~~Melting on Friday!~~

Cathlete
Good Morning!

Well it's finally Friday. I have to go to Toronto for a sales meeting this morning. I will wave to Shelley when I go by ! I hope I can get out of there early... nothing like being on the QEW at 4:00 pm on a Friday! ..and I will say "no thank you" to all the Tim Hortons donuts I am sure they will have there! :9

Today I did a 30 minute I-Train.. 232 calories burned.

Shelley:
Hope that boss of yours got into a better mood! Make sure you wave back when I go by this morning! ( Actually going to Mississauga, but not sure if anyone would know where that is!)

Cari:
No more cookies for you missy!}(

Shannon:
Good for you trying something new to get that cardio in. I too do not know how to swim and I am not sure I would even want to try this, You are brave:D

Lainie:
Glad you are doing better!:7

Michele:
Be carful with those chest flies. What weight are you using? I am in my 5th week of 4DS and should change too but can't decide if I want to stick to heavy weights or go with more cardio x( ( not my favorite)and circuit workouts.. I really like heavy weight training. Maybe back to using S&H and doing one body part per day with 30 min of cario . Decisions.. decisions..

Tneah:
A fireplace and candles sounds wonderful. I am right with you on those cardio step parts of 4DS}(

Emily:
Good for you for doing RS when you wanted to stay in bed!

TK:
what type of cardio are the 3 you mentioned and how long are they? over 400 calories burned is amazing! Hope you had a good lunch!

Have a great day and happy weekend!

Deb;-)

Good morning Deb and all you other incredible shrinking women. I was off yesterday and spent most of it in the kitchen making Christmas cookies. I always go overboard, but after 30 years, it's expected by the family. I have about half a dozen different types of cookies in the freezer and have to make about half a dozen more. I tried to get on the computer, but the forum was soooo slooooow, I gave up. I did manage to do Gym Style T&C yesterday. I think today will just be an ab day. My knee seemed like it was getting better, but it was really sore when I got out of bed this morning.

Deb, have fun in Toronto. Yes, I started taking a supplement for joints about a month ago, when the knee twinge from August didn't seem to be going away. I'm not sure if it is doing anything, but I understand it takes a while. I'll give it at least another month.

Shannon, that is great news about your cardio. There is a Y not to far from work that I could look into if I need alternate cardio, but I hope it doesn't come to that. I used to swim, years ago when we lived in town about a block from the Y.

Lanie, I'm glad to hear you are finally feeling better. Hopefully you'll be A OK by Christmas. There is nothing worse then being sick over Christmas. The two times I had pneumonia were over Christmas - yuck!

Michele, you silly. Where else would I find Harry Potter recipes? The internet. Everyone liked the onion soup and, as I mentioned, the butter beer was superb. Next we have to decorate our door for the annual lab contest. We are going to make a big, naked gingerbread cookie paperdoll and all kinds of clothes for people to put on him. We will have to include a pirate costume!

tneah, I'll trade this winter weather for yours anyday. Today is another cold one with less than an inch of snow predicted. Just enough to make the roads slimey. I'd love it if I didn't have to drive.

Emily, you are becoming the cardio queen! Yay! You are right about one day of atrocious eating not being a problem. Luckily, I was off yesterday and just to busy to eat. Even though I made tons of cookies, I only tasted one. I had to - it was a new recipe!

TK, have fun at your lunch. I think I'd have to forgo the salad and have the bread, alcohol and dessert. LOL.

Hi to all you other melters. I'm out of time and have to get to work. Have a marvelous, low calorie day all.

Hi

I was too busy yesterday errandizing and card writing to post.

Deb- I've been to Misasaga i just can't spell it.

Robin- I have given up on the cookie thing. My mother was a maniac with making Italian cookies. I try every few years. But I just find it not worth my effort. I do have fond memories of coming home from school finding our large kitchen table covered with cookies and sneaking some hot off the cookie sheets! ... It sounds like the rest is doing your knee well.

This year at our big Christmas Eve Party I am having heavy appetizers and cookies. I have asked my family to bring the cookie trays for the dessert table.

Back to the present.... today is a run and wrapping and tidying up at home.... if all goes well.

Good morning, Melters, and happy Friday!

Today will be my first day of water aerobics. I'm nervous! I saw a picture online of how the flotation belt works, and ..... oh boy. My PT told me just my head would be above water, but seeing it makes it seem a lot worse. Well, it's either jump in or don't do cardio!!!

Last night I did floor work from L&G, and then the KM leg drills. I've decided that I'm going to be extra careful in everything I do for the next month, so guess what? on those leg drills, instead of standing on my left leg, I kneeled on a chair and did it that way. It felt okay and took all pressure off my stupid calf.

I hope all of you have a wonderfully clean and melty weekend. :7

Deb - as you can see above, I'm not feeling very brave! Deep water is not exacly my favorite place to be. I hope you get out of Toronto on time!

Robin - you sound like my mom with all those cookies. She used to do that, but hasn't in a few years. How much family do you have, who will eat them all??? By the way, let me know if you want me to send you any water drills. A-Jock PMed me, and she'll probably be sending me more. I'm sure your knee will recover, but it never hurts to be prepared....

Judy - it sounds like you're neck deep in holiday preparations. I hope they're fun and not just a big headache!

Happy Friday, lovely Melters! :)

I am not melting today. We had the office holiday dinner party last night. My dinner was pretty healthy (salad, broiled tilapia, baked potato), but then we got dessert. It was a Skillet Cookie - a big, hot, gooey chocolate chip cookie topped with hot fudge and ice cream. :9 Deeeeeeelicious! That was my big cheat for the week. Then, we got home pretty late from that and I was really tired, so I didn't get up to work out this morning. But, I am planning an extra-long workout to make up for it tomorrow. Perhaps BM2?

Deb, have fun in Toronto! Well, as much fun as you can have when you're traveling for business. ;)

Robin, you are a cookie fiend! And you only tasted one of them??? I bow down before you and your incredible self-restraint. I would've had to sample every single kind of cookie. Twice. ;)

Judy, hope you have a good day running, wrapping and tidying!

Shannon, good luck with your water aerobics! I'm sure you'll do great!

Michele, I like your concept of working out in stages, and having dinner in the middle. ;) Be careful with that elbow!!!

Tneah, I prefer "Friends" marathons too! That's my favorite show ever! :D

Truton, I hope your tummy feels better soon! How was your Year End Appreciation Dinner? :)

Good morning!

Guess what? I melted a little more!!! And by a little more I mean 0.5... :) But that brings me down to a whopping total of 2 pounds since we started so I'll take it! I must be losing inches at a more accelerated rate than the pounds because the clothes are FINALLY starting to fit better!

Emily, you've got to stop giving such detailed descriptions of yummy treats! I'm literally salivating over here!

Hello to everyone and have a melty day and weekend!

Good Morning All you lovely lasses!:) Aren't we happy its Friday?

I took some pictures of me in my workout clothes/baseball hat/no makeup or anything, doing some "poses" so I can really see what I "look" like! Ya know what I mean? Sometimes we do not really see ourselves correctly, anyhow I get them back on Monday.Eeek.

Today is the last 4DS workout for the week--Bootcamp/arms. I did Chest/Back and the LIS portion yesterday. I am really lovin' these workouts, they make your body feel really "tight" and "in shape":)

My eating hasn't been horrid, but it hasn't been totally clean either, maybe the pics will help motivate me.

