Lurkers Invitation June

Hi there:

Took the girls for a hike and invited a classmate and her mother along. I wanted to get to Lost Lake which is 1.5 miles in, which is a doable length with the kids, however their friend was so not into the whole thing. She was a real drag to be honest. So we just went a little way to a beautiful waterfall.

Came home and did the Bonus Combo on the Pyramid Styles DVD. I had never done that premix and I liked it for a shorter less intense all over body workout. It is basically to exercise on the legs and than an uppper body part or two. Pyramid up only, and shoegal will love this part no floor work for the legs!

Janie: glad to hear you hand is better. Can't believe you can do 20''s on the flys. I can on the press but not the fly. I tried it tonight but felt my form suffered to much, didn't lower as much as I should to get the full range of motion.

Shoegal: A magic circle is basically a circle with pads on the sides that has some resistance to it. Nothing really fancy actually but it is a good prop for classes and they are fairly inexpensive. The story is that Joseph Pilates, being a German, was quiet the beer drinker and had a small keg of beer in the studio. One day he ripped one of the metal rings that encircled the keg and began to play around with it and hence the magic circle was born.

Michelle: Was that the original Body Max? Wish I could find that stupid Body Max 2 DVD I lost! It's driving me crazy. Sounds like you were just like me on my Imax3 yesterday! Your right keep trying and you will get there and so will I, but it is so hard!!

After my early, early morning on Tuesday, I just haven't recovered this week. Just dragging butt. So today while walking Ripken, I decided to forgo weight work and do the whole of total body stretching. My body felt like it was going to do a muscle revolt if I pushed too hard but I still felt like doing something. Usually, a sure sign that I need to do a good stretch workout.
Back to work tomorrow. Not sure what it will be--maybe Muscle Max.

Janie: are you taking a break from exercise this week while your hand is healing? Are you able to do any cardio?

Laura: that sounds like a good combo on the Pyramid dvd. Others on the forums have mentioned the pyramid combos. Have to take a look at those. I always seem to forget about the combos. And yes, this month I've been focused on the original Body Max. Next month, I'll switch to BM2.

Shoegal: sounds to me like you are going to be exercising the next time the Penguins play.

Hello to Shadowpup, PippaDog, and Ironlady. Looking forward to hearing from you all soon.

Check in Thursday

I did 4DS Boot Camp. I never feel like I get much out of the drills when I do them. I have always walked away from them feeling like I didn't do them well enough or hard enough and I'm disappointed in myself. Happens every time.

Today I feel like I could fall asleep standing up - I feel very drained and I hope that I didn't catch what DH had. At any rate - I blame him.

Tonight - I don't know if I'll manage to do the Kickboxing 4DS - that is on the schedule. For one - I feel so very tired and two - hate kickboxing but I need to finish off the legs.

Laura- had no idea that round thing was called a "magic circle" - I have seen those before - odd name for it. I have gone on walks where someone is not on board and that is a drag - usually that person gets their way and we all turn back before we are ready.

Michelle - funny how a change like an early morning can wreck havoc with our bodies. I think stretch max sounds very inviting. I feel like I have DOMS from 4DS - that just might be the ticket.

Well - I'm going to go lay down - maybe take a nap and then see how I feel.

Time for a Quick Check-In before friends arrive for dinner

Taught my new Pilates class at the Darshan Studio, I tend not to do as much of the workout at this class because there are no mirrors so I have to get up to walk around to see the class better. Otherwise I end up turning my neck while exercising which is how I hurt it a few weeks ago. Came home made lunch for me and the girls and cleaned house. I just had time to squeeze in Imax2 for my workout. Since I just did Imax3 day before yesterday it made it easier to compare. And I find Imax2 way more doable than Imax 3 Cathe really tightens up the recoveries in Imax3 and the blast are more intense. I really liked Imax2 lot the step combos are fun and it is a great workout!

Michelle: good to listen to your body. Maybe try the combo tomorrow if you are still feeling a little run down it is only 45 minutes or something like that and although it is a complete body workout it is only the up pyramid for both standing leg work and upper body so not as tough as the full pyramids or MM. Hope you feel better after your stretch.

Shoegal: I hope you don't get sick! Get lots of rest and take some mega doses of Vitamin C or get some other herbs to boost your immune system.

I literally loaded up the jeep full of clothes and stuff to take to the second hand store. I can't believe how much I could fit into the jeep. Unbelievable! This is what I've been wanting to do for so long. It took me all day. Now I have my closet just the way I want it to be. Every thing is so orderly and still lots of room for future stuff. LOL;)

Yesterday, I cleaned out the much needed pantry and now there is lots of room and it's also orderly. Where is this energy coming from? It took me all day.

I did speed walking around our driveway for 45 min. There are 3 hills to go up, so that was a great workout. I may have burned 300, at least close to it.

Hey you guys -
Well - I marked on my calendar what 4DS I was going to do - and then did something else. I ended up doing LIS - and do you know why???? Because the DVD was already in the machine and I couldn't bring myself to go all the way across the room to change it!!! Yes - lazy, lazy, lazy. But then got up and forced myself to work hard at LIS - really it felt like my energy reserves were quite low and it wasn't like I was wiped out or anything - it just felt like my muscles were fighting me. I don't like how that feels. I worked hard because I was all concerned because the Pens were playing Game 6 and I thought - if I give my all - they will give their all. They won - now the hard part - winning Game 7. I never watch these hockey games - I think I'm bad luck and if I even see a snippet of it I'll jinx them.
I also gardened last night - I put these annuals in and I have such low expectations for them - nothing ever seems to grow very well there except for the Canna/ Calla bulbs. I was planting some calla lillies and I was digging in some soil - and picking up and throwing out the rocks etc. Picked up something that was all smooshy - when I realized that I just picked up and squeezed a toad - I was so shocked that I screamed. I moved him over when another little tiny toad jumped out - I screamed again. They really don't scare me so I don't know why I did all that screaming.
Janie - Glad that your hand will make a swift recovery - it barely sidelined you at all - what are you going to do when you get started - back to STS??
Gonna run - some things to do before the day ends.:)
Shoegal, I get lazy like that sometimes too. At least you did your workout. Good Job! Maybe your energy is low because you need an active recovery week. Try it and see what happens, most likely after your done with that week, you will be stronger than before. Just a thought. I hope your annuals survive for ya. They can be so pretty during the Summer. You are so funny, I'd scream too about the toads if only becuase it was unexpected.LOL:D I'll do cardio until Joey comes back home, also twice a week will do full body workouts. When Joey comes home we'll get right back into STS and do Meso 3.

Took the girls for a hike and invited a classmate and her mother along. Laura, How can anyone not like to hike and see beautiful things? I would have felt leaving her behind. Great workout. Maybe I'm doing the flys wrong. I go as far down as I can before I come back up again. I'll look on the internet to see the form.

Michelle, Good to listen to your body. Some people don't and get hurt. So, good for you. I've been doing cardio, and really thinking about next week to do some full body workouts. When Joey get back, we'll do Meso 3 together.

I did 4DS Boot Camp. I never feel like I get much out of the drills when I do them. I have always walked away from them feeling like I didn't do them well enough or hard enough and I'm disappointed in myself. Happens every time.

Shoegal, I have to admitt, I'm not the drill kind of girl. So, I haven't done them, not ever. Hope I'm not missing out on anything. Hope you don't get sick too. Hang in there.

Laura, One day I would love to take a class from you. They sound so good. Great job on your workout. I love any of the IMAX's, yes, some are harder than others. But that's good though. Some days I feel like an older one, some days I feel like I have more strength and endurance. So glad they are here.

Take care everyone, and have a great evening.

Back in the swing of things this morning. Popped muscle max into the dvd player and went to town. I really like the core exercises at the end. They really get me in the gotcha.

Janie: Doesn't it feel good to clean stuff out? I have a pile of stuff sitting on the floor in my spare bedroom just waiting to be taken to Goodwill. I've also got a few items up for auction on ebay. Looks like most are going to sell. I'm trying to raise some of the money through the electronic yard sell to help with the purchase STS.

Shoegal: boy, hope you are not getting sick. I hate getting sick in the summer. It just seems so wrong. Get lots of sleep and take vitamin C.

Laura: IMAX2 and IMAX3 in one week? Ohmygoodness! You are like wonder woman. Where do you get all your energy?

