"Melting" on a Wonderful Weekend!

Cathlete
Good Morning,

Just getting us started..I have to go to the tailor and pick up my car that has been in storage for 5 months. I don;t want to pay for another month, even though I will not be driving it in this snow!x( So DH or I will be leaving one of our cars outside, and the other in the garage..

tneah: you deleted your e-mails? I had sent one to you :-( I can resend it.

RE:

Good morning everyone. I'm very disappointed with today's WI. I've gained weight every week since starting BFL--except the first week when I lost 3 lbs (probably water weight). I'm still thinking about going back to WW. Maybe I could adapt BFL eating within WW points or something. At least I know WW has worked for me before.

Hi Deb, sounds like you will have a productive Saturday. My DH wants to go to the mall, so I guess that's what we're doing. It's not as much fun going with him as by myself, though. :p

RE:

Morning melty friends. I wrote a nice long post yesterday at work, but lost it somehow. Then I got busy and never got a chance to rewrite it! I was busy the rest of the evening at home and didn't get on the computer at all. So sorry!

Shelley, I'm glad your birthday turned out to be a good day. Sometimes I think we expect too much on our "special" day. I guess we need to remember that the day may not be so special for the rest of the world. I'm so glad your SO ignored your advice to not gift you. Has he heard anything about his interview?

tneah, good news about ditching Capt Vodka. I suggest your first trip is down the coast of the Baja pennisula and up into the Sea of Cortez. It is supposed to be beautiful and teeming with wildlife. We are researching a kayaking vacation there next spring. I especially want to go to Magdelena Bay (spelling?) to see the gray whales. I hope your DH was in a better mood. My DH isn't a very moody person, so the few times he is angry or say seem twice as bad.

Leanne, have a great time with Amy today! I started to preview In the Ring last night and really liked it. It looks like lots of fun. I didn't get to finish it - a friend dropped by. I may give it a try tomorrow. Lucky you with the new car! I had a VW jetta that I loved. When it finally died, we replaced it with a used one. It's pretty beat up now and I think it's close to 200,000 miles, but DH keeps hanging on to it. The only trouble with VW's is they are so expensive to have repaired.

TK, I got mixed reviews on the homemade pasta. Everyone liked the pasta, but the sauce was not a hit with DH. DD loved it though. I'll have to make it again when DH isn't home.

Lainie, no more fat pants talk. Maybe you can call them your fluffy pants. Maybe BBL just isn't for you. I envy you big on top, little on bottom gals. I'm slim on top and very bottom heavy.

Deb, we used to pay to store one of DH's sports cars over the winter. Now he just squeezes them into the garage really close together. There is JUST enough room for my car then.

I better get going. I have a ton of housework to catch up on. We have to get to the post office this morning to send a package to Afghanistan. I'm going to do GC BCB sometime today. See you all later, I hope.

RE:

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Well, I got up early because I'm nervous -- and also excited! -- about my little road trip up to Amy Bento's class in Los Angeles today. We don't have to be at the hotel until 4:00, but I think that I'm going to leave my house around noon; in theory, it's about a two-hour drive to get up to LA, but it always takes much longer than that to actually get there because the traffic is so terrible! I figure that if I get up there early, I can snoop around at some shops on Sunset Boulevard (where the hotel is located) for a bit. It'll be fun to take the new Jetta on a road trip!

So you know how I went shopping yesterday with my skinny friend? It turns out that she's put on a little weight, so I'm actually a size smaller than her! I needed new jeans since none of my clothes fit me, and when we tried some on, I wear a smaller size. I'm totally shocked. Of course, I still feel like I need to lose some weight; my thighs just seem HUGE to me. Ah, well. I'm working on being happy with where I'm at, but it seems like I'll always have body issues.

Deb -- Good luck getting your car out of storage! Do you and DH have any other plans for the weekend?

Shelley -- I'm so glad that your b-day turned out to be such a nice day! :) And how fantastic that your boss let you leave early. How sweet, too, that your SO got you a cute new outfit! Men really have no clue about sizes, do they?!

Jennifer -- I saw your morning post on the Friday listing, and hope that you have fun at the Home Show this weekend!

Robin -- Isn't that just awful when your posts get lost in cyberspace? How frustrating! I'll be sure to keep you posted on how Amy's class goes! That homemade pasta sure sounds delicious!

TK -- Yes, gas prices are so out of control! My DH got a Prius almost two years ago, and we're so glad that he did. He has much more of a commute than I do, so it's perfect for him. How has work been going? Will you be able to take that comp day soon?

