Meniere's Disease Causing vertigo/balance problems

Hi. To those ladies who responded (and anyone else) to my post about fitness solutions when you have no balance to work with, I found out that I have Meniere's Disease. I had never heard of it. It is a disease of the inner ear. It causes intermintent hearing loss/gain, a fullness feeling in the ear, ringing in the ear, severe vertigo and balance problems. There is no cure or treatment other than meds for motion sickness and allergies as well as steroids. I have been put on a low-sodium diet to try and rid my body of fluid in hopes that the fluid in the ear will decrease as well. No one really knows the origin of the disease. Anyway, for anyone who may have these symptoms, please be aware.

If anyone else out there is suffering from this disease please let me know.

Thanks!

Hi fitmom24,

I've heard of this disease but don't know anyone who has it. I'm very sorry that you are sufferring from this. Hope your symptoms improve soon!

Hello! I saw your post last week, but didn't respond at the time. My mom has this disease as well. I bet she would love to communicate with someone in her condition. She was diagnosed about 2 years ago or less. She has found that the low sodium diet is really the key in keeping the dizziness, ringing, and vertigo under wraps. She gets discouraged with the diet limitations, but has kept it together.

I wish that I could be more helpful, but I thought you might like to know that you are not alone.

Take care,
Teresa

Michelle,

Can you email me or send me a PM? I can't seem to do either to you. This is the reason you haven't heard from me yet.

Thanks,
Teresa
