Low Carbers & Friends - June 2012

First of all, I apologize, Tracy for not getting here yesterday . So let me wish you a heart-felt (and embarrassed) Happy Belated Birthday!!!!!!!!!! And congrats on that new job ! I say not to worry about the exercise! Getting settled into the new job and keeping up with your daily life is more than enough for now :)!

Melinda - I've always said I wish I could start all projects at the end because by then you've figured everything out :p! Too bad that's not even possible ;)...

Cripes... Me too Tracy. I wasn't able to get to anything on-line yesterday. Darn court.

Hope you had a wonderful birthday!!!! Did you do anything special? What's this about a new job? Details girl! HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY again and hope that DH treated you right.

I'm hiding. Jk. Awful slow around here. I've been taking a day off here and there. Busy with the house (yard stuff) DH has been busy with golf.

Lita - when you use the guar gum, do your muffins puff up and then collapse? I can't figure out how to stop making them concave on me. I don't remember them doing that before, so I think it is the addition of guar gum. They look very pretty until the start to cool down, then wrinkle, wrinkle wrinkle!!

Rhea - Sounds like everything is status quo at your place ;). I think DH should have to help with the work so you BOTH can golf! Yes, I have noticed the guar gum does that . I'm not sure why I continue to use it other than it adds fiber - which is not all it's cracked up to be. I can't remember, though, if they're at least lighter than if you don't use it at all ...

Hi babes!! Thank you for the birthday wishes!! DH treated me good--he got me a 3G Kindle Touch! :D Now I will be able to get email without needing wi-fi and will be able read books in a big enough font that I won't need reading glasses. Yippee! Of course, I haven't even gotten through the instructions for it yet....

New job--got a promotional position in a different division of the Attorney General's office, that's also in a different building, about 15 minutes from my old building. :) I am supervising now, and even got a raise, yippee! Other than supervising, the division wants the litigation support work to increase on the part of the paralegals for the attorneys. 4 of the paralegals now specialize in mediation, so they have been lacking in helping the attorneys get ready for hearings and trials. (The client is the Dept. of Labor and Industries.) I'm liking it so far, whew!

And yes, I was able to squander an empty office to continue my lunchtime workouts--life is good!

And I am sorry I wasn't here last week--DH and I were out at the property doing drainage work. Holy, moly, what a lot of work! We had a deadline to get it done because the backfill of dirt was scheduled already. We spent 5 1/2 hours doing it on the last night we could, goodness! So I skipped my workout the next day, too tired. I was so pleased though that I only felt the work and wasn't sore from it, a tribute to Cathe!

Lumbar to start framing is going to be dropped off tomorrow.

So what workouts is everyone doing this week? Rhea, are you still doing your challenge with STS 3 times a week? How about you Melinda? And Lita, are you doing more weight work due to heat? It was 105 where my dad lives today, 62 here. My plan is to wing it this week, as I have been lately. And I get to rake up rocks at the property tomorrow after work. It's always a party here!

Hope everyone has an awesome week!

Tracy - Super congrats on the new promotion, the raise, the lumbar - all of it :D !!!!! All my indoor workouts are weight work. I continue to walk, no matter what the weather. This week I went back to GS for the upper body. Lower body varies according to what is hurting most the day I do it .

Wow, congrats on the promotion Tracy! Yippee! And lumber to start framing....that is the fun part, to see it come together. It seems to go so fast from foundation to framing and then it seems to crawl. Lots of little stuff that doesn't really show. When do you expect to be done?

Still doing BFFM challenge and on week three of STS. I"ve been slowly adding cardio days to the weight days. This week will be the first week that two of the upper body days will have some sort of cardio in the evening. I probably will never add cardio to the STS leg day, I'm not that crazy....yet.

Tracy, that is great news about the job. So happy that you love it! And also the house! Very exciting time of your life. I think it's good you have cooler temps with all that outside work to do.

I have been alternating different series to mostly do weight work. Then we've been working in the yard or biking or walking. It is going to be hot this week, in the 90's and humid. Tomato plants are loving it. We have a ton of them this year.

Better get to work. Have a good day everyone!

But I did - I forgot to post this year on Tracy's . I was a day late ...

Anyway - what did you do??????? You surely didn't do something wild and crazy like take the day off and go to the spa or to play golf or something fun, did you ;)?

Well, not exactly. I dressed in a suit, went to the board of supervisor's meeting so that I could get my 10 year employee recognition...whee...and then went to Reno with my niece and saw my dad. So, spent the day with a hyper ten year old and drove a lot. I'm pooped! But it was fun, did some shopping like always.

Happy Birthday, Rhea! That sounds like a nice day you had. 10 year recognition, very nice :)

The heat continues here! Feeling trapped inside, would like it to go down to lower 80's at least. Feeling groggy...

Oh boy, Rhea, you are the last of the party girls, for sure :p ! At least you got to shop - that's fun !

(((Melinda)))!! Heat is the worst, IMHO :(!

Hi babes! Happy Belated Birthday Rhea!! I'm glad you had a good day!! Any birthday with shopping involved in it is good! :D

Thank you for the congrats ladies--weird how nothing happened for 5 years and then BOOM! New job and house going up at the same time. The new job is stressful though--a big learning curve with new people and a new area of practice. And I caused one of the depts in my division to go down today! Computers and all. :) Wwwwwelllll, I brought my little coffee pot in the first day and set it up next to the community coffee pot in the kitchen area. I figured if it was new, no one would pay attention to it. To my surprise, when I went to get a second cup, the pot was empty. Frankly, I was appalled. So I put a note on it. If anyone wants to share the coffee and the cost, let me know. Didn't work. The coffee pot was empty again the next day. So, I moved it into my office. Apparently, that's a bad idea! :p

I had to confess to my supervisor what happened and why I moved it (she understood) but now I just have to put a note on it again and see what happens. I've been given some real smart aleck ideas by some co-workers so I'm going to have some fun with it.

Other than that, you babes are doing better on the workouts this week than I am! It was quite an ordeal to get a DVD player for my new workout room as it is, (I will NOT bore you with that saga!) then work got in the way of my workout today. Got one in yesterday though. And still taking BB for a run when I can since we don't have the temps you do Melinda! But I heard July and August are gonna be hot here.

TGIF babes!!

Tracy - Sounds like you'll have that new department broken in in no time :D. But it sounds like someone needs it, though! I think things are hectic enough now that whatever you get in for exercise is good enough :). Last thing you need is something else to stress over ;). You'll soon adapt to the job and the house (hopefully :p!) won't take too long to finish - then you can exercise all you want .

Hey ladies, hope you're all well :)!

I'll be back after July 10th. Have a great holiday and I'll "see" you then !

If anyone wants to come help me paint the interior of my house, you're more than welcome :D!

Have a great week! I'll actually be on vacation then too, but no house painting for me. Probably some yard projects...