Lainie -- I'm sorry that the new pants aren't working! I think I have bullet boobs and a bubble butt myself. I've also been really frustrated with my figure b/c nothing ever fits in the butt/thighs or the chest. I always have to go up in sizes to get things to work. Ug! Men have it so much easier with sizing -- but, then again, they don't get to wear the cute clothes that we do!;-) Be sure to get the new sizes you need, and don't stress about the weight gain. Just get yourself off that darn BFL system since it doesn't seem to be agreeing with you!

Tneah -- How is DH doing today? Is he back to normal? Do you think that he's just stressed about work issues? I can definitely send you some of my bubble butt, but I'm not sure if you'd like the sausage thighs that come as part of the package deal!;-) How great that you decided to let Captain Vodka go! He sounded scary and unsafe -- and I can't believe that he ran into sand dune!

Shannon -- Not sure if you'll be checking in this weekend, but wanted to say "hi" if you do!

RE:

Good Morning Everyone!:) Wow, what a nice energy emanating through cyberspace around here...I was smiling as soon as I started reading your posts!:)

Deb, yeah, I did not get it, I am so sorry, I sometimes get so much junk emails, I am not careful and erase everything! Please do resend your email. My hubby has a "special car" that we keep in a separate garage, I do not dare even go in there. Just kidding, but you know how boys are about their "toys".:)

Robin, is your son in Afganistan? Or another relative? Thats cool you are sending a much needed package. I did that over the holidays, there is a program called something "Secret Angels', you can buy things online to send to the troops. Have fun with CleanMax today! I have a ton of laundry to do. Oh, and my DH is usually a very happy guy too, one of the reasons I married him, he balances out my occasional moodiness and always makes me laugh. So when he is angry and grumpy it is just unbearable, he is getting better, today he should be back to his normal chirpy self. Thanks for the tips on boat travel, that sounds like a beautiful place to go. I go berserk when I see sea lions, I would probably come completely undone if I spotted a whale! My dream is to go to one of those places and swim with the dolphins.:)

Leanne, see? You are a tiny, little compact thing, that needs to stop worrying about the size of your thighs! My thighs are stubbornly large too. Plus, I have no hips, and have to work at keeping my butt at least a little rounded. So you are lucky! Glad to hear your 00 friend gained some weight, that just isn't normal that size 00. Have so much fun with Amy today! Give us a detailed report when you get back for sure.:)

Lainie, do not sweat the BFL. I have always wondered about that 20 minute cardio thing...maybe because I am doing so much more. I sent you the program, let me know if you were able to open it?

Shannon, Shelley, TK, hey ladies, I will be back to chat later on today.

I have cardio only today, thank goodness. My next phone appt. with Mr. Trainer man is Monday, so I am gonna work extra hard today so my pics look good tomorrow morning. :)

RE:

tneah, my DD's boyfriend is in Afghanistan. He's in the Natl guard. We hope to have him home safe and sound before next Christmas.

Leanne, way to go on being smaller than your skinny friend! Drive carefully.

Two bathrooms and one load of laundry down...

RE:

Hey everyone. I thought we were going to the mall today but I can't get DH off his butt yet. Granted, I haven't tried very hard yet since I'm still sitting on mine. I did dress the kids and myself, though.

I had a weird thought today--I gained weight mainly during Lent when I gave up shopping. Maybe not shopping made me gain weight.... You know, time spent shopping I was eating instead, and I was moving less since I wasn't cruising the mall and the village shops. Also, I wasn't shopping for clothes, so I didn't realize how I was burgeoning in size. It should also help with my weight loss as the weather warms up because I love walking around here and checking out the stores when the weather's nice. OK, silly excuses, I know.

Robin, I'm not really little on bottom. I think the sizes are just kind of odd. I'm actually usually very close to the same top and bottom inches-wise (a rather puffy hourglass shape, really) but my bottom size is still usually smaller than the top size. I'm definitely apple and not pear, though.

Leanne, I sometimes wonder if clothing designers have a clue to the normal shape of women. Even when I was thinner I had trouble fitting in clothes because of my curves. Or maybe I was just trying the wrong brands. I remember discovering Calvin Klein jeans in college and being so pleased that they actually fit write in both my butt and waist. I actually haven't worn Calvins in a long time--wonder if I should try some again. Of course, when I see those ridiculously thin women on the catwalk or coat-rack shaped celebrities, I understand that the designers aren't designing for my shape.

