MMMM, "hubby" is smokin'! We used to have chickens too, but not anymore. Is her condo totally enclosed, cause we always had problems with raccoons. Your kitties are adorable too!

Thanks for all the compliments everyone! I always said I didn't want pets but they really do grow on you! Can you believe DH built the coop all by himself, with scrap materials? He wanted it to look "country" and homemade. I really think he did a great job!
Pearl does not come inside though I've been told that indoor chickens are a growing trend. Anyone considering this should visit www.chickendiapers.com first!
She mostly free ranges and then gets hustled into her run around 6:30. By dark she is locked in the coop, because of predators. As for the clever raccoons, we've not had a problem, yet. The doors to the coop are locked and also have wood slats that we pull down at night across the big door and the chicken door. The wire is buried about 6 inches into the dirt as well. DH plans to put a "ceiling" on the wire.
