 3 days a week with one day of upper body, a day of lower body, and a total body day. That's basically what I'd been doing with my PT.
ETA that I have a hard time with step, too. One of the reasons I chose HSC was because the step portion is in 1 or 2 minute intervals and I can handle most anything if it's just for a minute--LOL! Most of the cardio I do is low impact floor work.
HTH and I hope some other folks will chime in here with what they're doing.
Michele
