lower body workouts

Hi Everyone!

Hope you can help me. I posted earlier that I was having surgery in March. My doctor says I will be able to do cardio and lower body training but I will not be able to lift any weight. Can anyone recommend some lower body workouts that do not involve lifting or holding weights?

Does the Firm or Tae Bo have anything that targets this area? I am planning on incororating Cathe's tapes as much as I can. I guess the rotations will just have to be put on hold. As you can read.....I am having a hard time with this because I really love lifting weights and do not want to lose all that I have worked so hard for.

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Have you ever tried Firm It Up from the Slim Series (Debbie Siebers / Beach . )? It uses really light weights for lunges and squats and no weights for floor work and some standing leg work and is very tough! I'd imagine if you used no weights on the lunges and squats, you'd still get a good workout.

Also, I've been doing the lower body pre-mixes from Push/Pull and Supersets and just for fun, have been researching ways to make them all stability ball workouts. (I have a book called "Bounce Your Body Beautiful" by Liz Applegate that has a huge variety of stability ball exercises from the very basic to advanced). For example, at the beginning of Push/Pull, in place of the squats with a barbell, I'd do a squat with the ball in between me and the wall (behind my back) or do a sitting squat with the ball on the floor. There are also lunge alternatives with the ball. Most of those workouts are ball exercises anyway, but you can find ways do work the same areas of the non-ball weighted lower exercises to still get to work out with Cathe.

Hi - Actually, Tamilee Webb's I Want Those Buns is a pretty good 15 minute workout. When you are better, for days you need a really quick workout, you can add weights.

Hi Karen,

The Pilates side kick series might be a good way to keep your legs toned without using weights. I have the Winsor Pilates videos, and I believe there one specifically for abs.

I hope your surgery goes well.