I did all my holiday cards and shipped cakes to our neighbors and that's it! My holiday stuff is done. We do not give presents on Christmas, I prefer Valentines Day (my fave gift giving holiday) and birthdays. Everyone understands this, its no big deal, so it takes the pressure off everyone and us too!:)

Robin-I love baking, but am going to skip it this year, I always wind up with too much (always) and its not worth the temptation for me. I love cookies.:)

Shannon, have fun in the pool, just be sure to slather your hair with conditioner so your color (if you color your hair) doesn't turn a nasty shade-and have fun!

B, congrads on the weight loss! I am very proud of you.

Deb, hope your day in Toronto was a good one, I have been to British Columbia, but never ventured into other "territories!"

Judy, have fun wrapping presents-that is my least favorite thing to do in the world (well besides biceps)

Michele, take care of your elbow and are you the one that had that most excellent sounding dessert? Oh boy, oh boy....you guys are making me crave ice cream and cookies!

TK, hope your lunch was a success, and I am with Robin, the booze, dessert and bread sounded alot better than just a salad!

And to anyone I might have missed, I am so sorry, but I am thinking of ya!

Tneah,

Not sure I ever got around to letting you know that I LOVE your tree! (and the style of your house from what I could see in the picture!)

My style is contemporary, but unfortunately the house my fiancee and I just bought is very traditional (we bought it for investment purposes since we got a heck of a deal). But it's so hard for me to deocorate it!! x(

Anyway, just wanted to let you know!

Pardon my complete and utter self absorption, but I need...

HELP!!!!!

I can't decide what to do after I finish the 4DS rotation. My last workout will be Sunday. While I didn't lose much weight, I am pleased with my results overall -- I've slimmed down and I can breathe again in my jeans :p, and I've made some good strength gains.

I'd like to focus a little more on weight loss. Should I stick with the 4DS for another couple of weeks or start an endurance rotation? I looked over the December rotation Cathe posted but workouts like Body Max, Drill Max, and Boot Camp will kill me. Let's face it, I'm a workout weenie ;) . I enjoy weights but I HATE cardio with a passion and I'm not likely to branch out beyond my elliptical and walking DVD's :p .

I'm wide open to suggestions and any advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated. I'm still pretty new to the whole idea of exercise compliance :p

I'll BBL for personals :)

Hey Cuz - first, let me say it sounds like you got excellent results from 4DS - you've lost fat and gained muscle!!! YAY!!!

If I were you, I'd change up your rotation so you won't get bored and burned out. You've been doing 30-min cardio, right? Could you extend them to an hour? Coach Sean is fine, I promise. ;)

Maybe you could do two 1-hr cardio/week, and 2 30-min. cardio. Let's see... I'm not sure how much this will facilitate weight loss, but what do you think? Of course, arrange them in any order you want. You know that! Is that too much cardio for you?

M - 1 hr cardio
T - 30 min cardio plus 30 min upper body (heavy weights)
W - 1 hr cardio
T - 30 min cardio plus 30 min lower body (heavy weights)
F - 1 hr upper body
S - 1 hr lower body
S - off

Or you could just use my tried and true routine... I follow this, and then use a huge variety of DVDs so I do something different every week. I use both step (high and low impact) and CC, sometimes I do a heavy weight day, sometimes lighter. It just really keeps things moving. I can't say it actually makes me lose weight though.
M - 1 hr cardio
T - 1 hr upper body
W - 1 hr cardio
T - 1 hr lower body
F - 1 hr cardio
S - 1 hr full body
S - off

Hey Cuz, thanks for your well thought out suggestions :) . Which DVD's would you use, say, for an hour of upper body and an hour of lower body? Are you thinking of something like Slow and Heavy or MM?

An hour of cardio!? Oh man!:p

For the hour weight workouts, I use PUB for upper, or you can use the all upper premix on the 4DS, or you can use MM and do the upper mix twice... oh, the possibilities are endless. Another good one is to do the timesavers on GS BSB and CT, back to back. That's about an hour.

And for lower, well, I have L&G, PLB, and GS-L, which are all an hour long. GSL is actually a bit longer. Oh, and surely you have B&G, don't you?

