Does anyone else remember this exercise & diet program from last year? Has anyone ever done it, and if so, what were your results? Did you lose the 10 pounds? I've always thought this might be an intense program I might want to try some time. Last night I dug out the issue with this article in it and started thinking maybe the time is now since summer is quickly approaching.

For those who have never seen this article below is the breakdown. (I looked under www.findarticles.com and they did not have this issue listed. Sorry I can not find a link anywhere.)

The nutrition plan has you consume about 1600 calories daily. The food is divided into 4 major groups: grains, lean protein, fruits/veggies/ and extras. Here is the breakdown of how many portions of each you should have each day:

Grains - 6 portions @ 80-100 calories/serving (example - 1/2 regular size bagel, 1/2 c. pasta or rice, 1 slice of bread, etc.)

Protein - 4 portions @ 100 calories/serving (example - 6 egg whites, 8 oz. fat-free milk, 1 oz. cheese, 3 oz. tuna (packed in water), 6 oz. light yogurt, 1/2 c. cottage cheese, 3 oz. chicken breast or turkey, etc.)

Fruits/Veggies - 2-3 Fruits @ 60 calories/serving & 4-6 vegetables @ 25 calories/serving

Extras - 3 @ approx. 100 calories/serving (examples - 1 Tbsp peanut
butter, 4 Hershey kisses, 1 Tbsp. butter, 1 Tbsp. oil, 21 jelly beans, etc.)

The workouts look like this. For weight training, you do 3 workout sessions in a week, allowing at least 48 hours of rest between. The 3 kinds of weight workouts to do once a week are as follows: supersets, endurance, & circuits. Also, for the four week period you will do cardio twice a day with each cardio session separated by at least 6 hours and performing intervals on the days you don't lift weights, but one cardio per day is steady-state activity for 45 - 60 minutes such as jogging, stepping, kickboxing, etc.

The article cautions against using this program longer than 8 weeks maximum because you'll run the risk of overtraining.

Any thoughts?
