Low or no impact workouts?

Hello everyone - I have a stress fractured toe  So, I need to do low or no impact workouts for a while. I'm a cardio girl thru and thru so this has been extremely tough for me. My question is this......

Anybody have some suggestions for workouts without the impact? I'm going to be doing more weight workouts, but wondered about Yoga or Pilates. I'm not familiar with those types because, like I said, I'm a cardio girl!!! ;)

Thanks in advance!
Marcia.

Kettlebell workouts are high intensity without impact. If you're interested, do a search for threads on the subject. There have been a lot of them lately.

Good luck healing that fracture!

Hmmm...I had a broken foot many years ago and I'm trying to remember what I could actually do comfortably/without compromising the healing process.

Cycling, definitely, since I could wear a stiff-soled shoe and didn't need to flex my feet or toes at all. Yoga relies on a lot of toe-flexing movements, so I don't know about that, but pilates should be possible without much modification.

Kettlebells, probably! Although you need to be flat on the floor (no shoes or flat-soled shoes), and balance may be an issue.

I guess it depends on how painful the toe is, how much padding/protection/splinting you've got and how much you're allowed to move around?

I did Petra Kolber's Bootcamp Boogie and found it very low impact. I also really loved it and the music. I am currently doing her Just Dance, which is also low impact and a lot of fun. My other current cardio is Ellen Barrett's Barefoot Cardio--low impact, but not sure if you can handle the bare feet--and Dancin' Abs (really fun) and Cardio Barre (not sure I really love this guy). All of these are low impact, and medium intensity. I like BBL, but the only real cardio in the set is Cardio Axe, which is a blast of fun if you like shakin' yo booty.
