1. Does anyone do this with regularity?
2. If so, how?
I'm actually quite happy with my plain old digital scale, which I check casually every few weeks or so. But after Googling daily protein requirements, I ran into one article that suggested perhaps we should be basing our intake on our lean body weight, not our total body weight.
In other words, we should subtract our body fat from our weight before we calculate how much protein we need daily. This would obviously result in a lower total number of protein grams per day, especially since some formulas ~ one in particular is in a book I own ~ insist we should eat 1 gram per pound.
There is no question that, being a cracker/pasta girl prior to my nutritional changes, I wasn't getting much protein at all, so any increase is beneficial now that I'm weight training. But lately I'm feeling the need to tweak things. I'd hate to think (at 127 lbs. and 100-115 grams a day) I'm either under or overcalculating. And I'm sure those of you who are struggling to eat more protein would like a more accurate number to shoot for.
