Just a lead on from SO's surnames Poll, so even if you are not married yet, or have been married, please feel free to Vote

My DH and I took the Traditional Marriage Vows of "Love, Honour and Obey tell death us do part" etc

BUT

Blow me down, if the OBEY didnt go out the window before the ink had dried.

That man of mine NEVER does what I tell him to (haha)

we didn't make up our own but rather looked around and found little bits of a bunch of vows that we liked.

We did traditional, but changed it to love, honor, and "cherish," which is actually "traditional" in the church where we were married.

Hi Marion,

You are too funny! lol :7

DH and I thought about creating our own vows but amidst the craziness of planning the wedding, that idea kinda "got lost in the shuffle" so we went with the traditional vows that our church uses.

Have a great work out!

Hmmm...I don't even recall exactly how our vows were phrased...depending on the Church, they can be different...If we DID say OBEY, it was said with a grain salt by both me and DH. Neither of us believe in that garbage.

Have a great work out!

Actually, many traditional vows have the woman saying "obey" and the man saying "cherish." (All goes along with women being considered men's property.)

I've never been married, but I would search for some non-traditional vows (and not be married in a church anyway).

Hubby and I actually tease eachother quite often about one of us "ruling" or one "obeying" what the other says...we just laugh about it...we find it funny because it is sooo not the way we function.

Have a great work out!
