Lower Body--how heavy should I go?

Thank you for all you do for us!

My question is as follows: How heavy should I go on lower body if I want to maintain strength and endurance but not increase in bulk? I am 5'2" with stocky legs. I was using 50# for squats and most lunges (depending on how evil the reps are), but my pants are fitting tighter in the thighs. I've dropped back to 45# and am wondering if I should go back to 40#.

I noticed when the Gym-Style workouts came out, that you still didn't go heavier than 40# in the legs. I know that you don't use your maximum when filming, but I wondered if you stayed at a certain weight with lower body.

Thank you,