Which weight workouts do you have?

Come on, you can do an hour of cardio!!!! With Coach Sean breathing in your ear, it'll be a breeze. Or if you want to split it up, do a half hour in the morning and then come back and finish it in the evening. Or Do a half hour elliptical and then go for a half hour walk to break it up.

Hi everyone. I am just popping in to confess that I gained 0.4 lb this week. :( That's in spite of going to bed hungry several nights. x( x( x(

I went to yoga this morning while Ewan was in nursery school, so I got a good hour and a half workout of a sort, which is good since I ended up napping a bit while he napped this afternoon instead of working out. I only napped an hour. I don't know why I'm so wiped out--I don't feel sick as much any more but I don't have my energy back yet. It probably didn't help that I didn't get my coffee this morning. Eek! That's also probably why I have a nagging headache right now. Ugh.

Hopefully now that I'm able to work out more and do cardio again I'll start to lose weight again. Yesterday I did the upper body circuit premix from LIC and my ankle felt fine (but my knees were crackling a lot). We did lots of lunging things at yoga today and my ankle was o.k. for that as well, so I guess it's doing great.

Hope to BBL for personals but I have a 2-year old who is climbing on me.

Back for a few personals.

Deb, brrrr...I'm so cold in southern NY today that just hearing about you going into Canada makes me colder. Hope you had a good trip.

Robin, I had issues with the forums being slow yesterday, too. I've been taking Osteo Bi-Flex for my ankle, and maybe it helped since it seems so much better now.

Judy, you used the word "cookies" far too many times in your post. Making me hungry and I don't need cookies!

Shannon, how did the water aerobics go? Just keep your head up and you'll be fine.

Emily, no no no! Now you're talking about cookies. Ack, I can't escape from cookie dreams!

B, congrats on the loss! I wish I could say I was losing anything!

Tneah, I hope you'll share those pics with us. I picture you as being sort of a sexy chic woman, for some reason.

Michele, congrats on the great loss! I can't decide what to start next either, now that my ankle is better. I am thinking about starting the Nov. 4DS rotation now that so many others have already finished it. Or I might do a circuit rotation that I made up right before my injury. I should probably do something that will help me lose some pounds. On my blog I have a document you can download with various rotation ideas. The last few ideas are more generic rotations without suggested specific workouts.

Isaac's holding a curtain rod out in front of the doorway that he lifts for Ewan to go through. Then Ewan says "Thanks, Isaac" and "Hi Mommy" or "Bye Mommy" depending on if he's coming or going. They're pretty cute today.

OK, I still have a headache so I'm going to rest for a bit.

Hi guys, I am back because I don't feel like starting an article (when I should be writing my butt off today since everyone is gone!)

Guess what I found and bought today? Bubble gum lowfat ice cream!!:9 It was my fave as a kid, and still is! I was so excited-it is yummy too. Ice cream isn't a hard food for me, I simply take a tablespoon to the container and allow myself two spoonfuls-period.Its so worth it.:7 Okay, who started the ice cream deal with the Blizzards?

Lainie, you are my new BFF!:7 :7 You are so sweet. I would like to think I am a sexy chic woman;-) Oh, and if those pics aren't too horrifying, I will share them. I hate photos of myself, they honestly never wind up looking like me-its so weird, my mother in law complains that when I send her pics, she doesn't recognize me at all! I look much prettier in person...x( gotta love the honesty right? Your boys little game sounds so cute, I so wish sometimes I had my own little "rugrats"-I would have wanted boys if I had the choice. Especially this time of year, kids get so excited.:)

Oh, one more funny thing. So I was doing Bootcamp this morning and wearing the same workout outfit as Cathe and the crew. My DH walks in a goes, "Oh buddy", "Are you guys all wearing the same thing?:7 He called it my "Cathe outfit!" It was hilarious, he thinks I am such a
dork. :) And I am a dork.
