Maximus, question about your workouts...

Hi Maximus, sorry for bombarding you with all these questions, but I've seen your posted pictures (very impressive), and something's obviously working for you, so I'm trying to pick your brain! Now that I know about your diet, what are your workouts like? For example, how often do you do cardio? And how long/often do you do weights? What is your schedule like?

By the way, here's a question for everyone: do you think it's possible to get really buff and cut from only using Cathe's videos? Has anybody here gotten superfit only from using Cathe?

Elaine

Hi Elaine, thanks for the compliment! After I finished college it took me a couple of years to come up w/a schedule I could stick with--here it is:

Sundays: gym workout--40 minutes cardio on elliptical & recumbent bike (sometimes I switch around cardio machines so I don't get too bored). Then legs, shoulders & obliques.

Mondays: Cathe step tape before work.

Tuesdays: off

Wednesdays: chest/triceps/abs at the gym.

Thursdays: Cathe step tape before work.

Fridays: off

Saturdays: gym workout--40 minutes cardio, then biceps/back/abs.

If you want more specifics PM me & I'll give you the exact workouts. Hope this is helpful.........

Hi Maximus

Sorry! but many minutes cardio are you doing each time and how many minutes weight training?

Ive seen people at the gym working out for up to a one and half hours each time, and their not chatting, their seriously working out - what do you think?

Hey Marion--I typically don't do more than 45 minutes of cardio per workout. I read this really interesting article a year or two ago that basically said women & men do not burn fat the same way--women's bodies have evolved to retain enough fat for 9 months (no explanation needed here), so after 60 minutes of cardio the workout becomes anaerobic & therefore your body stops burning fat. Men, on the other hand, can work out forever & burn fat the entire time. I don't know if this is true or not, but it seemed logical.

My lifting workouts are usually about an hour, not including abs/obliques (I don't know why I don't count them, I guess b/c usually I superset them while I work out another body part). So on Saturdays & Sundays I'm usually in the gym for about 2 hours each day & you're right--it's all serious workout time, very little socializing. I have to split everything up during the week b/c of time constraints.

Oh Suck!!!!! Do guys have to work HARD at anything? Explains why DH can drop weight with MUCH less effort than I can - although I have heard that although they can loose quicker, they gain faster (maybe an old wives tale)

So what does the body start burning in an anaerobic state, if not fat, after 60 minutes? My GFs can spend over an hour on the treadmill thinking its all calories.

Thanks
Marion

Thanks, Maximus, that was very helpful. I'm glad to see that you can still get results with TWO days off a week. I guess cardio is a necessary evil then, huh? I find it more than tedious. But if I must, I must.

Cardio is definitely a necessary evil. Not just for weight loss, but for health also. Personally I enjoy the weight training much more, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Marion--apparently you're burning calories instead of fat. I'm not well educated on the physiology of exercise, but here's a link to an article I found that explains it much better than I can:
