Luna Bars

Is it safe to eat Luna Bars while being pregnant? I read that you have to be careful with nutrition bars due to Vitamin A. Does anyone know if Luna Bars are ok?

Kristine :)

Hi Kristine!
I'm sure they are. I've eaten power bars, balance bars and right now I'm hooked on Clif bars. Those are all safe too. You're not absorbing bucket full of Vitamin A. Don't worry ;-)

i like the detour bars also, and they have very few added vitamins. i swear, if they told me a snickers was "good" for me, i'd eat that too:)

curly, do you have any sweet cravings, or is it just the hot stuff?

I have a sweet tooth like no other!! But I love candy period. I usually like the chewy stuff, like gummy. But when I'm preggo I gravitate towards the CHOCOLATE! I stayed away from it best I could this time around but just recently I've been indulging. Ya know when you are as uncomfortable as I am I kinda don't care anymore, it'll be over soon and back to normal. She is so low, head down and some striking pains come with movement. i think cuz I'm petite and have a short torso it's much different for me than someone tall and long;-)
I love the hot stuff when I'm not preggo too. But what's funny is just recently hot seems really hot to me, so I have to use very little now. Weird huh?

Not preggo I'm a cookie, cake and candy lover. As long as I stay active, it luckily doesn't stick, but I eat it in moderation, not all the time. To me, if you don't eat certain things everyday or all the time, it doesn't matter if you eat it. And I refuse to feel guilty. I hear people moan and groan all the time, eh! If you don't eat it all the time, who cares enjoy! Ya know.

Morris, how are you feeling, you are so close. Does your lil one do gymnastics inside?

i will reply to you here too curly!

i feel great today. i mean i am cramping in my lower back and tired, etc, but i had these rotten headaches last week that made me miserable, and they are just not there today. i am so grateful. i have had lots of energy to do all kinds of silly things today like laundry and cleaning and oraganizing. yesterday at dr i had progressed to a whole 2cm - my dr stripped my membranes and i really didn't even feel discomfort. now, if my little guy would just not feel quite so content inside, maybe he'd decide to come out. i may have to break imax 2 out tomorrow to jump start him perhaps, though after what heather said about the castor oil....nahh, i am not that brave yet:)

I love Luna Bars and when I was pregnant, I ate them in moderation, like everything else, usually when I wanted something sweet (ok, one not every day, but almost!). That was in addition to the pre-natal vitamin (which I would sometimes forget to take). My daughter was born very healthy, and still is. I never drank protein shakes or ate any other kind of protein bar.

Morris, there's a wives tale that you get a burst of energy just before it happens!!!:7 You are soooo lucky you had like no discomfort with the stripping. Awesome doc!! Forget castor oil, I would have somebody massage your legs and feet with pure peppermint oil, you can get at any health food store. Peppermint oil brings on contractions. My sis is an aromatherapist/life coach/ yoga instructor;-) She did it for me. I was miserable that Thursday. and she totally rubbed my legs/feet and that night at 12am my water broke;-)

hi there, i just want to mention that my husband and i are currently trying to conceive, and i am a runner and advanced excersiser. my doctor said luna bars are a great snack for woman because they are very high in folic acid (absolute necessity for conceiving or pregnant women) and high in calcium and fiber. plus they are really yummy :)
