....please tell me more!! Is anyone familiar with her workouts?? There's only limited info on videofitness and her website.

Thanks,

Stacy

Hi, Stacy,

I think Margaret is great. Low-key, funny, warm personality. Workouts are all endurance-based and very safe and gentle. Great for an off day with light weights or a tough endurance day if you up the weights. She's had a half hour show on PBS for close to 15 years, which is where I discovered her. Her tapes are pricey so I've never bought them since I get the show on TV, but she's a class act so I imagine they're good. I don't think she has any aerobic tapes, but she has made some walking audio tapes that are fun. She may not be for you if you like to have an all-out sweat-fest every time you work out, but I find her a welcome change of pace from time to time.

Hi Stacy,
Margaret is great, I just love her. Her workouts, as Ann said, are endurance workouts but sometimes I turn them into strength workouts with higher weights. I just do every other rep, unless she's already going slow. I definitely recommend her if you're looking for that type of workout, even just for something new once in awhile.
In my opinion her "Sculpture Upper Body" & "Sculpture Lower Body" tapes are the best. Very thorough.
She does have out a high-low aerobic tape called "Give Me Strength", which I always thought was a strange name for an aerobic tape! LOL I've never seen it though.
One thing though, is that her stuff is very expensive. If you do a search on ebay they are usually selling about a dozen of her workouts at any given time.

I like her, too. I bought the Upper Body Express tape from Borders many months ago (maybe a year?) for $10, but it was pretty short. Under 30 minutes, and not a complete upper body workout. It had some tough pulsing push-ups. It was also pretty dated as far as what she was wearing, if that sort of thing matters to you :)
I also get her show on PBS, so I'm unwilling to spend over $30 to try another tape. But I agree that she has a nice personality and those low weights can really get you! In her show I think she usually uses 5-8 lb wieghts at the most and does lots of pulses and high reps. She does floor work and some dance inspired leg stuff--holding a chair and doing little arabesque-ish lifts back...that sort of thing. She may also do tougher leg work that I'm not aware of.
Maybe try your library or see if you have the show on PBS in your area before you fork out all that cash!

Hi Stacy,

Well, I guess my reply will just go to show that people come in all varieties--I couldn't stand Margaret Richards. I don't know why but she really bored me. I was lucky that I didn't have to spend any money to find this out, I had my parents record some of her PBS shows for me so I could check her out before shelling out the $$. I'd really recommend you do something similar if you can. --Karen

What is her most intense upper body strength and lower body strength workouts?? And, does she do step and hi/lo and if so would you categorize her choreography as more dancey or more athletic???

thanks,

stacy
