Metabolife and a few other Q.

HI Ladies,

A few questions for you all.

1. I have 6 bottles of ephedra free matabolife. Anyone use this stuff. I never take pills to loose weight but I have a lot of it and if it safe I may as well try it. The ingredients are copper, chromium, hydroxycitric acid, green tea extract, Guarana extract, sodium and potassium.

2. I have read several times that weight training and aerobics burn about the same calories. Do you believe that. Would power hour burn as many calories as rythmic step?

To answer your questions (to the best of my knowledge)

1. You'd probably be best to throw your 6 bottles away. There is no evidence that these supplements will aid weight loss at all. The old Metabolife (with ephedra) did work, but it also cause a few deaths, so they had to "reformulate" and basically all it is is an expensive multivitamin with some herbs thrown in. Herbs can have dangerous side effects, or interactions with medications you may already be taking, so talk to your doctor before taking any herbal supplement.

2. I would not agree with this. Weight training usually does not get your heart rate nearly as high as cardio. So you will usually burn fewer calories weight training versus cardio for the same amount of time. However, building muscle through weight training will cause you to burn more calories throughout the day. How many more calories is a source of debate among experts, but suffice it to say, your metabolism will see an increase when you build muscle mass.

Hopefully others will chime in here with additional insight. :)
 
I agree w/ the previous poster. The metabolife w/ the ephedra did wonders for me, but it's been taken off the market. I think the best the ephedra free does is give me a boost of energy. So on days I wake up and can't seem to get a start I will take 2 of them, but that is all.. not really for weight loss, but for energy to do my workout. HTHs

Not sure about the weight training v cardio.