Tneah, got the emails-thanks! Yeah, I feel silly that so many people have great results with BFL but so far I've kind of blown it. I do think some programs are better for some than others.

OK, bbl.

p.s. my kids seem to be better, but neither one has had a poop yet today--waiting for that to judge their health. TMI?

RE:

Lainie, did you receive the diet plan, exchange lists, grocery (which I never used)supplements? All of it? Cause it appeared as if I sent you the exchange and grocery lists only and I was concerned?

BTW, in the 90's Calvin made some killer jeans that looked great on the arse. I have tried his again and to my dismay, discovered they are not really cut the same. You know what still looks pretty good on gals? The Levi's 501's made for women! I swear its funny, they are straight legged, and fit really well, in fact I need to order another pair, the only ones I own are on the boat.

RE:

Hi Everyone,

Well my first errands are done, now waiting to go to the storage place. We have an apt at noon. Doing little things around here to fill the time, like cleaning the bird cage, emptying the dishwasher etc. I don't want to get into something too involved then have to drop it to go get the car.

Lainie:
I am perplexed that BFL isn't working for you. Are you getting enough calories? Go shopping to lose the weight! LOL..Have fun at the mall ( if your DH gets up!). Yes my favorite is the LIpfinity too! I get it on Ebay really cheap and you don;t have to go all around to stores to find the one you want. You can also get packs of just the gloss, since that usually goes first for me. I just put in my favorite number and buy it there..

Robin:
Good job on those bathrooms! They are my least favorite cleaning job. I am sure your DD's boyfriend looks forward to your packages.

Leanne: Good job on the "melting"! See how things change? Now you are the "skinny friend"! Can't wait to hear how your workout with Amy went. She is not one that I like but it I still think that working out live with any of the instructors that we have on DVD would be awesome! No other plans here. If the weather gets a little warmer, DH will go fishing tomorrow and I will have some time to myself! Thanks for all the makeup suggestions..I will be off to Ebay again!

Tneah:
Thank you for the detailed instructions on using the products. E-mail on the way..it was really no big thing..;-) I think the BFL does work for some, even the short HIIT cardio that they recommend. It worked for me about 7 years ago, then I got injured and the rest is history! I was really strict with the food for about 6 months so that was probably the part that did it. Thanks for all the tips on the makeup! Have you ever gone on Makeup Alley? I can sit there for hours.

Shelly:
Glad you day was nice yesterday. What a nice boss you have! Are you relaxing today or running errands?

Jennifer:
Sorry to hear about the loss of your family friend.:-( Have "fun" at the home show.. I know you are actually working so maybe "fun" isn't the right word! LOL

TK:
Yes I have that Christie Taylor DVD, but so far have only done the abs. I plan on doing the whole thing tomorrow so I will let you know what I think of it. A person on another thread was telling us how much she loves it, so I thought I would give it a try.

Have a great day!

Deb

RE:

Oh, so speaking of meeting live instructors, I forgot to tell you all that the other night, I was looking at Cathe's updated blog, and happened to mention something about the road trip from last year. DH asked if there was going to be one this year, and I said I didn't know. Then he said, "I'm *so* sending you on it if there's one this year! You have to go meet your Melters friends and Cathe!" Isn't that sweet? Of course, I don't know how realistic it would be since the plane ticket would be a lot, but it would be so much fun to meet everyone in person!

Robin -- I'm joining you in Clean Max this morning! I'm done with the kitchen and bathrooms, but still need to dust and then vacuum once DH wakes up. That kayaking vacation sounds wonderful! That must be so hard for DD to have her BF so far away! San Diego is a big military town, and our campus gets a lot of students who are enlisted or just out of the Marines. We even have a classroom at Camp Pendleton, the large Marine base. I've had a lot of military students, and two weeks ago one of my students had her DH leave for Iraq for his second deployment. It'll be so nice when DD's BF is back home!

Tneah -- Thanks so much for sending me that info! You are such a sweetie!! I'll have to look into the Levis 501 jeans. I bought a pair of Lucky jeans yesterday, but they weren't on sale and were so expensive. I really like them, but need to try them on again b/c I feel like my thighs look like sausage casings in them. (Is it obvious that I hate my thighs?!) Now how much longer do you have left on your program? You are almost done, chica, and are doing so awesome! Don't overdo it on the cardio today, though, since I'm sure that you look fantastic and Mr. Trainer will be impressed again this week!

