medicine ball

They use an 8 pound ball I believe in both, but as far as I know there is no recommended weight ball to start with. When I first started using a medicine ball I was doing FitPrime, and I bought a 2 pound one. I no longer use it, but it was a good weight for me to start with. I believe you can buy them in 2, 4, 6, 8, and possibly even higher weights. Also, in both BC and ME you can even substitute dumbells in any weight you want for the work done with the medicine ball. That way perhaps you can see how much weight you can safely handle in the exercises, and this might help you decide which ball to purchase. Hope this helps!

I bought an 8 lb medicine ball, and it's nice, but honestly, you can just easily substitute a dumbell. See how it goes, you may not need a medicine ball. I don't really need it, but since I have it, I use it. Now the stability ball is another story. That really is a useful tool and rarely can be substituted with a dumbell or a bench.

The medicine ball comes in 10 lbs also, for what it's worth.

At Target I found 3-pound balls, and I use one someimes with ME. They add a challenge. Face it, the exercises are hard without any weight.

When I went shopping for a medicine ball, the choices were 6 or 9 pounds. The 9 pound ball seemed really big and clunky, so I got the 6 pound ball, and it worked great with Boot Camp. I've also used it in Mindy Mylrea's workouts and it worked great there too.