Check in Friday

So last night - I came home and just took it easy - I was really really tired and thought - well - I'm just going to take a nap. As exhausted as I felt - I didn't sleep at all - my eyelids even seemed heavy - but no sleep. So I laid around - watched tv - and wrestled with the idea of working out. I ended up putting in the 4DS boot camp and I just did the core. The core work was brief but I thought it was great. So I did "something" and I actually feel pretty good today.

Ok - tonight the Pens play - I know, I know - probably nobody cares about this but me - but LET'S GO PENS!!!! Last game - it is such a young team and they did really well - I'm very proud of them. I'm nothing if not loyal to my team.

So I will do 4DS boot camp tonight if possible. DH and I like to go out usually on Fridays and I usually take a day off then but like I said - I like to make up workouts I've missed.

Laura - I too like to clean things out. One of my favorite things to do was to reorganize nearly everything in the house. It is important in my house because there really isn't any storage. No attic, no basement - minimal closets - I try to fit everything in a pantry (its more like a little room) and in the laundry room.

Michelle - good job on MM - I really do love that workout -but there aren't too many Cathe I don't like to be honest.

Laura - so how did your dinner go? I wish I had your social life - you seem to have so many friends to hang out with. Any IMAX is tough - but IMAX3 - yes - very tough. Fun too.

Ok - wanted my nephew to come out to the house again - but this 15 yr old has such a busy schedule he turned me down. Oh well.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!!:D

I did cardio again today, this time on the treadmill for 30 min.

Back in the swing of things this morning. Popped muscle max into the dvd player and went to town. I really like the core exercises at the end. They really get me in the gotcha.

Michelle, Great job with the workout.:) It really does feel good to clean things out. I hope you get enough money to buy STS. It is such a great series, ever.

Shoegal, Sometimes all is needed is a short/brief workout. Good for you.:) I'm glad the Pen's did well. You are such a good fan. Did you workout tonight? Kids at that age are so very busy. Make an appt. for him to come over, if you can.:rolleyes:LOL

Take care everyone. Tomorrow is yet another day at the zoo with my other grandson. Should be lots of fun.

Good morning everyone. Haven't done my workout today yet--will be doing Kick Max a little later.

Janie: well I sold 4 of the 7 items I had for auction on ebay. I'm a long way from $300 for STS--but I've got a start. I've got more stuff to put up for auction. When I try to sell on ebay, I can only handle a few things at a time. It's time consuming to take the pictures, write the description, figure out the S&H, etc. But it's kind of fun. I'll see how much of my STS money I can raise and then I'll be asking for Cathe gift cards for my birthday and Christmas, if need be. I could splurge and just buy the dang thing, but it's a little more fun this way.

Shoegal: so did you exercise during the game last night. The Penguins won so you must have been sweating big time. Those teenagers do have busy schedules. My 13 year old niece will be here in about another week and a half. She'll be with us for about a month, although she is making noise about wanting to cut the visit to 3 weeks so she can get home and spend time with her friends before band camp starts.:( I'm hoping she changes her mind once she gets here. I'd like to take her to a Friday night parade at the Marine Corps Barracks on 8th and I. I think my 3-star general sponsors the parade on July 17th which means she'd have to stay a little longer than she has originally planned. It's really an amazing event: the Marine Corps Band, the Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Silent Drill Team perform. Guess I'll just have to wait and see how that goes. I'm taking a bunch of vacation time while she is here. This summer we are hitting the monuments and museums in D.C. She needs to learn that The Mall is not a shopping center.

More later...

Michelle, Love Kick Max! I should get that one out soon.;) Sounds like Ebay was successful for ya. Preparing for ebay is a job in itself. I use to sell my old VHS workout tapes. Still have plenty left over, but wanted to keep them for nostalgia purposes. I know you are having fun gathering money to purchase STS, (and I don't want to infringe upon your fun) but, can I loan you a small amount to help out in getting STS faster? You are working so hard! I have to admit that once you get it into your hot little hands, it will all be worth it. IMO;)

Take care,

Janie

Just finished Kick Max. Did the Low impact kick box premix--everything but those blasts. Good workout. Plus 16 toe push ups just for fun.

Janie: you are too sweet. I'm just being a cheapie right now, plus I have all these other Cathes. Plus my sister would be majorly miffed at me if I got STS and started without her. We've agreed to be happy with the many, many Cathe workouts that we have, wait patiently for our STS cardios to arrive in the fall, and then get STS at Christmas and start on January 1st. Hey, you know Kick Max would probably be okay with your hurt hand--as long as you don't hit someone when you cross-jab.;)

Time for a little bite to eat and then a little scrub max in the boat cockpit, then cleanup and go to the pool to relax.

