Low Carbers & Friends - July 2011

Hi babes! I can't wait to see what had you giggling about a grand jury report either Rhea!! :D I'm so glad you are still doing the happy dance too!

Melinda and Lita, I am with you ladies on the guilt of trying to get in what I "should" do vs. what is reasonable to do. :) And like you, I am getting to a happy medium as time goes on. I think it's awesome you got and love your new bike Melinda, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! I'm taking advantage of the weather too and that's why I'm running with BB. I get a lot of leg work in that way and then work on getting arm and ab work in either after that at home or during breaks at work. And there are times where I don't feel like doing any of it and I give myself permission to take a break. It's working out pretty well!

Have a great week babes!

I'm trying to figure out if I can scan it for you and then e-mail it. They threw him under the bus. Said he should work more and provide better training. hehe

Well, the heat is on. It is sooooo hot here with high humidity. This week I'm staying inside. We did go bike riding Tue and Wed late in the evening. We were dripping wet from the humidity, it was not good.

Rhea, glad to hear you are so happy with work!

Lita, is it super hot where you are? When do you bike/walk? We go usually the last hour of light in the evening.

I forget, has anyone said they preordered the new series? Any word on when it's coming out? I'm being lazy, don't feel like poking around the site!

Hi, Melinda :D! I do believe everyone has pre-ordered but I am expecting to cancel my order since the few pictures they've shown so far are not going to work well with my particular joint issue. Still, that will leave Reese, Rhea and Tracy getting it :). As far as I know, nothing else has been said about the date.

We're not super hot like a lot of the country, but we're hot for us. However, we usually cool off some at night which is a BIG advantage . I get one to two walks in in the morning and then one right after lunch. That one is the bear cat when it's hot even if I don't go very far ;). And I bike/walk to/from home and to/from the care center where my roommate is several times a day when I can. But all of my walks/rides are short - I just spread them throughout the day.

Lita,
I went ahead and ordered the workouts. They are $10 each, so I can't complain. Not really interested in all of them, but still getting the whole package. I wish I could still get that rate with just getting maybe 5 of them. Oh, well.

Heat index of 105-110 here today. I'm staying inside.

Last night I finished up the STS series I was doing. Will pull some other strength workouts next week.

Melinda - That will probably be what I end up doing. I can sell the ones I don't want and that way if there's a gem or two in the mix, then I will at least have those at a darned good price ;). Part of my problem is that even if they don't appeal to me now, will they in the future? I've thought of selling a lot of Cathe's workouts because most lean towards endurance, no strength. But, God forbid, if I ever have a set back of any kind, then I'd need the more endurance-type workout. It's just so hard to know what to do without a working crystal ball  :p :p! Try and stay cool back there - hopefully the high pressure will soon break and give all you guys some much needed relief!

Of course, I pre-ordered! lol I haven't even done all of my other new ones yet. I've been busy with the P90X and loving the weights, but not putting much cardio in. Well, plus, I haven't even been really good with the P90X, been a couple days between each workout sometimes. Bad me. I actually have to force myself to get out of bed early so I can get a workout done, darn it. I'd rather do them later, but by the time I get home and workout, its like 7 or 8 before we can eat. I still have get up by 5:30 or so to get to work, so that is way to late for me to eat. So now, it is up early, workout and then I can relax at nighttime. hahahahaha.....okay I did get up this morning. Tomorrow is another day, plyometrics in the am? hmm will be interesting.

Rhea - I just don't know how you juggle everything ! Plyos are okay in the morning if you don't wake up until about 1/2 way thru the workout, which is what I tend to do :p!

Well, that's good! I don't wake up until the workout is over!! The P90X plyo workout you can really modify, they are more along the lines of sports drills. But there is a fair number of that jumping stuff, so it will be interesting.

OK, I ordered the latest workout series. Got it ordered before they quit offering the free floor discs (plastic paper plates!).

Headed out of town for work, just over night, will be back tomorrow afternoon. Still hot here!

Rhea - I think the jumping might just wake you up sooner than usual :(. But then again, maybe not, and you'll never know what hit ya :p!

Melinda - Good for you ! Travel safely and stay as cool as you can!

Ah heck, the warm up work me up plenty. I did argue with myself for about 15 minutes before I rolled out of bed. I guess I won the argument? It was not bad at all doing the plyometric workout in the morning. Did I really just say that? Eew. It is nice to have my workout done though. I don't have to worry about it when I get home. I do miss reading a bit with my coffee in the am. Oh well, I guess that is what weekends and retirement is for.

Way to go getting that workout in, Rhea :D! I'm glad it wasn't bad - I'd far rather do plyos first thing out of bed than after a long day at work ;). I do my reading at night (and while I eat my meals). If I watch TV at night, I'm always too wound up to go to sleep .

I hate to say this, but this heat is just making it too uncomfortable to bike and any hour of the day. So, I've pulled out those cardio workouts from with the MMA and other shorter cardio. Today I did core cardio circuit (no, I do not look like Cathe and the crew at all). I use the rebounder to do those rolls into stands. I roll back on the rebounder then it helps me to get up to jump up. So, lots of jumping today, kind of fizzled a the end, but I didn't really care.

Did Muscle Max yesterday and it seemed easy after STS. Didn't go heavy, just moderate wts since reps were higher.

OK, here's my confession Lita. Watching tv winds me up at night, too. So I have all the Little House on the Prairie dvds and I watch an episode each night. It's mellow and relaxes me. The more tense I get with work or life, the more I'll want to watch them. Isn't that silly? DH asked me if I wanted to quit watching tv all together. Well, I don't want to quit, but we hardly watch any and it feels good. I have no idea what's going on in the world and I like it :)

Rhea, that is great that you workout in the morning. I know it's nice to come home and be done with obligations for the day.

Tracy and Reece, you both ok?

Melinda - I think it's awesome you're sticking with the workouts, period! Besides, variety is a good thing, right ;)? Not silly at all, Melinda !!! I loved that show and can totally understand why you find it relaxing! The only TV I watch is the Weather Channel (although not much because they've branched out into news and crap, too  ) and the occasional comedy movie that might be playing on one of the family channels. Like you, I prefer my little world without all the gloom and doom :D! And it keeps me in a much better mood and frame of mind than those I know that do follow all that news and reality nonsense !

Whoo hoo five days in a row! And I even did an extra cardio in the evenings on two of those days. Such a maniac.

No burn out! But I was a bit tired on Sat, so I took a rest day. And only did one workout yesterday. But today....look out!