Lainie -- I don't think that that's crazy at all that you might have gained weight b/c of giving up shopping! It sounds completely reasonable. Like Tneah said, it could also be that the decrease in cardio isn't agreeing with you. I've been trying to add in a little bit of HIIT twice a week, but I need my regular 2-3 hours of intense cardio to lose weight. Glad that the boys are doing better! Now get Brian to get dressed so he can hit the mall with you!;-)

Deb -- I think we were just posting at the same time! I was actually going to tell you about Makeup Alley, so I'm glad you know about it! I can also sit for hours and read all the reviews and info! Love it! My DM was a makeup junkie, and I think I got my love of makeup from her! I don't wear a lot of makeup, but I love to buy it! I just bought a new MAC Lip Glass yesterday, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll let you know how I like it, and I'll also let you all know how today's LA class goes!

RE:

Afternoon all!

Whew! I can't believe I'm just getting here. It's been a busy one. Got up early and did A-Jock's version of Lowmax holding an 8 lb med ball for the blasts. Killer! Then I cut Chris' hair, showered, had breakfast, got laundry going, finally managed to get Sophie moving (after a lovely pre-teen meltdown - OY!). Chris is sooooo sick, so he stayed home while we went to Ikea, the pet store, the grocery store, the drycleaners, the art school (to pick up Sophie's pottery) and the movie store. Finally just got home, made Sophie some lunch and here I am! Yowza!

Deb - you know, when I was a teenager, I wanted to be a make-up artist. I used to have tons and loved playing with it, etc., but now I hardly use much. Just some concealer, eyeliner, a bit of shadow and mascara. I have no idea what's out there!

Lainie - I just got BFL from Amazon. If you're interested in keeping on with it, I'd be happy to do it with you! I'll be doing a sort of modified version so I can still run though. And I can totally see how not shopping could make a difference!

Robin - how nice that you're sending packages to DD's BF. I bet he loves receiving them! I'll be going to Costo tomorrow for the comfy pants!

Tneah - I'm glad DH seems to be getting better. And that you're getting rid of that awful captain! You need to feel safe on your boat!

Jennifer - did you enjoy ASC2? It's one of my faves right now!

TK - how is Christie Taylor, intensity-wise? I got a gift certificate from Collage for my birthday and I'm trying to find a workout to get!

Oh, I forgot to mention that my fave women's clothing store here sent me a coupon for my birthday, so I went and got two really nice camis and a beautiful short-sleeved wrap sweater last night, all for 25% off!

Shutting up now!

RE:

Deb, Just letting you know, for some reason, I am not getting your email? Here is my email address just in [email protected]

:)

Shelley, sounds like your day was crazy! Just like you like it.;) Just wait til Sophie hits 14, I was a terror and a horrid teen.:7 Your new clothes sound so pretty! So happy you had a wonderful b-day.

Ok, now I have to go run around like a banana head.

RE:

Hello Melters.

I just gob tack from "volunteering" at the Home Show today, it was fun and my employer usually thaks me well when I do this stuff.

This AM, I did ACS2 on the ground but still got a workout. Sun AM, I plan to do it on the step. It's easier than it looks, except for combo 5.

Gotta go once again.

RE:

Hi,

Well I think I need a "Melters" intervention. I have eaten what I believe has to be the worst thing in the world! DH and I went to lunch after picking up the car. We went to a local BBQ place ( I know, I know there is most likely nothing there too healthy) but I went overboard to say the least! I had what they call a "Piggy Pie". It is a dish with layers, sort of like a tiered thing. On the bottom is french fries, covered with baked beans, then pulled pork, then cheese, salsa, and you can have the cole slaw on top or on the side.. OMG! I orderd the "small" one, ( called the Lil Oinker..how appropriate is that?) and a side of mac& cheese and a piece of corn bread. I am exploding!

Shelly and Lainie: can I join you in the BFL eating plan? I need help! I am on a binge. If we do this, do we post our eating plan? or what we have eaten that day etc? I used to do this on another thread and it really helped keep me in line. Summer is coming and I don;t want to gain back all that I lost:-(

Deb

RE:

Hi everyone. I'm back and I'm wearing FAT PANTS. Sorry, I got scolded so much about it I had to say it again. ;)

Tneah, I think I got everything, though the Nutrition document only had a 1-day plan--wasn't sure if there should be more. I'll have to check out the Levi's 501s--haven't tried Levi's in a while.

Leanne, that's great that your DH is encouraging you to do a RT! I'm sure I'll have to beg mine to watch the boys so I can go--and it's only a couple hours' drive from here!