First of all I just want to say to Laura: Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to Laura, Happy birthday to you. And many more. Wishing you a fabulous birthday!:D What will you be doing today?

Michelle, Push ups just for fun? My kind of thing too! What a lady. Have fun getting extra money in all kinds of ways for STS. Still, I want to hear more what you do, cause It's fun reading about your adventures to get STS. It's so cool. Enjoy your poolmax.

Today was Zoo day or should I say Zoomax. It was great fun. Afterwords we all ate at Anthony's Home Port. We ate outside, it was warm, just the smallest of breeze, saw seals, jellyfish, seagulls...Fantastic day. And my grandson was so charming. He knows how to win over grandma. LOL

THANK YOU JANIE HOW SWEET!
Sorry I have been so out of touch, I have been busy celebrating a Birthday Weekend!! Friday I got spend the whole day with some college friends with no kid, no husband! It was a fanatastic day of just relaxing at a friends house. I really needed that. It was a rest day as far as exercise goes and I truly did get to rest.

Yesterday I did both PUB and PLB which was awesome full body workout. Than we went to a party for me and another Gemini friend. It was a costume party where you dressed up as your alter ego and I completely spaced that bit of the party so I showed up like I normally do and my friends set upon my like a pack of wild dingos and dressed me up in this dress I would never ever wear, it was a tiny slinky red dress that was skin tight. And to be honest it really didn't look to terrible. All this hard work is paying off after all! I had great time but drank more than I should have.

Hope everyone else is well!

Hi,
Just got back from a short mountain bike ride after dropping the girls off at Horse Back Riding Camp. I had to walk my bike through some technical areas but I burnt 598 calories.

Later tonight are my two classes. I am going to focus on Lower Body for the total tone class and the pilates will be core.

Hope everyone is well.

Dang--I totally zoned yesterday and forgot to log on to wish Laura a happy birthday. Hope you had a great day.

Just finished B&G (the 78 minute version). I'm going to have to bring my ankle weights down to the boat so I can use them on B&G. I'd have to say between the B sections and the G sections, I prefer the Gutt work. But maybe it's because I know I'm getting toward the end of the workout.

Last night was really nice here at the marina. Sunday evenings are always quiet because everyone leaves for the work week. We grilled hamburgers and I made a salad. Nothing fancy, just simple summer fare. Yummy.

Janie: zoo max sounds like fun. Depending on how the summer schedule goes while Chelsea is here, we may try to get to the National Zoo as well as do the monuments and museums.

Laura: PUB and PLB on your birthday followed by a party is a great way to celebrate.

Shoegal: have we heard from you since the Penguins won the Stanley Cup?

Shadowpup: where are you? Hope you are doing okay.

Laura, I love birthday the way you celebrated it. Good for you! You also had time for your workouts, hey, you are doing very well.;) After trying on the dress, it must have been such a great feeling to have your body like that. Congratulations! It's paying off for sure.

Laura, love mountain biking, but we do it during the Fall. Too cold in the Winter and Spring, and to hot during the Summer. I bet the girls loved the horse back ride. That's a lot of burnt calories. Yeah!:D

Michelle, You did the whole version? WOW! I want to workout with you just to keep me motivated!:D Sounds like Sun. barbecue was very lovely. Oh I do hope you go for the Summer schedules. They are so memorable.

Talk later, I got floors to do, vacuuming and scrubbing kitchen floor. Tonight are the bathrooms. (toilets, bathtubs, sinks, counter tops) Joey will be back home on Wed. and want everything really nice for him.

Oh Boy - Sorry Laura -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I feel very badly :( that I didn't log on & wish you a great day - I put it on my work calendar and totally missed it - but it sounds as if you celebrated all weekend long and had some great fun. Love that alter ego party - wow what a great idea. You did PUB & PLB in one day???!?!?! Wow- I'm impressed. Sounds fantastic. Also Happy Anniversary in advance - I know it is Friday - but wanted to get my good wishes in early.

Janie - How was the zoo with your grandson???

