Lower Body Exercises Using Ankle Weights

normandy

Cathlete
Do any of Cathe's weight tapes use ankle weights? I cannot do her lunges or dead man lifts, and am looking for gym-style weight tapes where ankle weights are used for quad lifts, side leg raises, stuff like that. I have her ME, PH/MIS, PUB, and while the upper body workout is great, the lower body exercises are not what I am looking for.

Anyone know of anything like that? Thanks.

Cathe uses ankle weights in Leg's & Glutes. She does the quad lifts & side leg raises like you want. The inner thigh work is great too. There are several other exercises I am certain will work for you also. I LOVE this tape. Also, you might want to get PS-Legs...Cathe uses a bodybar in the workout but ankle weights could be subbed very easily. Good Luck!

Thanks, Debbie -- I sure can't complain about the speed of that answer! Going to look at legs & glutes to see if there is a dvd version. Also, I was definitely thinking of getting PS dvd -- have you done it? Is it toooooo slow?

I am abolsutely hooked on PUB upper and find I do that almost exclusively, sometimes with different weights, but mostly with one weight and I vary the speed, etc.

Thanks again for your fast response and good suggestion!

You're welcome! Yes, there is a DVD version and it includes K,P& C, another goodie! I personally don't think PS legs is slow??? I think it's a great workout. I have not done it in a while but remember it includes a standing workout (plies, squats, leg presses, calf work, sit& stands (OUCH!)and such. It then, goes to the floor to work inner, outer, hamstrings and such. It concludes with a good AB workout. I think you would be happy. Check out the clip. PUB is awesome! The stability ball work is sooo good. Hard, but good! ENJOY!

Just checked out the legs/glutes dvd and unfortuntely, KPC is past my workout ability! So I might order vcr (which I hate reverting to) of legs & glutes, and am definitely going to get dvd of PS. Maybe I'll check EBay.

And now-- using all my will power, I am going to log off -- I started to leave the house two hours ago!.

Anyhow, many thanks, Debbie. Have a great day.

The KPC/L&G DVD is well worth the investment! There are multiple premixes that shorten the KPC workout, plus premixes that make circuits out of the two workouts.

Even if you feel KPC is out of your range now, it's so much fun and something to grow into. Plus, if you had a day you wanted to do the standing work on one of your other workouts, you can easily add the premix on L&G for the ankle weights - no FF or rewinding!

I was going to say the same thing Diane said. For $20.00 more you have another whole truckload of workouts you can pick & choose from. (BOTH the L&G's & K,P&C DVD's) Sooo many options! If you stick with Cathe workouts, you might just surprise yourself how soon you WILL be able to attempt K,P&C! Have we spent MORE of your $'s YET??? :7

YOU PEOPLE ARE REALLY A VERY, VERY BAD INFLUENCE! Of course, now I am going to order the DVD of glutes even tho I doubt I will grow into KP&C -- not at my age!!!!!

I do wish I had been organized enough to get several of these dvd's at once, and at least I would have saved on the shipping charge.

Incidentally, I have a bunch of vcr tapes -- MIS, PH,, PUB upper and lower, Gilad, Kathy Smith, etc -- but obviously this or the videofitness exhcange would not be good for this -- who would want to exchange dvd's for vcr's? EBay sounds like a lot of trouble setting it up --any good ideas?

Thanks so much to all of you great people for your ideas!!!!!!

Ha! I knew we could convince you! And, don't let age stop you. You can, you can, you can! (This is coming from a YOUNG 51 YEAR OLD! ALMOST 52!) I think if you add the DVD to your Hardcore order (did you order it?) you might be able to get the K,P& C/L&G's DVD shipped for free. Just e-mail customer service and ask if you can add it on. They will send it out NOW even though the HC Series isn't being shipped yet. Hope I have this right??? Not familiar with exchanging DVD's for VHS's but you could just sell your VHS tapes to help counteract your DVD addiction! ;-) HAVE FUN!

Ripe old age of 52??? I haven't been there for many, many years!

No, I didn't preorder hardcore because I am really disapointed that the gym-style workout is going to be on 3 separate dvd's.

If I am so enamored of PUB, do you think S&H would be a good addiiton? Whenever I start to do PH/MIS/ I end up working out with PUB again.

As far as selling tapes -- where and how to go about that is the problem.

Thanks again (and again and again)

The exact exercise a personal trainer set up for me,

Well, just the fact that you are still at it...YOU GO! I think S&H is awesome and has some excellent UB work to give you a break from PUB, which I like a lot too! And, don't say I didn't warn you about the bicep section. WHEEEWIE!!

In my opinion the S&H legs tape is not as hard as most of Cathe's LB tapes, but still a very good workout. (Just did it yesterday.)

Sorry, I cannot help you on the selling of your tapes as I am a packrat and save everything! I have some VHS & DVD's of the SAME workout and will NOT part with them ever. I always get nervous my DVD player will quit so then, I have VHS for back-ups. Just an idea.

Also...you might want to hang onto some of the "easier" tapes for a time when they might come in handy such as coming off an injury. I learned that myself this past year.

Maybe wait til after the Hardcore Series comes out and read reviews about them and maybe then, you can order one or two of them later. There I go again, trying to spend your $'s!:7

Hope someone can pop in here & help with your selling of old workouts.

Normandy,
You could try selling them on eBay, although I suspect there's less and less of a market for VHS because so many people have switched to DVD.
You might also consider swapping them for other workouts you want to try; a couple of sites like Videofitness and Fitprime, to name just two, have places for people to list videos they would like to trade.
Good luck!

Thought I'd make your day -- I just ordered S&H. Happy now that you got me to spend more money?

As far as legs & glutes, can't get myself to spend that much when I know I'll never do Kick, punch, etc., and there seems to be a lot on legs & glutes I won't be able to do, either.

Anyhow, thanks so much to all of you for your great advice (expensive as it may be!)