Deb, I'm sure I get enough calories--it's probably the opposite problem. Thanks for the eBay tip for getting Lipfinity--good idea! And wow, what you described eating sounds like stuff we would have eaten in Texas growing up. Just today DH and I were talking about our favorite vegetables growing up: fried okra, fried squash, fried 'taters. Stuff we never eat now. You're welcome to join us on BFL though I don't know if I'm going to continue. It has worked wonders for some people but I think I need something more calorie-restrictive, perhaps.

Shelley, haven't decided yet about BFL but I'll let you know. I am tempted by the old WW.

Jennifer, like Shelley, ASC2 is one of my faves. Combo 5 will eventually get easier. I had problems with both 4 and 5 at first, but I think part of it was just being pooped after combo 3. :) I just kept doing 2 or 3 combos at a time until I had them down (though I still mess up from time to time). Maybe next time start with 5 right after the warmup before going to the rest.

RE:

Lainie, no that is it. Just one days worth of meals with their caloric content and so on. But you can substitute foods in the menu, look to the exchange list for a food in that same category, and match the calories. For instance, don't like oatmeal? Which is about 140 calories? Go to the exchange list and eat the same amount in calories in a different starchy carb.I eat 4 rice cakes instead of my oats in the morning. Does that make sense?

Oh Deb, I bet your poor tummy is complaining right now, tomorrow is another chance to start anew. So start anew tomorrow, today is done.;)

RE:

Happy Sunday everyone!

I'm trying to get motivated to go do my run, but it's just not happening for me. Maybe I'll do it later instead. Or maybe I'll take a rest day.

Chris is still really sick and Sophie has a friend coming over this afternoon. I have some more chores to do. You know, this will sound whiny, but I was kinda hoping this birthday weekend would be a little bit about me. So far that hasn't happened. Oh well. You guys made me feel great on Friday.:)

RE:

{{{{Hugs}}} to Shelley. That's how I felt after my knee surgery. Both DD and DH were sick with that terrible flu thing. The only nursing I got was an occassional ice bag refill. Tell your SO and your DD they both owe you a pampered filled weekend!

JT, glad to hear the home show went well.

Deb! You really ate that?!?!? Oh my. I don't think I could even order something called a Piggy Pie. But today is a new day. As our intermittant melter Judy says, drink lots of water.

Lainie, LOL about your favorite veggies. We love to go to a big fair in September and oink out on fried everything - mushrooms, blooming onions, twinkies....Hey, fluffy pants, not fat pants.

Leanne, so how was Amy???? I thought of you while I previewed In the Ring.

Last night we went out for Mexican. It was yummy. The place we go is a BYOB, so we took a nice juicy, fruity red. Then we came home and did the hour of no lights thing. I kept looking out the window, trying to figure out if any of the neighbors were doing it too. The house across the street had just one room with a dim light. When the hour was up, every light in their house was on, so I'm pretty sure they were doing it. Funny, we stayed up in the dark until 9, turned the lights on and all went to bed. I woke up with a nasty head cold. Every part of me aches. I'm skipping church, pizza night and working out today. Hope you all have a fun filled Sunday.

RE:

Good Morning all!

Today I did the Christie Taylor Get Fit & Dance DVD. I am not too sure if this is something I will do again. I thought it would be more of a circuit type workout, but it is more aerobics with a dance theme. I still like the Ab part, which is worth the price of it. I know I will use that part to add to my cardio days. It' still really cold here and no end in sight..sigh..I am so ready for some warmer weather.

Update on the Puppy front..we contacted another breeder of a PBGV ( "Petite Basset Griffon Vandeen").. they had a litter born on Jan28, most are promised to others already. They are 8 weeks old right now, but do not go to the new owners until 10 weeks. They are keeping 2 males that look promising as show prospects right now. They will decide in a couple of weeks. I asked that they contact us if they decide not to keep them. We would want a male. The only problem is that they are in New Castle Delaware. We would have to go to get the puppy. The other one ( Wire Fox Terrier) is in the Chicago area.. no local breeders have puppies right now.

Lainie:
Stop calling them Fat Pants! This will really sabatage your efforts and put you in an awful mood! Yeah the food I ate yesterday was pretty bad..x(

Shelly:
Take the day off! You deserve it.;-)

Robin:
Yes it was bad! I don;t know what came over me.. it was like I was possessed}( . I am starting "anew" today. What is the "no lights" thing about? What did I miss? Was it just in your town? Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I think you are smart to take a rest day today.

p.s I am seriously looking at that pull up tower that Cathe is going to be selling! I wish I would have had it for P90x.

Hi to all that follow:

I will check in again later!
