Lucky too?

With all the talk of how great Lucky jeans are, I FINALLY got to a Lucky Jeans store today.

Actually, I started at Bloomingdale's, but they didn't have any shorter length Luckys, so they sent me up the street to the Lucky store. I wasn't too sure about the whole thing. For one thing, the sales people talked me into buying a pair that was one size smaller than I was comfortable in. They kept telling me how they are going to stretch like crazy. I figured they knew, so I bought the smaller pair.

They felt really soft and comfy like Wendy said, but a bit tight. There was only one pair of dark wash Sweet 'n Lows in my size, so I figured it was a sign that I should buy them. Tragically, there was NO 3-way mirror in the darn store, so I had to trust what the salespeople and customers told me about my butt looking okay.

Those who love Luckys, do you get the Sweet 'n Lows? I sure hope I wear 'em. I feel kind of shy about all that tightness.

Nancy, I hope they work for you!! The salespeople told me a year or two ago, when I was in the store, that I should wear this teensy pair of Sweet n Lows, and I couldn't even fit into them to even button them. I left, but I'm feeling like maybe this weekend I'll go back and maybe try and get Lucky, LOL.

I'm sure that the tighness that feels uncomfortable for you will ease up, and you'll become more comfortable in them, physically and mentally!

Hmm, I actually found these at Marshall's earlier today (29.99 vs. the 89.00 retail pricetag), and they were very soft but I was uncomfortable with how low they were - almost muffin-top producing (yikes!). They felt like a junior cut, so I didn't get them. I'm not sure what style they were, though, but gosh, was I disappointed!!! The fabric felt fantastic.

I am sure you will look gorgeous, Nancy!

I get the "peanut pant" style -- and they do stretch, but not a ton. When I wash mine, I always let them air dry. I was visiting my Mom once and she threw them in the dryer on hot w/her sheets. Boy, were they tight then!

Thanks so much Amy!

They really tried to convince you to buy jeans you couldn't button? That sounds like it may be going a bit too far. These jeans are so stretchy, though, it seems like you can always s-t-r-e-t-c-h the button into the hole. But I would think that would have a tendency to create the dreaded muffin look.

Good luck this weekend!

I just had to chime in that I have experienced the same Lucky sales pressure to go smaller, but I just couldn't do it. I even bought the easy rider style of Lucky jeans at least I think that's what they are called, and they are a very relaxed fit. They do stretch, and if they aren't roomy enough when I first put them on then I do a few squats in them to promote the desired roominess effect.

I am starting to worry about my fashion sense, ever since I started watching "What Not to Wear" I fear that I am stuck in a rut of jeans, sweats and t-shirts. I should venture out and purchase the cami's with the cute sweaters, but man my sweats are comfortable!
Cue the girgle music!

LOL Resa. WNTW can do that to you. Make you start to doubt yourself. I have the opposite problem in a way. Too many stuffy work clothes and not enough casual stuff. I rarely wear jeans because they tend to make my waist feel restricted. I hope these low-waisted jeans will allow me to feel like I can eat. And breathe.

Is this really what they are called? If this is, it is what I want to ask for first.

LOL, I would have gone bigger, but I was on my lunch hour and they had my sizes way up high so I couldn't reach them! Have you ever noticed they put the short styles on TOP and the long ones at the bottom?! I can't believe that, LOL.

Now I'm getting into the thought of trying them out. I fear my thighs will still be too big, based on last weekend, where my but/waist fit into lots of teenier ones, but my thighs didn't. Sigh. I guess I'll never know until I try!!!

I'm pretty sure Stacey and Clinton would have MUCH to say about my wardrobe!!! Then again, I think my entire wardrobe has in total cost me $5,000 over a period of about 4 years... so let them talk!! I do feel guilty when I wear sweats to the grocery store now, though...

Amy, I'm sure Stacy and Clinton would have a lot to say about a lot of us. For example, I don't wear enough color, have too much gray and black in my wardrobe, and they'd probably say I wear things too loose. I wish someone would nominate me for the show! Wouldn't that be funny though if Nick looked at my hair and said "it needs a lot of work" and then found out that I get my hair cut at his salon? Guess they would never pick me for that reason.

-Nancy

I think that would be really funny if Nick attacked your hair!! LOL, but I think he HAS to change their hair.

I can't believe the woman on last night was 6'1". I can't imagine being so tall!!! LOL, she probably weighed the same as me! :p

Was that the dog show woman? I could not believe her transformation! The strange thing is that at the beginning of the show during her ugly duckling stage, I thought oh she seems a little odd. Maybe a little too into her dogs. Then when she was transformed, I thought she seemed a little snotty. Look at me---I'm stunning, oh well, at least we don't have to worry about her pulling a Paris Hilton and using the dog as an accessory.

Oh and Nancy! What's it like to get your haircut by Nick?

I have Sweet N Lows, and they've definitely stretched. When I first wore them, it was really uncomfortable to sit in them--I was worried I would have to take them back. Anyhow, I toughed it out and lately I have been thinking that I need a belt to hold them up, they're so loose. I don't throw them in the dryer, however--I let them air dry. A few years back I bought Lucky Jeans (dont' know what style) in a size bigger than the sales person recommended--they were actually comfortable right off the start. I can't wear that pair anymore--even when I put them in the dryer, they are so ridiculously big on me that it looks like I'm wearing a sack held up with a belt.

Last, I have one other pair of Lucky jeans (again, don't know the style name) that I have had for a few years that won't stretch out no matter what I do. They're *really* tight, and I always make sure I'm wearing a loose shirt or a jacket over them to hide the muffin effect.

Last time I was in the store, the sales person told me that the amount of Lycra they put in the pants varies from style to style--so some of them stretch out, some don't.

I like the way Lucky jeans look, but I wish they would make them slightly less low-waisted. That's my only complaint.

Hi -- yes, they're really called peanut pant, and they're soooo comfortable.

Glad to hear that they stretched, Bunbun. Yes, I heard that the amount of lycra varies. They told me that the pair I bought has a lot of lycra and that's why I need the smaller size.

They are pretty low-waisted, and mine aren't even "ultra" low. I like my pants to hit just below the belly button, but not too low. I think these are as close as I'm going to get in a jean.

Resa,
I don't get my hair cut by Nick. His haircuts are $400. But there are plenty of other great stylists at his studio, and they are all trained by Nick. I recently found out that my stylist is Nick's wife.

The thing I've notice about Arrojo is that they always try to work with the hair, rather than against it. If your hair is curly, they keep it curly. The other thing I've noticed over the years is that they don't just cut hair, they frame faces. The hair styles are designed to bring out the best features of the client's face. I know I sound like a commercial for Arrojo Studio, but I'm so grateful to them for showing me how to enjoy my hair rather than fight with it all the time!

-Nancy

And that right there is the true test of a great haircut... if you enjoy your natural hair!!! I don't understand why that can be such a difficult thing, LOL

I went to someone new for the first time in 10 years- my old one moved 2.5 hours away- the new one was this woman's boss- she did a great great job... and then I tried to go cheaper... and what a complete and total mess!!! This one who was cutting was trying to fight my hair- she disagreed with me that my hair was wavy/curly (?!?!?) and she DISREGARDED my request to thin it out. I found out later she will never do that because she believes "hair thins out as you get older so you should enjoy thick hair while you can". OMG I still can't believe it.

Anyway, I end up paying $85/cut and I truly believe it's worth it!

Oops, I'm still in the Lucky jeans thread... eek... backing out!!! ;)