Michelle - What are you selling on ebay? I think that is a really great idea!! Is it hard to do? I love you that you kicked out 16 toe push ups just for fun -when I do push ups - I do it more for practice and necessity - never just for fun. Maybe that is my problem. Chelsea sounds like she is in for such a great time - I'm sure she'll want to stay once she gets there.

YES - Stanley Cup Champs over here!!!! Woo Hoo!!! So proud of them - did not watch any of the game. DH & I were invited up to the neighbors for a bonfire - the game was on in their downstairs gameroom - and the people there would peer through the window to watch. I refused - I said if I saw any part of the game they would lose. So at one point - near the end, about 6 minutes to go - we were up 2 goals to none. My DH thought it would be okay to go in and watch. I still would not go. He walked into the room - walked right back out and said "you were right - we can't watch, they scored a goal right when I walked in there." Anyway I am delighted.

As for myself - I have been a total sloth and didn't workout at all. I'm very upset and decided that I am making a renewed effort to work out very hard. Decided that in that spirit - I would do a workout from Hardcore Extreme. Sounds all scary, doesn't it? I shouldn't have any problem with distractions since DH is out of town until Wednesday - he went to St. Kitts on business. I begged to go - I said one day of the beach is better than nothing but alas - here I am still at home.

Well. hope everyone has a super day.

Shoegal, The zoo was so fantastic! My grandson knows he has me over a barrel. Bless his little heart. Can't help it though. He's a really good boy. Congratulations about the game. I'm glad for you. Enjoy your renewed effort for working out. I've been doing cleaning as you know, and not workoing out either. It just isn't the same without my Joey. Thursday, we'll start again with Meso 3. In the meantime, I'm going to let him get settled in again. Can't wait for tomorrow!:D Awe, I'm sorry you didn't make it to the beach.

I have the stove self cleaning right now, I need to finish my bathroom up, and then I'll clean the refridgerators today. Then I'm all done, and everything will be tidy.

Check in Tuesday

Well - things did not go according to plan - although I did better eating wise -simply because I ran out of Cheez-Its - thank God!!! Had some fresh cherries instead - awfully good too.

Unfortunately, I started 4DS Kickbox workout with all my good intentions in place. My back - goodness it was just not happy and it forced me to quit straight away. From that moment on - really was in pain all night - I couldn't find a good spot to lay that would allow me some peace. I did end up sleeping some and the pain did subside a little the next morning. My drive in was not pleasant - and I was praying it would end soon. Right now - I feel, well - better but the pain is still there. I don't even know why it hurts like this. I called the doctor and have been waiting for them to call back. Hopefully, I will be well enough to exercise tonight.

Janie - glad Joey is coming home soon - that will be nice for you. You have been really busy with all that cleaning - I know I feel rather good when the house is in order. Glad the zoo was a great day. Did a little gardening yesterday - love to watch things grow. Most every annual I planted in a pot seems to be doing quite well. On the flip side while I was doing a bit of planting yesterday the dogs would come on by and trample them to death. Hope they make it.

Hope everyone has a great day!!! It is a great week for birthdays - Laura's was on Sunday, My nephew's was on Monday and My sister's is today.

Hi everyone,
Been quiet on the check-in lately, huh? Must be summertime. Anyway did my Pilates class this morning, pretty gentle with lots of stretching, and just did GSBS&B. I think I need to go up in weight soon. I am right at that point where I can do it through with good form and it is tough but not quite tough enough yet jumping up 5 lbs might be to much. Any suggestions of how to increase weight safely?

Shoegal: I am so sorry to hear about your back. Back pain is no picnic. Actually that is how I got into Pilates is because of back pain. It is the only thing that keeps me pain free. I hope you are feeling better and I would encourage you NOT to workout today and let your body rest. I know how hard that can be, it is for me too but if something is wrong with your back you don't want to do anything that could make it worse, such as herniating a disc. I don't want to scare you but that is one of the risks.....

Janey: Wow sounds like you have been on a Serious Clean Max kick. I need to do that around here too.... take the time to get beyond the surface clean and go deep....glad you enjoy your grandson so much. You are lucky to spend so much time with him. My mom is considering moving to Boulder to be closer to us.

Michelle: Your boating experience sounds so wonderful and summertime like. I like your plan for STS in the new year. I hope to join you and your sister. Maybe I can get it for Christmas and do a rotation with the STS Cardio!! What a great way to bring in the New Year.
