LowMax

I just got back into Cathe workouts after a summer and fall of walking/running every day and then doing nothing for a few months (illness and remodeling my workout room). I have been doing LowMax in segments (premix 1 and 2) for about a week and not really feeling it, so today I went from 6" to 8" on my step......Oh my goodness!!!! What a difference! I feel like I got a FANTASTIC workout today! Whoooo! Hooooo!

Have a super day everyone!

If I recall, when this workout was released, some people only did the first couple of segments and then quit. They complained that it was too easy. Yeah, I agree, it's a great workout, especially when you up the step height like Cathe suggests. It's one of my favorites. Sounds like you are doing it right too, working up to it slowly. Keep up the good work.

Huh? TOO EASY? Whoever said that just isn't doing the workout right.......this is one of my favorites--easy on the knees but still gets me sweating & panting. Also the choreography is fun & not too much time is wasted on teaching.

Agree! Whoever said it's too easy was not doing it right!

I love this workout.

Laura - I agree it's the one workout I do with 8 inches.

I never agreed with that opinion that LowMax is too easy. At 6" step height it's a good solid workout but at 8" it's phenomonal!

I really like this workout. I've been doing some of her easier ones and working up into her harder ones. Plus, I just had a biopsy done and jumping around and heavy lifting was out of the question for a while. I love that I can still do Cathe and not have to do major modifying because of physical limitations. Also, I had been mixing the easier workouts with the harder workouts and I don't feel over trained. Lee Ann

I have to agree, if you think this workout is too easy than you aren't doing it right, GO LOWER}(, make sure you use at least an 8" step, kick, punch, and knee smash HARD, and you can always up the intensity on most of the combos by lifting moves that Cathe keeps grounded.
For example,
1)The over, face-in, overs can be lifted in the WU
2) the basic steps done on the narrow ends of the steps in one of the later combos can be done like those in the beginning of blast 2 (?) in IMAX 3 where you jump up and quickly change your feet while star-bursting your arms
3) there is time to go over the step and back when Cathe is doing a repeater off the side of the step and then a pivot
4)during the lateral "A" step you can also do ski jumps side to side rather than the side steps on the floor.
Fire in the thighs!!

Oh, I just wanted to add that some think the cardio in HSC is too easy as well. Make sure your do this on an 8" step as well and that will get you breathing!

Those are good tips, Mattea. I have always used the 8" and do go low but I just found the blasts too far spaced out (does that sound right?). So, I can get a little bored. I guess I need to rev it up and not just take it easy.

I think LowMax is a killer. I do it on a 8" step and really work it. The first four segments are very tough, the last 3 easier, but still hard work. I always feel like I get a GREAT workout with LowMax. I gues I would have to be a star athlete to think it is easy.
