Lower back and hip pain

Lower back which pain which extends to the left hip, on the side pain, front and back. Anyone ever have this? For 3 weeks I just walked on the treadmill, talk about boring! Finally last weekend it felt better and I did some jogging, seemed okay. Then I got on one of those new nifty eliptical trainers at my gym Monday night and put the tension up nice and high thinking this should be fine, NOT! Now I am almost back to square one. Comments anyone?

I'm not an expert but it might be your hip flexor. I went through the same thing a couple of years ago. I just rested for a week or so and it went away. I think in my case it was an overuse injury. Now I'm careful with my workouts and always give that area a good stretch after my workouts.

I just went through this last week. For me it was from a kickboxing segment that really overused the hip and hip flexor area. I did low impact and stretched it a lot for a week and it is now gone. I am careful with too much high impact activity. It tends to get sore after too much jumping.

I had sciatica for about 6 months and this to me does not sound like sciatica. You would feel it in the back of the legs and more in the glutes if it were that. Good luck and hang in there:)

There may be a problem with your sacroiliac (SI) joint. Do a search on SI joint pain and see if that sounds like the pain you're feeling.

Sounds like what I am experiencing after my hip replacement, I have a slight case of bursitis now for crying out loud. The doctor told me its very common, but will go away. But the pain thing is not constant, its just when I get up after sitting for a long time and when I stretch the hip flexors.
Good luck with your hip. I would go see a doctor about it. My lower back goes out super easy and effects the rest of my body, so maybe its just a low back issue, in which case I recommend a chiropractor who deals with athletes, they will know exactly what is going on.:)

I have the same problem. It's not sciatica, it would run down your leg. I had to go through a series of tests ranging from PT to MRI and now neurosurgery. I found I had disc related problems due to previous injuries and degenerative disc disease.

Your problem could be a number of different things, even a tore muscle would cause a great deal of pain wrapping around your hips from your lower back. It could be a number of things. Please go to the doctor if it doesn't get better, because you could be making it worse by not going. That was my mistake. I tried bulling my way through the pain and thought it wasn't anything and made the problem worse to the point I couldn't walk for 3 months. I couldn't even dress myself. So for heaven's sake go to the doctors.
